Who To Use The Boots On? - Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia (Free Mila's Bounty DLC)

- You've been given a pair of boots in the Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Free DLC called Mila's Bounty! That's great, but now who do you give them to? In today's episode we're taking a look at some of the best candidates to give the boots. To summarize, Celica is a great unit to use the boots on because she, like other Mages, Sages, and Priestesses in Echoes, is limited to only 4 movement for the duration of the game. This means that even after she struggles through the harrowing terrain in her desert and swamp maps, she'll likely be incredibly obsolete later on when compared to the powerful Falconknights and Dread Fighters that you'll have in her army. If you want a little bit of extra range on your favorite mage, that could also be an option, but the boots can also be used to increase the movement of Silque, the only Cleric that doesn't have access to Physic and thus must heal allies who are adjacent to her. Armor Knights like Lukas, Forsyth, and Valbar are also good candidates since the Soldier class line is ALSO limited to 4 movement. Even Alm could be an option for you, since he has supports with a lot of units with high movement, so to help him keep up with them and get his support bonuses by being nearby, he might want the boots, too. Maybe you feel like +1 extra movement isn't even really going to effect much. In that case they can also be sold for 3 Gold marks, which can help out the Gold mark drought Celica has in Chapter 3! Ultimately it comes down to whatever you're looking for in your playthrough. Ultimate Mage army? Make Celica more useful? Have a Baron that could at least slow jog through the sand dunes? It's up to you to decide.

I used all my stat boost items and gold mark items, just forgot the Boots because I kept saying: (Gotta save them for when I really need them!) lol.

Try Boots on Hero Alm with the Parthia. He'll snipe anyone, anywhere. Bonus points if you overclass him for Bowrange +1.
Granted, Bow Knights do it better, but come on...it's ALMost a Bow Knight.

I definitely think the boots are better spent in Celica's Army before act 4 due to the numerous amount of swamp maps in her route
In my first playthrough I didn't use the boots
But second playthrough celica becomes even better with boots
Yeah, it certainly can help her out a lot.
If you are not doing a Blitzkrieg run, you should sell the boots. 3 Gold marks.
Edit: Blitzkrieg is a medal you get when you finish the whole game (defeat Duma) in under 500 turns.

I usually give the DLC boots to Celica because it strengthens Celica's versatility and not get hindered by terrain too much.
Other than that, I give the boots to Delthea because it can help her attack range since she doesn't learn any 1-3 range spells normally unless you overclass her to get Mire and Death. Mage Ring can help Delthea attack better, but her 4 movement can still make her come up short of attacking various enemies.
When I do another run of the game, maybe I'll try giving the boots to Valbar and Silque! Thanks Lucky Crit!
Lucky Crit, I know you have many other video ideas in the making, but do you think you can make a video on tips for Thabes Labyrinth once you get to that point in the game? I know there are still some people who are struggling to get past all 10 floors.

I used one pair on Celica, and then got to Thabe's Labyrinth. When I knew what my team then would be, I gave it to Kliff, who was using a Mage Ring. Definitely not a waste to me.
I typically use then on Celica and Delthea. The barons just don't get the atk stat needed for me to keep them in usage. That and Delthea doesn't learn a 3 range spell until the enchantress class but that's not really viable during the main campaign unless you're ultra grinding
Speed Ring is perfect for Silque, since it let's her double seraphim terrors and makes her a bit more useful if you want to use her in act 5. Also trading off mage ring for multi nuke strats is dope

final boss in thabes, dont kill the creation, instead kill the golden yellow enemies that repeatedly spawn in fixed locations. you'll average 1 of those items in about 100 turns. its much better than actually grinding through the dungeon farming boxes on floors 9+10, you can do those too, but the odds are terribly low. the golden mobs that spawn only drop the legendary weapons so theres no need to worry about turning out a steel spear. this method is also great for renown as well.

I’m not even half-way through the game yet,but I’m already noticing how OP Valbar is,and because of his humongous attack and defense,I’m finding myself almost NEVER using him,But he’s still up to par with all of my other recruits on Celica’s route.Echoes is also my first FE game,so if anybody has any tips,please respond to my comment with any tips you have.
Once the desert and swamp maps show up, when he won't double anything, and when Celica's route starts throwing hordes of magic at you, is when you'll realize he's not really good past Act 2.

If you want Valbar to remain very strong consistantly, you might want to use the Free DLC to class change him into a Mercenary. Knight is considered the absolute worst class in the game, and its usefulness will drop of very soon.
funny that you say that because i'm on my second playthrough and both times my valbar was/is trash i don't know why even though he always got atk, def and hp he was still usless and saber was my ''tank'' and i never really had any problems with it
but beacuse my valbar was always so bad he became one of my least favorit units in the game

Generally I think all item DLC is cheating so don't use it.
It's not really "cheating" but yes, DLC in general can trivialize the difficulty of the game. 1 movement doesn't make that much of a difference, though.
I don't find Valbar worthy of the boots since while the extra move is nice there's other problems with Valbar himself such as his lack of Res and the large amount of Magic users in Celica's path from chapter 3 and onwards. All mages on Celica's path have a 1-3 range and always have 4 move so its really up to you on that end. For Alm's side i'd say either Silque due to a lack of range healing and warp strats, Delthea due to no 1-3 range option, or Tobin if you made him a mage due to again, no 1-3 range option. Which of the two you give it too depends on who you want too have the mage ring, which for me personally would be Tobin. But if you didn't make him a mage then Delthea then.
Otaku Emblem why would Delthea need movement she doesn't need to move that much as she is better behind the main line hitting with Her great attack if she were on the front lines she would definitely get killed, Valbar and other armor units while yes have weakness to magic but they could put the movement to more use
Its really dependent on you're playstyle and how you use warp/rescue, Delthea's lack of 1-3 range means the extra move can compensate to help her reach the target without warp/rescue though the mage ring can do the same thing. Not to mention the speed ring gives +1 move also. Like i said it depends on the player so if you think armour's are a better pick that's your playstyle.
Very good insight! Personally I'm not a huge fan of Valbar either, I just tried to do my best to think about the different options and compare and contrast who within most classes could use the help more. There's definitely better and worse ways of using the boots, though, and I'll probably never use them on Valbar.
I don't use DLC so i naturally got boots from thabes
But i don't see a reason to use them after Thabes because when you're done with Thabes you're done with the game and that means im done with the game
Yeah, the DLC boots have the added benefit of you being able to get them whenever. The in-game pair comes way, way too late to be useful.
Used mine on Bow Knight Atlas after some Dread Fighter loops and he can pretty much solo Thabes Labyrinth
That's awesome. I love Atlas. So far my Kliff is dominating Alm's route.
I gave them the Alm not knowing I wouldn’t get another pair. On the bright side he was very mobile on the battlefield which is extremely useful because he’s my best unit and the main lord. The downside was that it made it difficult for Celica to actually get to the fight on her side so she became dead weight.
I would argue Faye is a better candidate for Boots because as a pseudo-dancer with Anew it's useful for her to be able to zip around and give someone else another go if push comes to shove.
Today I beat the whole game on hard classic (including the final final boss) with no casualties, and without using any optional units
I mean I grinded everyone to level 20 overclasses in the beginning of act 4 but still
I sold the boots to get gold. My main goal was to give my 4 dread fighters 3 star brave swords, 4 Bow knights all killer bows, the tree white wings with gradivas (why I needed the gold from the boots) and Clair with a three star saunion. I did that all without paid dlc.

I played Echoes as soon as I got it so my first playthrough the boots were just about useless. I gave them to Celica when I did finally get them though, as she got the swords including her unique one while other mages would get various rings or shields. I regretted nothing when she did get the boots though. Just felt right having both lords with 5 movement.
I always put them on both celica and Alm, cause there's 2 pairs, celica really needs them cause 4 movement isn't fun
It sucks that she doesn't get another tile of movement in the desert maps with them, but yes, she'll be a lot better later with the boots.
It helps that her magic moveset is super versatile but her having 4 movement sucks during chapter 3-4

It's alright, Lucky Crit, I haven't finished Echoes, either. Why? Because I actually got a 3DS recently (few months ago) and I've got Awakening and Fates to also beat before completing Echoes.
But, so far, I'd say Echoes is a little better than Awakening and Fates.

yeah which is why i found echoes disappointing, game is fun but lack of replayablity just ruined it
I made Lukas an spartan and gave him 2 boots. Now the one that is useless is Alm since most of my other units are better than him (I maxed out about 20 characters with all their full stats in green with the star Jacinth)

You should of mentioned the speed ring as it will give barons ultimate power and mages no trouble in move and the weight of magic
As a person who played the game and completed it, I never used any of the DLC because I wanted no advantage in the game, but after completing the game I'm gonna use the DLC items and characters and see if it will make a huge difference in my second playthrough.

i stopped after the first playthrough and went straight back to fates and awakening
There's plenty to do on subsequent playthroughs though.. the only limit is your imagination
yeah but without marriage system and complete lack of supports with many different units it'll all just be the same going through, i won't learn anything more from these characters or see anything hilarious that'll keep me coming back.
and also the dlc is just not worth it in the long run.
again i enjoyed the game it was really fun, but after 100% completion theres nothing left
MLPflutterguy I played through this game 3 times and loved it each time because the writing is solid. Fates and awakening have more support conversations, but I felt that they were all dull.

This video is a bit of an update. Many people have suggested that selling the Boots for a few gold is the best use, but at the end of the day some units will still be better with some more movement.
