Saw your recent video Kodak Ektachrome 100 Review - and man your work is soooo good and I love how you break down your process and just showcase the way you run a photoshoot that is on film!!
I had just seen a reel that every photographer forgets every adjective except one when they’re shooting, yours is definitely “Sick” 😅 but love these shots you made great use of even the most basic backdrop…made me want to do a photo walk!
Another vid another banger! Keep up the great work! I am more than happy to have found your channel as I am first starting out with analog :D Would love to hear your opinion on what film stocks to get if Porta and Cinestil is to expensive to shoot regularly as a student (environmental portraits & travel)👀
Thanks so much for watching!! I appreciate that. As far as what films to by that are cheaper I love Kodak gold 200 and Ultramax 400 is a cool one for good colors! Ektar 100 is also a favorite
Thanks so much for subscribing!! I use a canon eos 630 it’s an SLR film camera! Really great camera for people just starting to shoot film and for people who are years in.
I think Portra 400 has the capability to shoot indoor well because that 400 speed iso is gonna help you with more low light situations compared to like Portra 160 but if you have enough light indoor there shouldn’t be any issues! I look at Portra like a great all around film stock for any situation really.
@ Thank you! I feel sometimes it comes out to contrasty even outdoors…. So I’ve tried getting the more airy look by using Portra 800 but still not totally satisfied….. idk…. Trial and Error … I’m going to keep going till I get it right….
Definitely! Maybe try shooting Portra 400 at 800 ISO to get more of that less contrasted look or just work on overexposing 400 with your shutter & aperture
Good morning and happy new year, when you shoot with the Canon EOS 630 in aperture priority, do you usually use exposure compensation or do you let the camera meter normally to finish the photo? Thanks
Happy New Year! I've been shooting with Canon for 12 years and their light meters have always been on point so I just use the settings its reading for most of my film photography on this camera!
Thanks yo!! Luckily enough a lot of them are homies of mine but also living in Los Angeles you just have such a wide variety of cool looking people lol so I just reach out
The only one I’ve used is lomo 800! It turned out pretty sweet definitely great colors! I shot it near the last half of this video if you wanna take a look 🙌 th-cam.com/video/dS5h4f6u2_M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xHSQ4-3aR7YiLJFA
Most of yall shoot portra 400 because yall wanna look alike. Thats the reason why most of yalls pics come out looking the same tone wise and its cuz most people just settle because the general consensus is that portra is the best looking film. Its not even the best looking kodak film.. portra 400 is the safe option. Most people can't shoot other films and handle em correctly cuz all alotta yall know is portra 400. Truth is alotta beginner photographers jump to portra when they first start shooting film because youtubers made it popular to do so. There are many great options besides portra 400 and especially within kodaks lineup. And let me correct myself, I don't wanna say that most people "Can't" shoot other film stocks, I just think most people get stuck on portra because its the popular option.
The latitude in Portra 400 is what makes it stand out for me & why it’s probably the stock I’d choose everytime for shooting professional work For my own personal work though I love the warmth of Kodak Gold 200 & it’s not that far behind Portra in its latitude either
That's a great idea! I'm always looking for new ways to connect with viewers and help them improve their photography so that might be coming in the new year!

The sample photos go crazy! I'm so curious about your scanning method. They look like darkroom prints.
Thank you!! I drop them off at a lab then once I get the scans back I put my touch on them. 🙌 no darkroom but would love to experiment in one some day
@@SkylerWagoner Good ol' lab scan! 🙌🏾Your work is dope!

BRAVO! Okay so…….. When shooting indoor with Portra 400 should you suggest using lighting ? Or do you find that it’s good without it?
I think Portra 400 has the capability to shoot indoor well because that 400 speed iso is gonna help you with more low light situations compared to like Portra 160 but if you have enough light indoor there shouldn’t be any issues! Thanks man! Shot these with a mix of 24-70 2.8 canon and the 50mm 1.8 canon!
Have you used Lomography’s ? If not, it would be cool to see what you think of it and see what you come up with the different colored films!
The only one I’ve used is lomo 800! It turned out pretty sweet definitely great colors! I shot it near the last half of this video if you wanna take a look 🙌

Appreciate that!! 🙌🙌
The reason everybody shoots Portra 400 is simply because its basically the only professional grade 400 speed color film left.
Also another reason yes!
Is that Jim Morrison's son??
Hahah it definitely could be cause the looks!!
Film..
