Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik Soh made history for their country, when they won the bronze medal in the men's badminton doubles event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The pair defeated Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in a thrilling three-set match, 17-21, 21-17, 21-14.

The momentum shifted when Aaron/Soh managed to level the 2nd set at 12-12, before that Ahsan/Setiawan were in control and so hard for Aaron/Soh to fight through.
Thanks Olympic channel. I'm from 🇲🇾 and we're waiting for this MD bronze medal full match for a long time! Rather ironic that Chia and Soh failed to win a single HSBC BWF World Tour title at that time (until they won their first title at Denmark Open 2023) when they won the 🥉 in Tokyo.
And they are current world champion too and not won even super 300 world tour title .
Winning a medal in their first Olympic appearance is an amazing feat, also by beating Kevin/Gideon in the quarterfinals.
it's actually amazing that the Malaysian pair have better mental and calmness in big events. cuz usually Ahsan/Setiawan are more calmed and composed. when the Malaysian found their turning point, the Indonesian pair could not hold it any longer. this also happened in World Championship 2022 where Ahsan/Setiawan was leading quite far and suddenly the Malaysian pair were able to bounce back and won the title. we are now entering Paris 2024 qualifications and I would still like to see Ahsan/Setiawan participate in their last Olympic tournament.
