it’s nice seeing all five OG movie autobots in one shot. it’s a shame i’ve already quit collecting masterpiece figures... maybe 10 years down the line when collectors are are already letting go these figs cheap i might snatch them up just to get the original 5 in my collection. well done as always, bro :-)

Evan Davies not yet confirmed but heavily rumored/leaked that the next MPM is Bumblebee (again. Surprise lol). People assume that the line is finishing TF 2007 first so best bet is the old camaro version.
MPM Toys Haha yeah the people who make these figures have such a hard on for bumblebee, it’s annoying. They should focus more on finishing the other 07’ decepticons first. They all deserve to get the MPM treatment over bumblebee

Just got mine and can say it's even is better in hand than came across in your review! Even if it didn't transform, it would be an amazing show accurate robot mode.
This is seriously the best version of Ratchet. The engineering is so fuckin dope. Looks so fun to transform. Can't wait to get him.

27:34 no, not at all accurate. ironhide is taller than ratchet in the movies. Even the official scale charts say Ironhide is 22' and Ratchet is 20'.
Look at the scene where the autobots intercept sector 7 when they took sam. When optimus says "relieve them of their weapons," there's a shot of ironhide next to ratchet as he shoves him a bit. It's clear ironhide is larger
Actually even in the scale comparison it shows that the Ironhide figure is taller so I think primevsprime was just mistaken lol

I can understand if you want specifically hasbro/takara figures but i highly recommend Wei Jiang blackout he looks amazing and scales perfectly with my masterpiece collection.
@@browneye010 The Wei Jiang blackout does look good, but I want to see if an MPM can give us an even better transformation scheme than the SS figure. I'm not opposed to Third Party/KO figures, but for me it's the difference between an upscale of Studio Series Optimus Prime with some tweaks, vs a third-party based on MPM Optimus; both are good, but the fundamental design of one is still vastly superior. But yeah, if we don't get an MPM Blackout or it somehow turns out badly, then Hide Shadow would definitely be my go-to after that

I had the ROTF NEST Rachet figure , one of my favourite figures my grandmother gifted it to me when I was probably 8 yrs . This reminds me of the memories I had with that figure and with my brother's War For Cybertron Bumblebee . B T W great review the figure is fire🔥

Can’t wait to complete the ‘07 Autobots! Looking like he’s going to be my favorite MPM figure. I hope that back “antennae” can be easily removed. Just felt bad about the lack of red paint apps on the arms and some paint on the legs. Really wanna see him in vehicle mode next to vehicle mode Ironhide tho but I understand that’s a bit of a hassle because of Ironhide’s complexity going to alt mode lol
Unfortunately for me ironhides rear plate snapped off whilst installing the dna design kit so he’s basically stuck as a robot forever 😭🤣

A very accurate figure I'd say. It would look almost perfect with a lot of repaint on the robot mode (masterpiece movie always gives us a lot of pure plastic areas to help us develop our painting skills, starts from mpm04). Although I haven't obtained the figure yet, so I can't leave too many comments on it. Also, big fan of the reviewer.

My first transformers figure was movie 07 Voager Ratchet so I feel obligated to get this. I actually just got it today.
awesome review, but i think you might have missed a step. the panel on the back of his knees can fold inwards for a cleaner silhouette

Can you please show the different possible configurations of the "lights and bars" that hang off the back? PLEASE? I've been waiting to see HOW those could be configured by a competent reviewer ever since the promo images were released.
I see the two antlers can fold down, but how else can you adjust or pivet the lights?

No, Ironhide is a bit taller than Ratchet, Ratchet is 20 feet and Ironhide is 22 feet.
Great figure, but Ratchet is meant to be 2 feet shorter than Ironhide, so not exactly right in saying that the scale is movie accurate.
Hopefully he should make a good scale next to Wei Jiang Prime and BMB Ironhide
He is? I always believed him to be a little bigger. I believe you can squat him slightly if you wish for Ironhide to be taller
@@PrimeVsPrime Yup. Ratchet is 20 feet to Ironhide's 22. It's largely why the Studio Series line effectively said "Screw the Rules" on scale somewhere between Optimus & Ironhide (either Prime's too little, or Ironhide's too large, or both).
And the main 5 Autobots are finally complete. Now we should get:
- Bonecrusher
- Brawl
- Sideswipe
- Grimlock
And dino

Such a great review, great figure and great toy line

Robot mode is not bad but definitely not the best

The mini missiles are from ROTF on the dessert battle scene where Sideswipe spotted sam and you can see Rachet on the back spammin missiles with his left arm on that scene

Nah, it's going to have a giant, ugly backpack like the Human Alliance, it'll be overloaded with dollar store quality plastic and low clearance issues, almost inviting you to break the figure, and it'll cost 12 trillion dollars so no 0/10

They should design the backpacks to come off of the figure so that you can store the accessories on the pack. Less backpack on the figures makes them look better.
I managed to score this figure for 30 bucks below retail, I’m happy to get him in a few days!
Great review and the figure looks amazing! The detail is incredible. I might add a bit of paint to the legs but he looks really good as is. I can't wait to get mine. I gotta think though that those light bar pieces are supposed to be folded down in the back. Maybe there's another alternate configuration that hides it even better?

This Ratchet is the only reason I decided to buy the MPM Ironhide. I heard bad things about Ironhide. I got it on sale... it lives up to it's crappy reputation.

I feel as though Ratchet was such a underrated character in the Transformers movies and is one of my favorite characters. I think I will definitely be purchasing this figure.
Looks like a great mold but I hope the inevitable KO gives him a slightly darker, more metallic coat of green paint and adds more paint apps for his head.
In the bay verse instead of bulkhead it’s ironhide I needed that!!!
Mine finally came. By far the best MPM. 8/10 - 9/10 Any issues I have with him are minor. Now I just have to complete the set. LOL
I’m not sure if someone has mentioned it (or maybe you figured it out already) but the panels that stick out behind the leg actually fold into what would be part of the calf.
I am so happy Ratchet finally got a Masterpiece! I'll still cross my fingers and hope they release one with his Dark of the Moon colours before considering on whether to get him or not. The lime-yellow is a little bright for my taste.
I wish it borrowed some of the shoulder engineering from studio series ratchet so that those tires could be mounted on his shoulders where they should be.
Awesome video. Nice version of Ratchet, but I'm from the G-1 generation and no matter what version of the Transformers are released, there will be nothing better than any G-1 version.
Ok the head sculpt looks good but my gosh it is lacking paint. But overall a very great figure. Super screen accurate.

Suprising how similar the bottom of the figure is to the first voyager figure of ratchet with head and arms formation.
I can't wait to see takara make the rest of the movie 1 decepticons because if I remember the only masterpiece movie decepticons they made is megatron, starscream, and barricade they just need brawl, bonecrusher, and blackout

I wish we could get a Dark of the Moon color scheme repaint. That color pallet is just more satisfying in my opinion

The 2007 voyager looks like an oversized legends class figure compared to the mpm.
Kind of looked like they could have made a part that allows the head to fold forward in between his arms in vehicle mode. It's obvious its a backwards robot head under the front of that truck.
It is a great figure, but nitpicking i would say that they could have made the weapons all store in the undercarriage if they wanted to, there is more than enough room.
Finally my favourite character has an mpm toy

standing them straight up and down, Ironhide is just a hair taller, which is to scale as he is 22' to Ratchet's 20'
Wish he was a bit more neon green, but I'm considering getting this to finally replace my 2007 Voyager.
I'm really not impressed by this figure. It really feels like Takara just phoned this one in. Yes, it's definitely the most movie accurate Ratchet, but that's not very impressive when the only real competition is the studio series version. I think Takara's core design issue is that, to achieve more detail, they simply increase the parts count instead of trying to cleverly rethink a transformation. This figure is a prime example of this problem. The transformation is almost identical to the studio series- just with more parts and hinges to for stuff to fold up more. The back and top surface of the truck is still all just kibble that hangs off the back, and the lower legs still have inaccurate truck panels just stuck to the sides. Another example of the Takara problem is that official crowdfunded Unicron; it's a lazily designed, panely mess compared to the 3rd party studio cell.
To be fair, movie Ratchet is probably the most difficult design of the first movie to make an accurate transformable figure of due to all the small, weirdly shaped green bits all over his legs and lower arms that aren't actually geometry from the truck. So some amount of kibble is understandable. But I bet a third party company with even half the talent of Unique Toys could design a way more accurate Ratchet with less kibble.
There's so much else that easily could have been done better. None of the wheels are really in the right place in robot mode. The hip wheels aren't too bad, but they stick out too far; they should be IN his thigh, not hanging off it. I know Takara is capable of this as MPM Ironhide and Bee nailed this. And the wheel placement on this Ratchet's shoulders is pretty blatantly wrong. They're supposed to be inside his and at the same height as his shoulder. Instead they're far back and up on either side of his head. There's also a ton of missing paint apps; most blatantly on his face. The headsculpt is good, but the face looks so bad due to a huge lack of green paint. Ratchet's face is supposed to me like 80% green. Instead there's just a few randomly placed dots of green. Also, his signature red heartrate monitor stripe that's supposed to be on his forearm and the red stripe on top of his head are just
missing.
To be perfectly fair, Michael Bays Transformers designs are overly complex and don’t translate well when it comes to manufacturing toys. Unlike G1 Masterpieces when the shapes are angular and box like, the Michael Bay Transformers are organic in shape. It’s damn near impossible to make a 100% accurate transformable figure by the nature of the design. With your inputs, I feel like they probably would’ve had to make the transformation more complex to achieve your preferences, and the transformation is complex as it is already. I give the engineers a lot of credit for doing their best. They’re not perfect representations, but they’re good enough for me lol

I'm so spoiled with KO figure amazing paintwork, it makes me realize official MP figures looks so ugly sometimes.
Really, my only complain is the face, this grey plastic is really bugging me. Some of you may say: "oh but this is movie accurate!" Well sorta, in the movie he does have the grey bits but they are less prominent than in the figure, some metallic paint could fix this tho
I love ratchet, but for $120 this thing should have all silver paint apps. I’m not crazy impressed, hope ThreeZero will start making more bots in the deluxe scale. I just want accurate bot modes.

This is really really cool! At last Ratchet gets an actually awesome mold, instead of a just passable or good one. Hopefully this won´t have any QC issues!
picked mine up today at Target. Awesome figure =) waiting to see if he goes on clearance lol at the end of the month lol so save your receipts!!!
the only issue i have with this figure is his paint. hes molded in the bright green plastic, and only has a few paint apps here and there, the majority of his legs are just green plastic which gets hard to look at, and makes it difficult to make out the details. im really excited to see how 3rd parties are gonna handle this one

You forgot to mention all the unpainted plastic that easily should have been painted silver. The face of the studio series figure is painted better than this. I can't wait for a painted KO version to come out that will put this to shame.
