    Who needs an R2.8 when you have an SD-33T, 101HP and 175 ft lbs of torque. That monster propels my Scout from 0 to 60 in about 20 seconds.

      0-60 Eventfully

      In mine it takes about 20 miles to get to 50 and that's with 410 gears

      My '65 had the 152cid slant four which put out a whopping 87hp. Got it up to 60mph once or twice. That engine was screaming. She preferred to stay under 40mph.

      It only takes mine 3 gallons of gas and a quart of oil - and a flat or downhill grade. And nerves of steel. But other than that...

    I have a 69 with an ISUZU 4bd1T and a T-19 with Dana 300 and axles out of a Scout II. I painted it 19 years ago and have been driving it ever since. It is by far my favorite vehicle to drive. To this day I still pull a chair up in my garage and just look at it. I've wanted one of these for as long as I can remember. I built models of these when I was kid. I'm 51 now.
    That R2.8 platform looks real nice. The 4bd1T is a BIG engine just like the Cummins 4BD. The R2.8 looks like an easier fit. I had a Nissan FD35T in it and it fit a little better and was a nice package but it was a junk yard engine and had a bad head. Could not find a replacement or a good used head so it had to go.

    getting ready to do this swap in a 800 with a v-8 and t18. will the trans keep its stock location ?

    What do you guys do with the original drive trains you pull out? I've got a 65 scout 80. Looking for t90 trans and Dana 18 transfer case. Was running and driving but had to flat tow it home. Thing I fried transfer case and clutch is no bueno.

    Curious I’m 6’5” 270 will I fit in a Scout 800?

    • @anythingscout
      @anythingscout  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not comfortably.

      I'm 6'2" and my scout 800 is a little tight. Mostly I'm looking out the very top of the window. At 6'5" you would have to lower the seat but then your legs will be bunched up. A scout 2 would be better suited for you.

    How much time/$$$ roughly for your company to replicate this exact build?

    • @lisariddle695
      @lisariddle695 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They list their prices at around 45k for a drivetrain upgrade with no body work

    Any chance you all will make a kit for this like the LS kits?

    • @anythingscout
      @anythingscout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully for the Scout II, but probably not for the Scout 80. These a lot of custom work involved in this build.

  • @mmcalifornia8600
    @mmcalifornia8600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would the sheet metal work be reduced our not needed in a scout 800 with an original v8?
    I know the scout 80 with a 4 cylinder had the radiator pushed back and I'm assuming you had to push it forward like the v8's came stock.

    • @anythingscout
      @anythingscout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep that's correct. The V8 800 is a heck of a lot easier but there is still a little bit of work for intercooler mounting.

    hmm chinese made diesel shipped to US will stick with b series even though the NVH is worse but parts can find at any corner store autoparts.. These parts hard to find if something happens

      You have no idea. Going on 2 1/2 years for a failed ECU in my Dodge with a 5.9 Cummins. Had a p-pump swap done ($$$$) but since the USPS lost my original ECU I have no gauges anymore. Cummins was no help at all, that one's a proprietary Dodge Bend-me-Over part (of course) and even they didn't have a replacement. As good as Cummins engines are, never another.
