That was genuinely the most hype Ludwig fight I’ve ever seen. One thing you could’ve done to get more dialogue from Ludwig is to talk to him while wearing the uniform of the healing church, where he’ll ask you if the hunters that came after him were as virtuous as he wanted them to be. You even get two different dialogue options to tell the truth or to lie to him so he dies happy. I love your content anyways man, I can’t wait to see the rest of the dlc.

I’m replaying bloodborne after a couple years hiatus and it’s so great to see there are still new comers to the title. It’s also great to see you enjoying it as much as I did my first play through. I honestly feel like I’m able to appreciate it now in ways I wasn’t my first play through. So glad this masterpiece of the medium is still getting appreciation and bringing joy to new generations. It truly is a 10/10 game that I am not sure we will ever see surpassed in totality. Sure, there are games that do certain things better than Bloodborne, but the complete experience that it brings is a once in a lifetime achievement imo. Nothing has delivered what it delivers before or since. I hope to see you do another play through with a bloodtinge or arcane build in the near future. I’ll be playing along with you in spirit with my Cainhurst bloodtinge chikage build. Much love bro and happy new year!
I was looking for the Crow set too at the same point in the game that you are. I couldn’t find Eileen anywhere. I found her at the church where Vicar Amelia was. Check there. She should be lying on the ground outside. Warning: The NPC you have to fight inside the church is harder than most bosses.
@@TheSylvirr Good point! After attempting to throw oil and molotov’s at him only to get annihilated, I didn’t even think about throwing anything else at him. Throwing knives make sense because they are faster. Letting him sepukku himself and walking away worked for me.
Ludwig is absolutely the gigachad of Bloodborne lore, and the fight is phenomenal. On the topic of whether the Holy Moonlight Sword is the best weapon or not, depending on how you look at it, it makes an extremely strong case for being the best weapon. A function of it doing both physical and arcane damage simultaneously means that you end up needing a larger stat investment for it to really get to its peak, but on the other hand, its peak is higher. If you do get to the point where you could be hitting the softcaps in strength, skill, and arcane, with 50 in each, it is absolutely the highest damage output weapon.
The Moonlight Greatsword is a sort of Tradition in Fromsoftware Games. Ever since all the way back in King's Field, they've had some form of it; a Glowing Greatsword that has a special attack that sends out Energy Beams. The old Armored Core games, Every Dark Souls title, Elden Ring, and yes, even Bloodborne, have a Moonlight Greatsword. It is a staple to find in them all. Whenever it is in a Humanoid combat game, its stats are the same; Mixed Strength and Intelligence. And always, ALWAYS, it is an AMAZING engame weapon if you build into it. I hope you enjoy it; You've certainly Earned it. Lorewise though; The Moon in this game is a sort of Sinister Presence, and many secrets revolve around it.
And now that you know the secret behind The Moon, a beam of Moonlight descended from the sky seems all that more sinister. The blade you wield is a shard of the power behind Yharnam's Suffering. A fragment you used to defeat its originator.
With a decent investment into arcane, the moonlight shreds through most things, do be aware that using the sword projectiles uses your silver bullets. You can hit with the swing that launches the projectile and the projectile itself to maximise the dmg output.
A lot of people also forget about blood bullets. You can sacrifice some hp to make 5 bullets at any time unless you're almost dead (then regain that health through rally).
Would like to see you do a run where you try to do as many of the NPC questlines as possible. A lot of them are really good and Eileen's leads to probably the hardest fight in the game, at least for me. But beating it was so satisfying and then you get her closure and outfit.
13:40 Okay so, I'm gonna guide you to my personal favorite weapon in this game; See those stairs under that coffin? go down them, hop into the trench, and follow the path to its end. You'll know it's the right way when you get ambushed by a snail person. Against a Grate/bars thing, there will be the weapon. It is AMAZINGLY visceral and does Beeg DPS.
If you thought Ludwig was hard wait until the final boss of DLC literally universally considered hardest boss in game way tougher than the end game booses
I wouldn't mind seeing you try out some PVP: Use the sinister bell in the nightmare frontier for the most PVP action, especially with the drop in player count
Ludwigs severed head actually gives special dialogue that's even sadder if you're wearing a church set and speak to him. Even if you don't react to it on a video you need to read his special dialogue dedicated to his church hunters.

Great video, though keep in mind that when using the Holy Moonlight Sword's trick form the beams use quicksilver bullets.
@@TrueSquareFace It takes bullets because you are firing a projectile and ammo was made into a very important resources unlike the other Soulsborne games. They needed something important to be consumed as a mechanic for the Moonlight Greatsword. It used to be durability for the beams in Dark Souls, and in Elden Ring it uses FP to charge the blade so it can fire the beams. I never used it in Demon Souls and haven't played the 2020 version yet so I don't know what it uses there if anything. Though I have heard that it goes through shields in Demon Souls.
It's funny because all 3 starting weapons, the katana, and the moonlight sword are the best weapons in the game. There's two more but (both DLC) but I don't want to spoil everything. I will say one is found (may need to backtrack if I'm remembering right) and the second is a boss weapon that must also be found oddly enough. Makes you double check the map though which is always nice.
I was just trying to get my daily dose of Bloodborne in and damn.. this piece at 11:30 really hit me like a truck. Mind telling the name of this beautifull piece. Great video as always.
This is how Artorias was for me in the Darksouls series because I played Bloodborne first and then Ds3. I was drawn to the Abyss Greatsword and its lore had references that struck a more personal side and I loved it so much I played the series backwards and beat Ds1 twice to kill Artorias with his sword to prove I'm worthy of taking it. This brought that feeling back, great capture. Fromsoft games have a way of clicking.
An interesting thing is that MarcoMeatBall, an opera singer react to the song and allmost guess the flow of this fight. From the beast, to the legendary hunter that is Ludwig
that moment when you realize that ludwigs holy blade is actually just a cheap imitation of the real thing XD the design on the side of the sword is really cool to look at after you know what it's trying to replicate. ludwig was part of the expedition teams back during the explorations of the labrynth (the pthumerian civilization under yharnam). his sword is a relic he found in there, sword imbued with some unknown great one's power, and the "ludwigs holy blade" you're using is an imitation of the weapon made for his followers
That’s so cool my guy! I was wondering why the blade has magic to it since I know magic technically doesn’t exist and it’s all great ones. Thanks for the info!
1:44 Alright, Welcome to hell. If a hunter gets too bloodlusted and attacks humans, the church would send them here. This is where Father Gascoigne should have gone, and would have if the whole GOD DAMN CITY hadn't gone mad.
The moonlight greatsword is the best weapon in the game. It's regular phase smacks and you have your gun hand. Max that bitch out. I've beaten ng+ 11. Still love it. Wait until you meet Lady Maria.
Ngl, I don’t know why, but i was legit hoping for some sort of news about Bloodborne 2 in TGA this year. Guess it was just hopium since we didn’t even get Elden ring dlc lol

It was at this moment that I switched to the holy moonlight blade...until i discovered....IT...the best weapon of any souls game ...ever...in that fishing hamlet..at the bottom of that well...
If you're wondering why the hunters are attacking you,in Bloodborne when a person ingests too much of the "holy blood" they turn into beasts, and in the case of hunters they will become "drunk with blood" and kill everything in sight,it is heavily implied that the Yharnamites blame outsiders for the scourge, not reakiting that it's due to the blood that they consume even more than alchohol, the reason for the Hunter's nightmare goes much deeper and I don't want to spoik it for you.
the next boss find is fine but if i was you, id grab the lock shield. after you change the next section up drastically it'll be obtainable on a platform above your head when you first entered the research hall. hopefully i gave enough info without spoiling anything cool, it's useful for the next boss
Just a tip for stats: The attack stats (arcane, tinge, skill, strength) all soft cap at 25 and hard cap at 50 for right hand weapons - Arcane is special though since it also has the Hunter Tools that scale well with it up to level 99. Most PVP builds will likely only level one of the stats up to at least 40 while leaving the rest at where the stat requirements for their weapons of choice are - unless you are using Evelyn or a weapon that has true Arcane Scaling (Burial Blade, Blades of Mercy, HMS) or the Hunter Tools. This will be covered better in a reply to this comment. Vitality soft caps at 30 and hard caps at 50 (the amount of HP you get per level past 50 honestly is not worth it). Most PVP players tend to have around 40-45 Vitality, albeit specialty builds like the Pure Arcane Build (60+ levels in Arcane) have lower. Stamina has two different hard caps and one soft cap; soft cap begins around level 16 and mainly affects poison resist while the two hard caps are 30 for poison resist and 40 for stamina points. According to the Bloodborne Wiki (not the Fextralife one), most of the builds tend to be around level 120 in order to quickly find matches for PVP. The range in which finding matches happens reliably is from the character levels of 90-140. There are also build calculators that the wiki links to for those planning on a build.
As for weapons and scaling: - Evelyn is considered the best 1 bullet pistol if you have a bloodtinge level of 22+; Evelyn and the Hunter pistol tie in damage at level 21 and the hunter pistol out damages Evelyn below level 21. - The transformed version of the HMS deals Arcane damage and thus scales with it (projectiles included), so a stronger transformed state requires higher arcane levels. - The Hunter Tools scale WAY too well with Arcane and can deal far more damage than some of the weapons at the cost of bullets. I normally recommend the Eye, the Brew, and the Auger (the first two are DLC and found post-Ludwig) due to their low bullet cost and great usages; Eye for quick damage for 1 bullet, Brew for heavy damage and AoE for 2 bullets, and Auger for heavy damage and the ability to parry while two-handing the HMS or LHB for 1 bullet. - Great gems exist in the chalice dungeons that drastically alter stat scaling for weapons (such as taking the LHB which scales with strength with S at 10+ and making it scale with Skill with S at 10+). These take forever to acquire though, and I do not recommend using them. Also, I recommend having at least one secondary weapon that has either the Beasthunter or the Serrated modifiers - the LHB and the HMS deal 50% extra damage to kin but do not do so for beasts. Weapons like the Church Pick, the Cleaver, the Saw Spear, the Whirligig Saw, etc would be good secondaries.
@@TrueSquareFace No problem, the game always has new things to learn about - even for those who have played it for many years. Been playing it for 5 years now and I only just learned that the LHB and Kirkhammer have two additional transformation attacks and a blocking stance (need to get hit during a specific attack) last week lol.
Bloodborne's Moonlight Greatsword has the best moveset from any game. It's the only one where EVERY heavy attack shoots a wave, including the jump attack!
and now another hunter will bear the sadness of having beaten Ludwig...And if you wear a church attire (Gascoigne's for example) his final dialogue is even sadder..... I won't spoil but... If you go for ng+........... LIE ! LIE TO HIM I'M BEGGING YOU ! Don't add to his suffering !
The worst thing about the DLC - well, apart from the bosses - is that the standard enemies no longer get staggered by your hits, requiring you to totally adjust your approach to combat.
Try to go where the vicar amelia was, i also killed the one reborn first, and i found eileen (the crow set) and she will give you her badge so you can buy her outfit for echoes in the hunters dream
She first shows up in Central Yharnam in a kind of hidden area, then she moves outside the Oedon Chapel. Apparently she disappears if you go to the forest without ever talking to her. After beating Henryk in Gascoigne's arena she moves to the cathedral (also after beating Rom).

Thanks for letting me know my guy!
A lot of people also forget about blood bullets. You can sacrifice some hp to make 5 bullets at any time unless you're almost dead (then regain that health through rally).
@@TrueSquareFacethe holy moon light blade was probably the only thing that kept the remaining sanity he had
Will def grab that!
Whirlygig saw is my favorite as well. Maxed out it's an S class strength scaling weapon.
Man I didnt knew you before this but I dont want this journey to end, Im also a sad pc player that never played bloodborne before 😢
If you thought Ludwig was hard wait until the final boss of DLC literally universally considered hardest boss in game way tougher than the end game booses
8:27 Yes.
Here's Laurence!
Keep it up bro, I like your content. Those dodges with Ultra Instinct theme are sick.
Laurance shall give thee sweet death
There’s additional dialogue with Ludwig if you’re wearing church hunter garb. It always breaks my heart
These videos inspired me to do another playthrough of this game. I'd forgotten how great it is.
I wouldn't mind seeing you try out some PVP:
Use the sinister bell in the nightmare frontier for the most PVP action, especially with the drop in player count
Ludwigs severed head actually gives special dialogue that's even sadder if you're wearing a church set and speak to him. Even if you don't react to it on a video you need to read his special dialogue dedicated to his church hunters.
I’m gonna look that up now! Thanks for letting me know!
Of course, as someone that's a big fan of Ludwigs to another it's only fair. There's a lot that can be missed in this game after all ☠
1:38 A certain Rule of the Internet will give you your answer.
2:13 Old Hunter Cap acquired.
2:20 These Hunter's have lost themselves to the blood while they were hunting beasts.
2:30 Beast Cutter is a good weapon
2:40 Parry.
2:43 Old Hunter Gloves acquired.
2:56 Death.
3:00 While crazy they are still Hunter's.
3:20 You are both Hunter's, but these one's have lost their minds.
3:49 It did, but it's dead now.
5:24 The Boom Hammer, a very heavy hitting weapon.
6:10 Kill the Crow. Do it.
6:39 Beast Cutter Acquired.
7:09 Old Hunter Garb acquired.
8:01 Old Hunter Trousers acquired.
8:05 Old Hunter drip assembled.
8:22 This whole area was the Cathedral Ward just warped.
9:19 Indeed.
9:48 Did you notice that your cover is an Amygdala.
12:20 To Vaatividya we go.
13:54 That enemy drops five Blood Vials every time you kill them making them a good farm for Blood Vials being very easily killed and just out of the boss room.
14:42 The Moonlight Greatsword has finally made it's appearance.
15:04 Starts first attempt of Ludwig the Accursed.
15:30 He was the first of the Healing Church Hunter's.
16:27 Spoilers.
16:38 He does have the body of a deformed horse.
18:00 Holy Moonlight Sword baby.
18:08 Yes.
19:40 Best fight, with the best song.
20:21 Fantastic first attempt for Ludwig, the Holy Blade.
21:22 Heh.
22:00 Noticed the name change.
22:04 No you didn't, but you can parry him Phase two.
22:53 Another good attempt.
23:26 Definitely an upgrade.
25:18 The best way to finish off any boss.
26:36 Holy Moonlight Sword acquired Baby.🎉
26:40 Needs fourteen Arcane, you've only got six.
26:47 Mergo's Pig Fisting Route. lol
27:18 Still one of the really good weapons.
Great video, though keep in mind that when using the Holy Moonlight Sword's trick form the beams use quicksilver bullets.
Thanks for the support and reaction as always my guy! I later did realize that it cost bullets and tbh it somewhat doesn’t make sense to me lol.
Appreciate the support my guy. The song is: th-cam.com/video/f03IHCr9dJY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5laI1PPhtLu_1_qq
Thank you so much. 👍
Yeah you should try the PVP and chalice dungeons.
Really enjoying the play-through. If you do another play-through with another weapon i will definitely watch it
Soundtrack of Ludwig's second phase is absolutely crazy
Watched all your Bloodborne vids, great watch and entertaining
Thanks for the support my guy!
that moment when you realize that ludwigs holy blade is actually just a cheap imitation of the real thing XD
the design on the side of the sword is really cool to look at after you know what it's trying to replicate. ludwig was part of the expedition teams back during the explorations of the labrynth (the pthumerian civilization under yharnam). his sword is a relic he found in there, sword imbued with some unknown great one's power, and the "ludwigs holy blade" you're using is an imitation of the weapon made for his followers
That’s so cool my guy! I was wondering why the blade has magic to it since I know magic technically doesn’t exist and it’s all great ones. Thanks for the info!
this drops at 1:25 a.m - About to sleep but F it. " hits play"
Really appreciate the support my guy!
Even after playing the elden ring dlc Ludwig is my favorite boss of all time… best use of the moonlight sword by a mile
1:44 Alright, Welcome to hell. If a hunter gets too bloodlusted and attacks humans, the church would send them here. This is where Father Gascoigne should have gone, and would have if the whole GOD DAMN CITY hadn't gone mad.
Most agree that this is the single best dlc in gaming history, and that's probably true
"i never pieces out this is from bloodborne " oh my friend you are missing out so badly
Seeing a new hunter kill the holy blade for the first time always fills me with a sense of nostalgia. It was an excellent fight
24:00 Ah yes, the blood drunkenness has come for you, Hunter
You must play and finish the chalise dungeons before you go to ng+
Ludwig's fight is peak Cinema
The moonlight holy sword doesn't look fancy but if you have an arcane build that thing hits like a truck.
The moonlight greatsword is the best weapon in the game. It's regular phase smacks and you have your gun hand. Max that bitch out. I've beaten ng+ 11. Still love it. Wait until you meet Lady Maria.
This is one of my most favourite games of all time hopefully your ready to join us in are long long long wait for BloodBorne 2
Ngl, I don’t know why, but i was legit hoping for some sort of news about Bloodborne 2 in TGA this year. Guess it was just hopium since we didn’t even get Elden ring dlc lol
Heck I’d take a BluePoint remake
Dude literally Did the same thing as I recent days. This was... As wild as my experience
Damn he really tried to parry ludwig the holy blade
There is only one boss left that might possibly be better than Ludwig.
You'll know it when you see _her._
She was the best for me for a while, it felt like an elegant dance of death. Until I learned how to parry, anyway.
The beasts at the start are scared if you put on the old hunters set i believe
Can’t even lie I didn’t mess with dlc til I had full cleared the main game and was on ng+ 4-5 Ludwig rocked me for a solid week I found him way harder than OoK
The way Square feels about the Moonlight Greatsword is the same way I feel about the Blades of Mercy. ☺️
To quote epicnamebro, “Mercy, mercy, me”
The Holy Blade is a poor man’s moonlight blade.
When you get to orphan of kos, with your slow greatswords, you will lose your mind. Cannot wait
Can’t wait
Protip: You can cheese Eileen at the start of the game and get the armor and weapon early as long as you have the patience to farm echoes
Quick tip, large bosses cannot be parry by the gun, you need to do strong attack from its back
Don't go to the tree unless you have eaten 3 umbilical cords... If you want the "true" ending, that is.
It was at this moment that I switched to the holy moonlight blade...until i discovered....IT...the best weapon of any souls game ...ever...in that fishing hamlet..at the bottom of that well...
Hmmmmm… a lot of hints there… will investigate
If you're wondering why the hunters are attacking you,in Bloodborne when a person ingests too much of the "holy blood" they turn into beasts, and in the case of hunters they will become "drunk with blood" and kill everything in sight,it is heavily implied that the Yharnamites blame outsiders for the scourge, not reakiting that it's due to the blood that they consume even more than alchohol, the reason for the Hunter's nightmare goes much deeper and I don't want to spoik it for you.
Holy Moonlight Sword is basically a claymore in normal mode and the best moonlight sword in fromsoft history in transformed mode
Don’t know about others yet since I’ve only played elden ring and sekiro, but I can say for sure it’s better than the one in Elden ring, by a mile
the next boss find is fine but if i was you, id grab the lock shield. after you change the next section up drastically it'll be obtainable on a platform above your head when you first entered the research hall. hopefully i gave enough info without spoiling anything cool, it's useful for the next boss
Appreciate the info my guy!
Just a tip for stats:
The attack stats (arcane, tinge, skill, strength) all soft cap at 25 and hard cap at 50 for right hand weapons - Arcane is special though since it also has the Hunter Tools that scale well with it up to level 99.
As for weapons and scaling:
- Evelyn is considered the best 1 bullet pistol if you have a bloodtinge level of 22+; Evelyn and the Hunter pistol tie in damage at level 21 and the hunter pistol out damages Evelyn below level 21.
Actually thank you so much for all these detailed info tho my guy. It is of great help!
Ludwig's theme is just chef's kiss.
Bloodborne's Moonlight Greatsword has the best moveset from any game.
It's the only one where EVERY heavy attack shoots a wave, including the jump attack!
You are going to need a lot more arcane to use that.
Ludwig is a pretty damn epic fight
What is this guys fascination with sinks? I Think He must really like them.
Don’t forget that you can regain ur health by attacking right after getting hittt.
The Old Hunters imo is the best dlc From Software ever made, and probably one of the best ever made in the videogames history
The dlc place is older then then the beginning of the game, it’s speak about the start of the monster problem
Consume 3 umbilical cords before the last boss for the true last boss. And I think you missed the bloody crow boss fight from Eileen's quest line
i fought Ludwig 1st time on NG+ after the dlc came out. it was a mistake...😭
and now another hunter will bear the sadness of having beaten Ludwig...And if you wear a church attire (Gascoigne's for example) his final dialogue is even sadder..... I won't spoil but... If you go for ng+........... LIE ! LIE TO HIM I'M BEGGING YOU ! Don't add to his suffering !
Welcome to Hunter's Hell. An eternal hunt that never ends.
Ah, Ludwig. The first time is always the best.
Thanks for the info my guy, but I’ve tried to look for her there but she wasn’t there which is sad lol
She first shows up in Central Yharnam in a kind of hidden area, then she moves outside the Oedon Chapel. Apparently she disappears if you go to the forest without ever talking to her. After beating Henryk in Gascoigne's arena she moves to the cathedral (also after beating Rom).
You still have 3 themes just great as ludwig is BB dlc is realizing something else..
I can't wait until you fight Laurence
Commentary Is Really Dope
