CMS claim that there is a robust complaints procedure, unfortunately that is a lie. The first stage of making a complaint is through the case worker, if they say no you struggle to get any further. They ignore letters, even when sent recorded delivery. They do not have to produce any evidence of how they calculated what they say you owe, and can take it straight from your wages or bank account without ever going near a court or judge. I know from first hand experience how difficult it is to deal with a government department that treats you as unworthy of their attention.

I still don't think the real culprits will get punished. Too many are involved. The cover up will continue but this just shows what government, corporations, the Civil Service & big companies really think about us. And when we go fully cashless, how many time will it happen then? One thing's for sure, just like America, the lawyers will continue to have a field day !!

Why does it cost more to raise the child of realtively well off parents? Do they eat more or grow faster? It should be a fixed amount per child. End of.

Often, the children don't benefit from the payments anyway, the mothers get their hair and nails done, go out drinking, etc, getting takeaways, taxis, clothes, mobile phones.

I myself have had thousands of pounds stolen from me by the CMS simply because I didn't see a single letter that came through my door, they did this when I had cancer and was recovering from getting my kidney removed. I couldn't afford to stay off for any longer than 6 weeks, I can tell you now that's not long after such a big operation and I haven't recovered 7 years later from picking up fibromyalgia. I'm in too much pain to do much never mind work. It's almost 3 years since I had to quit my job due to my illness that was brought on from not having enough time to recover from my operation. I couldn't do anything about how things turned out I worked until I almost lost my sanity and my family, I'm lucky I woke up and quit to save myself and my family.

It takes over a couple of hours to get to talk to someone at the CMS (that’s if you don’t get cut off) The system is completely inconsistent and you have to wait months for any kind of recalculation in your favour but they want money from you ASAP when they’ve calculated (usually mistakenly) you owe money. It’s the most biased not fit for purpose set up that doesn’t take into account what’s best for children.

My friend who was paying for his children had is wife turn up one day and just dump them on him and she then refused to pay for any child maintenance. So he contact the ‘agency’ and they refused to get involved and she owes thousands, finally he’s written to his MP and they have now paid him a lump sum, but not everything he is owed. I’ve now been informed by another friend that this has now happened to him and he paid in full and more. What the hell is going on, is this not sexist.

I’m a victim if the Child Support Agency. It destroyed my life 30 years ago. I made 2 serious attempts at taking my own life. I ended up in a psychiatric ward for months, had 12 sessions of ECT, was drugged out of my mind and am still heavily medicated to this day. I have never, nor will I ever recovered. The price l have paid goes way beyond money. It completely changed me as a person, very much for the worse ,my mental health was destroyed for ever. If….and I’m not holding my breath…but if there is a similar enquiry into the CSA as we are now seeing with the Post office I would welcome it, though at my age I doubt I’ll ever get to see the outcome of it.

As soon as the child support agency turned to child maintenance service, I went from being up to date with my payments to automatically being in arrears. I got signed off work with depression and I was self harming trying to get the courage to cut deeper. The final thing that drove me out of work was Christmas 2021. I was doing a temporary truck driving job which only lasted 7 weeks. I got my P45 at the end and it was done and dusted. They call me up 10 months later to tell me I owe them £12,000 for 7 weeks work. The kid is 20 this year and I found out he was working but had I not called them to tell them this, I would have still been paying. Honestly it's been unbearable. They threatened to take my car, take over 40% of my wages bear in mind that I have 5 children under my roof to support but they didn't care. They took out of the mouths of 5 to give one a lavish lifestyle.

I know fact that the csa cms added money on to the debt. 2 years I was depressed suicidal I would not get meds from the doctor. Left my job and lived of my now wife's student loan. 8k£ added for that period. Thier words "we don't care". All paid now and the children are older. A very dark period, one I don't think I will recover from.

I have an ongoing complaint where I say CMS perjured themselves in magistrates court. The "independent" complaint process apparently cannot obtain the transcript from the case (held on zoom or similar) to find out whether what I am saying is true. To say I have lost all respect for British justice is an understatement.

The CMS is not a balanced system at all, it adds NO value to Children's lives.
The % applied for paying parents is too high, doesn't take into account inflation, or paying parents bills, is calculated on gross pay...this is what is causing financial struggle, mental stress, anger , anxiety, depression which leads to suicide in some cases.
The CMS have made up arears that further exacerbates the above.
When you challenge the CMS, it takes ages to resolve and it further exacerbates the above mental health issues.
The CMS is creating an incentive for RP to gain more money if the children are alienated from the paying parents. This causes mental health issues to Paying parents and more importantly the Children.
    Solutions:
    1) Total decomission of CMS and encourage parents to be amicable.
    2) RP applies for CMS through court (that way Shared-custody can be included)...only then CMS get involved.
    3) Reduce the % or calculate it based on Net. This will encourage Paying Parent to contrubute to childrens lives, without putting up a fight/struggle.
