One thing I liked about Yamamoto vs Driscoll is that Driscoll uses Chojiro’s stolen Bankai incorrectly. Chojiro gathered the lightning into his sword to augment himself, but Driscoll just blasts the lightning at his opponent.
That's because Chojiro had practised his bankai until it was worthy enough for Yama, i.e thousands of years of honing it and figuring out how to use it the most effectively, (the lightning gather sword charge). Driscoll had just acquired it and didn't know how to use it so he was spamming excess lightning everywhere which weakened the power per strike, compared to 1 - 3 focused harnessed strikes that Chojiro would've done which would deal more damage. (More concentration = more damage). But also fits Driscoll's character as the "overkill" to go overboard with his power, spamming many many strikes not realising that weakens the individual blasts, he's intentionally an arrogant egotistical character that thinks "more anything = more damage"
That’s what happens when you give a brute like Driscoll a casting Bankai. Imagine if he had Kensei’s or Koramura’s Bankai, probably put more of fight then.
It further serves to show the difference between the Shinigami and the Quincy. For the Quincy the Bankai they stole was just a fancy new toy they got, for the Shinigami their Bankai is a sign of pride and a a part of their soul they poured effort to achieve. One of the best additions of the anime imo.
@@chewy_buccaIt shows the disconnect between the Bankai owner and its stealer. Chojiro showed that augmentation when demonstrating it to Yamamoto long before he even began mastering it. Who knows what kind of techniques and alternate methods of using it he had created since then.
@@chewy_bucca In the flashback, Chojiro JUST achieved his bankai so he didn't have any real experience using it either. He was still able to scar Yama's face despite it being one of the first times he used it. So even Chojiro's first time was pretty solid to be able to permanently wound Yama. It's much more likely that it was Driscoll's ignorance and ego that made him use it completely wrong and act like he's a hot shot. Maybe Chojiro wasn't able to actually use it during his fight with Driscoll? It's hard to tell - the other captains got their bankai stolen literally right away and didn't get to attack with it even once.
It's pretty remarkable that Yamamoto ultimately did spare Harribel's Fracciones at all considering he himself declared essentially no quarter at the beginning when the battle lines were drawn. It serves as a contrast to his brutal incineration vengeance on Berci. Man did avenge Chojiro and then some.
Might have caused an imbalance if Aizen was as powerful as they believed. It's why they let the Arrancar walk out Reiokyu because killing them would cause an imbalance
@@nodatastored684Unlikely. That imbalance was due to the New Reio needing to be acclimated to his role. The barrier was extremely fragile at that point. During the Arrancar War, however, it was still at full power. It's more likely that Yamamoto just decided to spare them on a whim, making an exception to what he said previously out of admiration of their courage. Just another showing of how soft he had become. I can imagine Yhwach watching that moment and shaking his head in disgust.
I saw it as him just respecting their willingness to fight. You can see he treats the Gotei the same way, everyone on the battlefield is expected to give their all and fight to the death. But, anyone that does get struck down, all efforts are made to keep them alive after the fact. I think he treated the fracciones that same way, they were an enemy but they didn't back down against a much stronger opponent, instead they fought with everything they had, and since they ultimately really just weren't a threat, Yamamoto recognized their courage. If they cowered away, I have no doubt he would have killed them out of disgust.
one that could be enlisted as Honorable Mention is Isshin one-shotting Grande-Fisher due to their history and the fact that it revealed him as the former Captain of Soul Society
Yamamoto completely evaporating Driscoll is always going to be so unbelievably cool and will always get me hyped. When that incredible OST started playing in the anime as his bones turn to ash had me cheering.
I'd like to make an honourable mention on Nanao being put into a coma merely from Yamamoto glaring at her. That's one hell of an entrance for the Head Captain.
Number one shutting down Number One with a number one. Very poetic. A truly classic moment. Yama doing Nadegiri against Ayon was a great moment as well.
My favorite is the one where Yamamoto one-shots the Tres Beastias, but because of the respect he shows them by sparing them for their bravery. I really like those three and would've been sad to see them die. I also really like that he verbalizes this show of respect even tho he didn't bother to look at them.
Same. They are not really bad people especially Harribel who only wants peace and safety for them. It's great they ultimately survived all the horrors of war into the post TYBW era, turning Las Noches into a safe sanctuary.
The thing I love the most about aizen stopping ichigo is that the theme doesn’t just stop, it’s straight up destroyed. Because we don’t ever hear the original theme in the anime again (least the non filler bits) it’s mostly remixes when number 1 appears again
YES 🔥 I was getting nervous that Yamamoto v. Driscoll was going to get overlooked and forgotten about. But that is a scene that will forever live rent free in my head
11:00 i swear ichigos strength fluctuates like crazy, here he can randomly do this, but later on when he gets his bankai, hes suddenly way weaker at all times basically, only putting in work with his mask, without the mask his bankai seems to be weaker than his fists
A lot of information is tossed around. And revealed later (Almost to the point of seeming like a retcon). -It was later revealed that the combat pass he wears was suppressing his powers -It was later revealed that old man Zangetsu states that he originally did not wish for Ichigo to become a Soul Reaper, and did everything within his power to suppress his true potential. -It was later revealed that Ichigo's Zanpakutō was not using a true Zanpakutō, but instead wields one formed from his inherited fusion of Soul Reaper/Hollow powers. Later, Zangetsu is personally reforged by Ōetsu Nimaiya, using an actual Asauchi.
My favorite thing about Ichigo beating Chojiro with a single punch is that it really gives a hint at Ichigo's true power much later on in the story. The only reason Driscoll got the upper hand on Chojiro was because he caught him off guard, while Ichigo wrecked him head on.
I still remember 16 years old me giving animes a first shot with Bleach i wasnt terribly exited at first until i saw Byakuya oneshoting Ichigo that moment made me watch what little of the anime was available by then without bating an eye it was amazing and remains to feel incredible to this day on rewatch
Chojiro getting one shot by ichigo is why its always so hard to swallow that he was a captain level shinigami a huge oversight on Kubo's part really trying to make us believe that someone who got oneshot by no zanpackto soul society Ichigo was actually powerful
Agreed this should have been addressed since i scale a lot i tell myself for my mental sanity that he is a similar scenario to Yoruichi and has weakened like her but in his case it has happened to an extreme level
By that point, I Hugo is a captain level. So they're Poer scaling would be similar. I get it. Getting one shot is missed up. But it would make sense that Ichigo went through a Hell training to be able to take on whenever he barely survived Kenpachi.

Ichigo jacking up the 3 Vice Captains still gets me going!!!!!! If I need to get inspired and or pumped up I still play that clip from the anime and it's on!!!
Oetsu killing Schutzstaffel with one shot for each, except Askin, is still one of the best and most impressive showing of One-shot killing I've ever seen. Just shows you how strong the strongest Shinigami are.
I watched the whole OG anime,but it took me to read the manga to realize that Aizen slashed Ichigo in the stomach. I always thought that the sheer pressure of him tensing his finger down on Tensa Zangetsu after he caught the sword caused Ichigo to be sliced 😅
My fav one shot is (real) Yhwach and Yamamoto. Yamamoto once said that there is no greater security than him. But he's easily defeated by Yhwach makes us scared of things to come.
When Yamamoto went Bankai against "Fake Ywach why Driscoll/The Overkill didn't made an appereance as he aweakened the ashes of the dead ? Realised that just now and the anime had the chance to rectify that minor plot id say ?
Whether or not it's technically a one-shot is contentious, but in my opinion if you are getting utterly demolished and never land a single hit on your opponent, then get a massive power up and take them down in one attack, that should count as a one-shot. To that end, Uryuu vs. Mayuri is an absolutely beautiful and powerful battle. Easily one of the most emotionally charged fights in the series. Yes, Uryuu technically uses two arrows, but only one is used against Mayuri. The other is more just to show his dominance by destroying the Bankai. If Uryuu had done ANY damage before his Letz Stihl, I wouldn't consider it a valid one-shot, but since he literally did none at all, it should absolutely count to me.
Isane was destined for obscurity the moment she got one-shotted by Ichigo. It’s pretty sad tbh😢 Imagine having centuries of combat training just to be completely embarrassed by a fifteen year-old who’s had his powers for a week. Shonen MC magic!
im actually surprised, to me the most iconic one shot is ichigo with his mask against that one hollow guy, that kill was so iconic, in alot of videogames, ichigos strongest attack would have that same exact animation.
This might not count for the list but I'd like to make an honorable mention of Gin pushing Ichigo (and giant Jidanbo braced under the gate) out of the Sereitei with one attack.
Ichigo one shoting chojiro is still a bit of a oversight on kubos part and its quite sad that at the time he was just a lieutenant so it made sense that ichigo who fought kenpachi and byakuya to a draw would be able to do this .... but then we get to the final arc and kubo has to make a statement ,he kills someone ... he killed chojiro, but at this point he has no feats ... so he makes him a "genius" that was give the position of captain a few times ,he is aparently older than kyoraku and ukitake and much more skilled than them with a bankai that is on the lvl that it can affect the weather ( so similar to hiorynmaru but he managed this with training ) ,bankai that yamamoto himself praised and was also able to leave him scared and the anime made him a very important soldier in defeating yhwach And to top it all he aparently never stoped training and honing his skills but somehow hisagi was able to survive against driscol for far longer ,even after driscol killed 100 more reapers and got stronger Chojiro had the potential to be a very interesting and powerful player throughout the entire series ... but kubo said "nah"
Aizen is virtually never going for the kill, so of course he doesn't have many one shots, when he took out the gotei 13 and visored he literally said he purposely left them alive so they'd be paralyzed but forced to watch the destruction of the soul society and karakura town, trust of Aizen wants you down in one shot, you're going down in one shot.
A 1-shot fight for me needs to meet 2 conditions and 1 optional condition to be good: 1. It has to be so quick the opponent has no time to even process that they lost until they start falling apart 2. It has to be in-character for all parties 3 (optional). It needs to have an edge of dark humor. This is completely personal preference, but it's why I rate Kenpachi vs "time tells no lies" highest on my personal list. The whole "well that was a waste of 30 seconds" feeling Kenpachi gives off while the guy behind him is splitting in half dumbfounded is so perfect that I can't keep a straight face whenever I see it. Most of the top 10 fit 1 of the major criteria, and the top 5 hit 2 of them, but besides that one, the only other one that came close to the optional condition is Byakuya vs Ichigo which played it too far on the tragic side for the jab to hit right.
When the strongest up-and-coming Shinigami with the highest potential, HitsuGOATya, fought the fraud Sosuke Aizen, he began to use his Bankai. Aizen shrunk back in fear, then HitsuGOATya said "Stand proud, Aizen, you're strong...". I still get chills every time I read that part of CFYOW...
What intrigues me most when Byakuya slashed Ichigo was how Byakuya wasn’t wearing his shihakusho. Wasn’t a captain supposed to wear them at all times even when on the real world? Or did Kubo forgot to draw them coz he was still not sure and didn’t conceive of the shihakusho to differentiate Captain and his lieutenant?
I would put komamura and aizen higher, but there were already lots of one shots in the few episodes before, so it seemed more normal then it would be on its own
Yamamoto cooking Driscoll was so damn badass and graphic. Then there’s Yhwach cleaving Yamamoto in half in what might be the single most devastating and gruesome one shot in the series.
I couldn't help but laugh whenever I hear about Ichigo's theme music stopping when Aizen basically hoed him wit that finger block. It really did show the major power gap between the two, and how long the journey came when Ichigo transcends, and, tbh, would've been awesome to see Ichigo do the same thing, paralleling the last situation. Hand vs Finger, it's still pretty iconic, seeing how much Ichigo has come from gettin owned to him owning the fight after coming from the Dangai.
Considering that Ichigo and Aizen were in the top spot, I was surprised that of all the one-shots in the series you didn't mention Dangai Ichigo obliterating ascended Aizen. Yes, they trade blows before Ichigo activates his big trump card, but as soon as he transforms it's just a single swing of the blade and the main villain of the series is absolutely DOMINATED.
@@SamuelBrown92 it was pretty openly showed that his powers gained from the hogyoku were rapidly disappearing. he wasn't KILLED, but he was defeated in a single swing
17:00 So I have a theory (a game ... sorry) about why the miracle dosnt activate it’s one V 4 in favour of the bearer of the miracle that’s not very heroic now is it, another way to look at it is it’s a miracle that they all get resurrected. It’s also possible that the strike actually hit his cross taking out his power and that it was only the fact he got an outside power boost that reformed it?
Some one-shots that weren’t in the list that I also like are: -Yamamoto one-shotting the three sternlitter -Yhwach pulling up on Yama -Kenpachi also making quick work of 3 sternlitter (2 of them were one-shots) -My glorious king Kira getting snipped (rlly surprised this one didn’t make it into the list) + Can’t remember if Ishin vs grand fisher was a one-shot
So many incredible iconic moments on this list. Would you consider Yhwach finishing Yama off to be a one shot? Figured if so it might have deserved a shout
Yama vs Driscoll will never be topped in quite possibly any anime imo, the stern Ritter seemed invincible and for yama to destroy one that easily along w the music that played w it really showed us for the first time what Yama was truly capable of

My favorite is Bambietta defeating Shinji instanly in vollstandig, especially in the anime. It's HILARIOUS.
Shinji should had that fight but got cocky. And now that we know Bambietta rank amongst the Bambies its even more embarrassing.

For me AIZEN soloing the captains and vizards is just the ultimate flex. It just shows how AIZEN is built different (btw it was already obvious)
Aizen did Ichigo dirty, good that Ichigo got him back a little with Dangai.

I lost a bet with my friend on the Giriko vs. Kenpachi fight back in the day because I fully expected Giriko to get back up.

Not only that, but we never really found out what his shikai ability was. Unfortunately, this has effected Isane"s power scaling, as well.

Ichigo by that point had defeated an unpatched Zaraki and had always had ridiculous physical traits that surpassed most soul reapers.
My favourite was Aizen vs gotei 13.
That showed us just how insignificant gotei and espada were in front of Aizen
perfect list, i think many of not most of us would have placed all these moments in the same spots you have.
I love the scene with Driscoll because it's one of the few times in anime that fire is given proper respect.

i would have included, Kenpach 2hands vs Noi, and Also Mugestu and Vasto Lorde moments were both 1 shots when he cared too.
I think I would swap your number 1 and 2 but other than that; I pretty much agree.

Whether or not it's technically a one-shot is contentious, but in my opinion if you are getting utterly demolished and never land a single hit on your opponent, then get a massive power up and take them down in one attack, that should count as a one-shot.
To that end, Uryuu vs. Mayuri is an absolutely beautiful and powerful battle. Easily one of the most emotionally charged fights in the series.
Yes, Uryuu technically uses two arrows, but only one is used against Mayuri. The other is more just to show his dominance by destroying the Bankai.
If Uryuu had done ANY damage before his Letz Stihl, I wouldn't consider it a valid one-shot, but since he literally did none at all, it should absolutely count to me.

im actually surprised, to me the most iconic one shot is ichigo with his mask against that one hollow guy, that kill was so iconic, in alot of videogames, ichigos strongest attack would have that same exact animation.

This might not count for the list but I'd like to make an honorable mention of Gin pushing Ichigo (and giant Jidanbo braced under the gate) out of the Sereitei with one attack.

Ichigo one shoting chojiro is still a bit of a oversight on kubos part and its quite sad that at the time he was just a lieutenant so it made sense that ichigo who fought kenpachi and byakuya to a draw would be able to do this .... but then we get to the final arc and kubo has to make a statement ,he kills someone ... he killed chojiro, but at this point he has no feats ... so he makes him a "genius" that was give the position of captain a few times ,he is aparently older than kyoraku and ukitake and much more skilled than them with a bankai that is on the lvl that it can affect the weather ( so similar to hiorynmaru but he managed this with training ) ,bankai that yamamoto himself praised and was also able to leave him scared and the anime made him a very important soldier in defeating yhwach
And to top it all he aparently never stoped training and honing his skills but somehow hisagi was able to survive against driscol for far longer ,even after driscol killed 100 more reapers and got stronger
Chojiro had the potential to be a very interesting and powerful player throughout the entire series ... but kubo said "nah"

11:34 is hilarious in hindsight. Considering the one in the center got one-shotted.
Aizen is virtually never going for the kill, so of course he doesn't have many one shots, when he took out the gotei 13 and visored he literally said he purposely left them alive so they'd be paralyzed but forced to watch the destruction of the soul society and karakura town, trust of Aizen wants you down in one shot, you're going down in one shot.
A 1-shot fight for me needs to meet 2 conditions and 1 optional condition to be good:
1. It has to be so quick the opponent has no time to even process that they lost until they start falling apart
2. It has to be in-character for all parties
3 (optional). It needs to have an edge of dark humor. This is completely personal preference, but it's why I rate Kenpachi vs "time tells no lies" highest on my personal list. The whole "well that was a waste of 30 seconds" feeling Kenpachi gives off while the guy behind him is splitting in half dumbfounded is so perfect that I can't keep a straight face whenever I see it. Most of the top 10 fit 1 of the major criteria, and the top 5 hit 2 of them, but besides that one, the only other one that came close to the optional condition is Byakuya vs Ichigo which played it too far on the tragic side for the jab to hit right.

I loved kenpachi doing the fullbringer dude down, and aizen vs the captains after he stopped playing as much...
What intrigues me most when Byakuya slashed Ichigo was how Byakuya wasn’t wearing his shihakusho. Wasn’t a captain supposed to wear them at all times even when on the real world? Or did Kubo forgot to draw them coz he was still not sure and didn’t conceive of the shihakusho to differentiate Captain and his lieutenant?
I would put komamura and aizen higher, but there were already lots of one shots in the few episodes before, so it seemed more normal then it would be on its own
Yamamoto cooking Driscoll was so damn badass and graphic. Then there’s Yhwach cleaving Yamamoto in half in what might be the single most devastating and gruesome one shot in the series.

I couldn't help but laugh whenever I hear about Ichigo's theme music stopping when Aizen basically hoed him wit that finger block. It really did show the major power gap between the two, and how long the journey came when Ichigo transcends, and, tbh, would've been awesome to see Ichigo do the same thing, paralleling the last situation. Hand vs Finger, it's still pretty iconic, seeing how much Ichigo has come from gettin owned to him owning the fight after coming from the Dangai.
Considering that Ichigo and Aizen were in the top spot, I was surprised that of all the one-shots in the series you didn't mention Dangai Ichigo obliterating ascended Aizen. Yes, they trade blows before Ichigo activates his big trump card, but as soon as he transforms it's just a single swing of the blade and the main villain of the series is absolutely DOMINATED.
It's not a one shot cause Aizen was already quickly recovering. Urahara's sealing stopped him

17:00 So I have a theory (a game ... sorry) about why the miracle dosnt activate it’s one V 4 in favour of the bearer of the miracle that’s not very heroic now is it, another way to look at it is it’s a miracle that they all get resurrected.
It’s also possible that the strike actually hit his cross taking out his power and that it was only the fact he got an outside power boost that reformed it?
