Humm, forgot about the shelling part just now and tried to bake and eat them all with the shell on. Live and learn. Great video.

So many nuts this year! I've been pocketing far too many on my rambles, feeling not unlike that squirrel in the Ice Age films - always seeing a better one just a few feet further on - or yet another double whoop!! Wonderful!

Tanks for sharing Abbie, I have Hazels in my garden at home. It's lovely to see all different small wild animals that are eating the nuts or storing them in to the winter needs.

I'm starting to educate myself more with the different types of UK trees and their uses, just as a wee point of interest when I'm out walking and this has been brilliant. I had no idea that hazelnuts were so easy to gather... to be fair, I had no idea at all how they were gathered.

One of my favourite nuts. I eat pounds of them at Christmas. Now I know how to prepare my own.....subject to sourcing a local supply, that is, otherwise it's back to the local supermarket!

Thanks for the information Abbie. Hazlenuts are my favourite nuts but alas they do not grow wild in Australia.

Great forage Abbie, unfortunately I didn't find any hazelnuts this year but I did find loads of Rowan Berries which I foraged in my latest video! Have you ever made Rowan Berry Jelly?

I was hoping to make some this year but being away so much meant to seasons got away quickly and the berries here are past their best. Next year!!

Foraging? Lol....I've just stopped at 50 kilos, and there's loads left, despite the voles, jays, woodpeckers and magpies. No squirrels methinks, as the greys are mostly being quelled, and the reds are yet to return.
