- Thank you for your feedback, and I agree, the way I build this bathroom is far from standard, that's what I like about it. The moisture issue in the shower area had to be addressed, so hopefully I have been clear in explaining how I want to tackle it.
Join me today in getting one step closer to putting in the grout.

My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.
I love the voice overs, keeps being informative and belays the need for you to stop and talk, though that could be helpful at times too. x
Lots of careful work and good progress!
Great job and great video. Thanks!
I don't know why people don't know where the drain is, didn't they watch you build the floor? It's really coming together now, you must be feeling good about getting to the next stage with the shower. Putting the waterproof layer on the floor first was a good idea just in case. I'm not entirely sure about the waterproof grout, it seems silly not to be able to get a bathroom product that isn't waterproof but I haven't tiled in years, so I'm not sure. Great progress, I'm looking forward to seeing the next stage. 👌❤️
When doing a tile floor you shall always use a dead material under the tile as armed plaster board or concrete. There are special armed board for flooring.
Looking good!
✨🌞✨
Dont let others opinions get to you, my husband redid our kitchen floor, being a perfectionist it took longer than most folks but its beautiful .
So do your best and all will be fine😁👍❤
Oh my gosh, someone get this hard-working guy some new work shoes...😊
Mooi gewerkt weer. Komt aardig schot in 😊
Hi Sam,your voice over is terrific 😄 Yess the tile is getting installed!!!
If you have a spare tube of silicone (clear would be best) you could apply some to the soles your brown sneakers! Just had to do the same and my sneakers are now good as new. Clamp them for a few days before wearing again.
You're going to be using that saw a lot during your renovation, built yourself a run off table / support for cutting large sheet goods by yourself!
You protect your eyes, your lungs, your ears. You should protect your toes too!
There is no waterproof grout...😥
Beautiful work glad to see your lovely girlfriend is back home with you .
A smooth floor in the shower could be very slippery, in that case there are anti-slip stickers.
❤
I'm confused. Where is the drain?
Wish you would post more videos. Do you work a full time job and work on the villa when you can?
Love your building but hate to bring it to you that waterproof grout doesn’t exist..water will find its way through; you need a waterproof membrane under shower tiles. Like Kerdi Schluter membrane
While this is true there is a product that you can paint over the grout that seals it. It does need to be reapplied every so often and thats dependant on what cleaning solution you use.
The water proof membrane is the only real solution to use assuring a water tight seal.
Good luck with what you've got.
Yes epoxy "waterproof" grout is recommended, apply in small area (not the whole wall) as it will set up in a short time. Once the epoxy grout sets up it is impossible to remove with water or anything else. Read the directions! (Been there done that. )
Sorry to add a criticism,
but it is a mistake that I have also made in the past,
under the shower there must be a waterproof sheath.
Personally I was forced to remove the tiles and the rotten bottom after a year of use, I asked for advice and I redid everything with a pool sheath and a non-metallic skimming net with a 0.5 mm mesh, first the liquid sheath then the net to sink in with the spatula.
Did not see a drain in the shower floor.
I'm not convinced the water proof grout will work. Good luck and watch for drips. Seeing damage could take years with rot on the beams between the floors.
😆🤣плитка «по уровню»
Потолок даже не шпаклевали, просто сразу красят.
Gosh! Use some of that tile glue on your shoe!
Before you break your neck!
.......oh weh, Schuh kaputt.........
I can't believe you spent 1 year so far and still not progress in renovating the villa. It is really boring.
🤍
Without a proper seamless shower pan liner, I think you are going to run into problems.
You are making a huge mistake on the shower with no water protection underneath of it.
This shower will never be waterproof. It is hard to understand why it is done this way. This not easier nor cheaper than the proper way.
