    I love Jidenna's style...music wise and fashion wise. He manages to slay both old school classic jazz/hip hip and modern rap/hip hop while singing about the truth. He's definitely unique to this generation. I would marry an intelligent black man with class and good music taste like him asap.

    It has never been a better time to be black in America. There are so many black women going natural than ever before. We are living in a generation of little black girls that are going to grow up and think their natural hair is beautiful. And little black boys that know it is possible to be the president of the United States. I'm just waiting for white people to start wearing perms again. Black people have influenced this country for years. If you take a look around you will see it too. We are among very few people that can take nothing and turn it in to something after experiencing so much adversity. Black people you are beautiful.

      It may be true that there has never been a better time. But it doesn't mean that now is a good time to be black in America. #ripterrencecrutcher

      It's a pretty good time if you actually look at statistics. More whites are shot by cops than blacks per annum. Welfare systems are in place (even though they're fucking awful and really just damage communities) for anyone struggling and if Trump wins, I can fucking guarantee an increase in jobs for black communities. In fact, black unemployment raised during Obamas 8 years with him promising "oh look at me I'll help". With the election of Trump, jobs from companies come back to the US, illegal immigration is slowed/near stopped so that companies won't hire illegals to do jobs for cheaper despite them in most cases being under qualified than those living in the areas with high unemployment. What you have to understand is that people are shot due to incidents, whites are too at a higher rate. Ever tried to see what a cop has to do? In a situation like these it's so high pressure.
      Plus, I hate to break it to you but Terence was hardly an innocent man.

      employment has gone up in all communities. trump is raising taxes on the middle and lower classes while lowering taxes for the rich. trump is not going to bring companies back to america considering he has factories not in America. also their are waaaaay more white people in America than Black's so saying more white are shot black people is not relevant.

    Fell in love with this song the day he released the audio. The man is brilliant! Sort of reminds me of James Brown, how he was able to make you dance while still sending a message. On top of all that, his music videos always look so fun. Can't wait for this album to drop.

    Jidenna is easily my artist to watch in 2016. So fresh. So original. Not like anybody out now and not like anybody out before. He's the perfect mix of old school style with new school flavor. And he's not afraid of his blackness, which is damn near unheard of in today's music. He speaks from his soul and has a catchy way to talk about what's going on in the world we live in. Where I feel like Kendrick Lamar preaches at you, Jidenna makes you think about his lyrics. No shade to K dot of course. But Jidenna to me is like the Martin to Kendrick's Malcolm. But enough of my talking, I'm expecting him to be a household name asap.

    • @newskull1413
      @newskull1413 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +mod len YES! ... it is one thing to recognize the existence of a system that maintains privilege based on color and or how well you align it, It’s entirely another to internalize one’s own inferiority
      and accept that is the only model that we can use to make sense of the world.
      It is so sad that many of us suffer from black inferiority. Black
      Inferiority which a direct outcome of White supremacy finds expression in the
      black world in different forms - and is given different names - but at its core
      the is same thing. ‘Slave mentality’ is no different from ‘colonial mentality’
      - its equivalent in Africa. It’s an implicit acceptance of some kind racial or
      civilizational hierarchy where White people are placed on the top and everyone
      else assumes a position somewhere in between - so all the oppressed preoccupy
      themselves in the politics of placing themselves above each other in this
      hierarchy .This fight alone in itself is very problematic and reflects the intellectual illiteracy in the black world globally of the black experience in the context of white supremacy.

    ok im going to state the obvious i love how Jidenna ALWAYS has black women and men in his videos different skin tones hair types backgrounds i love how there is variety. also he speaks so highly of the black community and embraces his NIGERIAN background he's winning.

  • @Kpower
    @Kpower 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1345

    He should be the blueprint for future black artist. If he was recipe, he would be old school music, new school music, meaningfull lyrics and a big slap of unapologetic blacknes.
    I'm so happy that Janelle bought him up. We need a separate black music outlit because mainstream rap is hijacked by crappy artist controlled by old white people. Mainstream rap is not representing the black community well and I hope Jidenna, Janelle monae, and other artist cans introduce real black music into mainstream music again.

You need to stop looking at the surface and search deeper. There's a lot of great hip hop out there that doesn't talk about bitches and drugs. But then again I do get turnt when Young thug or Migos comes on.

      This song is fucking awesome though. This is the only rap I listen to. Jidenna.

    The brother is ushering in a brand of Hip Hop/Music that's in direct conflict with the destructive, counter productive, drug dealing gangsterism that has permeated the current climate of urban music. And in doing so provides a need and hope for better quality art. Salute to the Brother Jidenna for the musical journey that he is about to embark upon. The Cab Calloway of Hip Hop

      Look for your local swing dancing scene and you may find something similar. However, from my experience, most swing scenes are light on the brown skinned people and you wont find if any hip hop songs there... it is for swing dancing after all.
      But that's essentially what he's done, taken hip hop and placed it in a swing dancing environment.
