For those wondering why one civilian is dying at the last minute in normal mode, there's a rock coming from the right at 6:38 that Kyo didn't block which hits the civilians for some damage. If you brought an extra cheap/redeploy operator in your 12th slot (I brought my Projekt Red), you should be able to block the rock and buy them enough health to survive the stalling for the final enemy kill. Other comments have mentioned that this doesn't need to be done in Challenge mode because civilians have more health there.
Kyo you damn king. We should start paying taxes to you for your service to the community. I used the extra slot for Projekt Red and swapped out Plume for Kafka (fortunately Mlynar managed to kill the dog/rat before Beagle got overwhelmed). I deployed Kafka as the fourth operator, to block the very first boulder and give the civilian time to evacuate while swapping fast-redeploys in and out, then filled in the top right plank so the boulder would still damage the bottom right plank for Rope. That way that one civilian had enough HP to make it to the end.
- Collapse the 2 eastmost planks as soon as civilians trespass their columns not only to send 2 marauders to their deaths later on, but also to shield the civilians from the rolling stones from the easts. - Collapse all the upper planks every time civilians reaches their respective column to shield them from the stones in phase 1. - Good news here: civilians are far more cautious to the point they *Refuse* to reach the upper planks from 7 kills. - Stones will refuse to blow apart in cross shaped aoe if it reach an op with 0 block count, or had already blocked all enemies equal to his/her block count. This will blow ur defenses apart if u are not careful enough. - Put ur tanky part of ur frontline defense in the plankless row, and put fragile part away from the eastern rolling stones.
Nice guide kyo I also did this first try on challenge mode I just copy the normal one just need 3 defenders to manage protect the civilians and cover the falling rocks
Don't you hate when you're trying to complete cm and after 7 attempts you got it, but you missclicked at the start and did it in the normal mode by accident?
Definitely happens. The best way is to check HP remaining. We only have 1hp on challenge mode, 3hp means you're on normal so just exit the stage. Better than finding out after spending the time and sanity on clearing it.
Sheesh, I swear I followed your instructions to the mark and still, the 1st civilian literally has a Pixel of life left at the end. I have no clue what rock splash hit... But! I still got the last Challenge so... 100% Completion! Thanks Kyo!
Despite blocking, last minute civvie death still happens. I am not sure what is it that takes their last HP piece, since neither the shockwave nor other rocks reach them. So I musha-ed the enemy outside of Mlynar's reach. And it still wasn't fast enough.
Honestly I hate civ so much to the degree I didn't bother spending any efforts in this event, with no shame I followed guides for every single stage from first one to last one (except when making speedruns). Please stop making civ events, there's just no fun in babysitting them
ok i give up, cant clear this shit without max potential lancet tried similar strategies with better units but run into cost problems, and if i try to fix that issue with lesser units, i cant save the dumb civvies from jumping into holes
You have the operators underleveled or its something else? You can just have a E2 operator to go with a maxed Ling for the support unit and clear the stage only with her, like 구디님 NineD or Sciel
Kyo, this might be pin-worthy and definitely requires more testing by the community (rest, king, we'll do it ourselves) It is possible to shave some damage for civvies at start, once you deployed Gravel But it is tricky: you have to block first couple boulders on the tile BETWEEN breakable planks, once the HP gauge on the lower tile drops. INSTANTLY, that very second, put some Vanguard/Fast-Deploy on the tile in-between two plank tiles. It will damage the both tiles from outwards the vanguard tile, ticking down second hit on both. Thus, two times do this trick, and civvie doesn't get hit at first. DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK LATER ON I'M ABSOLUTELY NOT TESTING IT FURTHER
@@thedarkne I am not familiar with every single character's specific role, that's why I like to listen to him so I can know what characters to replace them with :)

@@SunDry_Marchy Might work (it did for me) if you block the very first boulder right at the gate to get some space between the boulder and the civilian. Then can follow up with the trick you described and deploying a plank on the top tile. But you also need to keep Myrtle around longer, and let a DP-Recovery vanguard stay a while before swapping it with the medic defender.

Kyo you need some rest too, dont force yourself too much, thanks for that all. Please, your health is important too.

Are you playing on normal mode? Civs have more HP in challenge mode due to them being considered enemies, meaning you have more time to stall
