I love whem you do the second camera "behind the scene" shots. It's interesting and helps me really see how you are using the gear to get the beautiful shot.
Appreciate your tips on using fabric to bounce the light. This really gives people on a tighter budget good options for home made kits that will actually work well! Thank you!
I have this light and love it. The big issue for me is that the NP-F battery grip that fits the ML60ii bi does NOT fit it. The cable doesn’t reach and power input port for the cable is on the opposite side of the unit as opposed to the ML60. So they have to make a proprietary grip. Also the Bowens adapter even though listed everywhere is not yet available in the US. I bought this light to travel to Indonesia in Sept and am stuck with these limitations… for now.
@@curtisjudd So I reached out to Godox about how the NP-Grip doesn’t fit. They wrote back : “Thanks for contacting Godox. We regret to inform you that the design considerations for the AK-B01 did not account for its use with the ML100Bi due to the short life of NPF batteries when used with the ML100Bi. Based on the feedback from our technical team, we have decided that we will not be producing a dedicated NPF battery grip kit for the ML100Bi at this time.” So that’s a bummer. i did manage to connect the AK-01 grip and run the light with two new NP-F970 bats from Smallrig. At 100% it ran for a little over one hour. I wonder how this might affect the battery? Any ideas? There are barrel extension cord that can fit to allow use of the AK-B01 grip.
There are only so many APP's one can deal with, so I've made the decision to stay with Amraan/Apature since I already have so many of their lights. Great review as always!
These tiny lights are so clutch. Did an ultra quick setup outdoors yesterday at blue hour with a similar light from a competing brand. Having this amount of output "in your camera bag" for remotes opens up for a whole lot of possibilities and gives you a bit more time to get things done in a more comfortable pace.
Great video. Honest and to the point. Also, really refreshing to hear someone say directly "Company X gave the product Y* to me, for free" which immediately makes me trust the reviewer more than if he dances around the subject. I can´t remember any other reviewer doing that anymore...I think there were few in the past, but haven´t seen anyone else doing that lately. Instead, they keep saying "Company X sent me...but they have no say on my opinion about..." or "I received X..., but all my opinions are my own" or "They send me X , but this video is NOT sponsored by..." Sure, if someone "receives" something worth maybe 100 bucks it may not skew his opinion about the product too much...but when they keep "receiving" products (and conveniently not telling if they have to send it back...) worth hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars per item it makes me wonder how they are "not sponsored" and how honest their reviews really are. So kudos to you for saying bluntly that it was given to you for free, makes me trust your opinion much more!
Anyone who receives product for free is in a business relationship with the brand. I’ve yet to see a reviewer in such a relationship become so disgruntled with a product they conclude it’s going back. Most of the initial hits for product reviews are professional reviewers or influencers. So getting an unbiased review from them is near impossible. I prefer a regular Joe or Jane that bought the item with their own money and enthusiasm to get a take that although may be less thorough or succinct, isn’t held hostage by the brand. In cases like the video above, this reviewer is very good at explaining the details as he knows what he’s doing both technically and theatrically. But at the end of the day, he will want the brands he is associated with to send him more free stuff to review. If one or maybe two reviews end up in the toilet, he may not see another item from that brand again, as he would be deemed a high risk reviewer. Though I can’t say where the exact thresholds lie. Take it all with a grain of salt and look for patterns from different sources to determine the facts and how they pertain to you.
@@WINDSHEAR-STUDIO All good points. For what it is worth, there are brands who no longer send or even loan me gear to make reviews. I'm ok with that - I have everything I need. Are these kinds supposed to be used for a fraction of time than the regular shoe box shaped CoB lights (like you showed in 3:58), Like cameras have 29:59 time limit & over extended use will heat them up whereas a regular video camera can be recorded for hours and hours.. Aside from the simplest, portability & DC Power supply, which people is this suited for? (like 30 minute video shoot, outdoor photography, etc).
With the fans this should be fine for extended use. We’ll see how many years it lasts, but there aren’t any limitations on session time that I’ve run into yet.
Is this the "Godox Mount"? the one that's on the ML60, AD300 etc? There are quite a few softboxes and modifiers for that mount. It's proprietary to Godox but it's found across their range so lots of accessories for it.

Hello Curtis. Thank you for this very good review. Does magenta dissapear with softbox ? Is it possible to use godox umbrella softbox with this light ?
It depends on the soft box and note that LED lights tend to become more green after hours of use, so the magenta issue will eventually become less of a problem (though I'm not sure how LONG it will take). I'm not familiar with the Godox umbrella softbox.
This is related to a previous question. How long did you have this light on in your testing? I’m thinking of getting a couple but I have seen other reviews saying this light got hot when left on for long periods of time and I’m worried.
