Brother this church is larger than you could've even imagined. I was abused physically by my father and emotionally, mentally and physically by my mother from age 5. Told that they wished I'd never been born, couldn't do anything right and they hated me. I am white and I feel so blessed by this man. Pastor Darby dealt with issues that a lot of pastor's will not touch. I am a therapist and everything that he said was absolutely correct. Trauma is the core of every issue in the human race and how we were taught as a child, what we were exposed to as a child, and our experiences as a child are definitely the evidence to how we show up as an adult.
My dad was addicted to crack most of my life but he affirmed me every chance he could(you're beautiful, you're smart as a whip, you could be a model, etc)not knowing I had a mother who would yank me by hair, punch me in the face and beat me while nude and tell me my daddy didn't love me. I always had a relationship with God,albeit informal or immature,as a young child and when I look back I realize it was that informal and immature with our Holy Father, that kept me and comforted me through the darkest times. God had a way of placing certain people in my life who knew what my story was who would shower me with love. They were either childless or didn't have any daughters. I’ve only started to deal with my child hood trauma one year ago from putting down alcohol which is a gateway drug . I lived and loved like a possessed man for years caused pain and abuse towards Myself and others . After remaining one year sober and doing lots of work , counselling , therapy, self growth , being rid of any distraction and people whom meant me know good including family as they where the biggest perpetrators I’ve now begun my true journey by giving my life to god from the 1/1/2025 listening to pastor Darcy sermon for just over 3 months led me to the light - Thankyou god .. amen
