@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar I really regret can't take some lessons due to the very high value of US dollar here. Anyway I buy sometimes from your online store and watch your videos. Thanks a lot from from your Argentine fan.
Love it, what a great sound. I used to work at a hotel in Beverly Hills and remember seeing his (I assume) white flight case stores by the mail room. Tony was staying at the hotel…..🙌
Fantastic arrangement and beautiful jazz sound. Alway enjoy Paul’s playing. First saw him playing with Tony Bennett at Leeds Castle England in 2000. Marvellous concert! 🇬🇧 ❤️
Very nice! Play the tune myself, but it was usually solo. Starting playing with a trio and I think I'll try it next rehearsal in Db. Masterfully played, well done guys.
That was really nice Chris. Birdland has a lovely warm tone with a bit of bite to it. Paul swings hard - he would be a pleasure to play with. 1/2 size bass? Thanks for keeping the tradition alive. More licks to steal...
Hi, The bass I am playing is a 7/8 size. I think the fish-eye lens Chris used on this made it seem a little smaller looking. These days the size of the body of a bass can be hugely different but there is a consensus on the string length. Somewhere between 41-42' is the norm these days.
@@paullangosch7525 thanks for your reply Paul. It is indeed the lens distorting the size of your bass. For the little DB playing I do- I have a 3/4 Charlick folding DB. I enjoyed your groove and your lines.
Thanks Jay. It's always a pleasure to play with Paul. He was To y Bennett's bassist for over 20 years. He also played with George Shearing and just about every major jazz vocalist.
Been subscribed since Christmas last year. Great job, sounds fantastic. Looking forward to that time. I especially love Judy Garlands “Merry Little Christmas.” You may have that out already, either way, ty.
Mr. Whiteman... I congratulate you for the guitar sound and the beautiful phrases and the swing displayed in this gig. Would you be so kind, to reveal your secret? How do you get that perfect sound on the guitar? Set, eq, pedals (if used), amp, etc. Thanks since now. Many guitarists will thank you for the information. Greetings from Buenos Aires - Argentina.
Thanks Rick, I don't really have a secret. Most of my tone comes from the fingers and really trying to be clear with my musical ideas. The guitar here is a Gibson Byrdland with .013 Daddario strings(roundwounds) and I am playing through a quilter mini 101 reverb amp. Medium fender pick.
Thanks Chris, for the info. I've been playing jazz for years and I'm still looking to improve the sound. That's why I listen to those who achieve it, to always try to improve. I send you a big hug and thanks for the dedication!
Fantastic! I hadn't seen this show yet, for some reason I missed it. Now I can try to integrate the version where you play it alone, with some of these wonderful phrasings. Mr. Chris, perhaps it will be the sound (as some say), perhaps the cleanliness of the execution, perhaps it may be due to your particular technique, but I am convinced that the quality of your jazz lies precisely in the choice of phrases and arrangements that you propose, which truly harken back to the swing era, while being original, they are irresistibly classic. 🎷🎺🪕 And for someone like me, who is always looking for the "blue side" of jazz, it's simply perfect. Greetings from your number one Italian fan. Thank you on behalf of everyone. Ciao!!!
Excellent tone and groove. Just a great feel. Chris if you get a chance can you tell me your Gibson model here and what amp you are using. Such a warm full sound. And I read about your classical studies which shows when you go to fingerstyle, great touch
What a timing, what a sound, what a chill. Pleasure to listen. Thank you guys.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Paul is one of the greatest examples of “smooth” I’ve ever heard!
Chris, that guitar sound is “fat” and “round” and “punchy”….love it!
Thank you Steve!
I'm a 62 year old bluegrass guy..

Fantastic!
Don't see too many players with two jazz boxes and one semi-hollow in the same frame with a Hendrix poster! Love your playing Chris. ❤
😂Thanks Bruce!
Beautiful guys. Snapping my fingers like a fool here with you.

Awesome job! Thanks for giving us some enjoyment! Why does the bass have all the pads stuffed under the bridge? Possibly to reduce volume?
Thanks Frank. The foam is holding a microphone in place for recording
