What the title says: Is Lil Nas X a rapper?
No none of his songs has ever been popular are rap songs… literally. Honestly not trying to say this but i feel like yall are labeling him a rapper because he’s black. I mean all of his albums are either country or alternative or pop.
@@Jovaughnbey123he raps in the songs, ergo he's a rapper dude lol. I think you are just trying to be a gatekeeper because you are jealous of how popular he is and how successful he has been. God forbid someone try something new in the industry, so you try and act like he's not a rapper lol. Who the fuck are you to decide that? A nobody, exactly.
When you toggle between hip hop/pop/dance genres you are just labeled a music artist at that point. The rapper label has been thrown around loosely by everyone who’s not familiar with hip hop culture.
Nope
Does he have any Hip-Hop songs?? I've literally only heard him sing
“A turkey sandwich, only tomatoes? Guaranteed.” always makes me laugh
Lol I tried it after seeing this episode and pretty much has been my go to ever since 😂
It sounds good. I think I tried it when I used to work at a restaurant.
I don't know if that's how he likes his sandwich or if it's a mediocre sandwich since it's only tomato yet even that is above a hoe 😂
😂😂😂😂…the way he said it was hilarious
Nah this episode actually made me feel bad for Gangstalicious. Makes sense why he kept his sexuality a secret when you see how everyone treated him in the end💀
Also, how that attitude is just detrimental on the whole; their own homophobia cost the Lethal Interjection crew their chance to make a sick remix and get paid.
@@mp6640This
it aint that deep
@@tonyhormiga5242 just say you’re dumb lil bro 😭
@@tonyhormiga5242it’s actually pretty deep kinda representative of how rap culture would treat someone like gangstalicious irl…like imagine if a popular rapper of today came out as gay u really think everyone would still fw him as heavy as they originally did?💀
Hueys reaction to the music video in the beginning gets me every time he's wtf is Riley watching
What media literacy does to a mf
This is one of the most important episodes of the series because it deconstructs Riley and people's perspectives on him. It can be argued that Riley is the most popular character in the show and that his character has quite an extreme massive ammount of fans. This is due to his relatability and how real his portrayal of being a hood black kid, as opposed to his hyper-aware brother. The common praise Riley gets is his "tell it like it is attitude", but therein lies the problem that many people miss with his character.
Riley is basically the "cartman" of boondocks only 99% less evil, 98% of the time he is portraying the general satire of the episode and is not the character you are supposed to agree with, a surrogate for what is being mocked and is the joke. This is noted by his most famous line "N*gga thats gay", but this episode shows that Riley (just like many black youths and adults in that era and somewhat now) doesn't really know what gay is. He enjoys a stream of hyper-masculine/ tuff media that displays that in order to be on top and to "make it" you need to be "hard" and tuff. Anything of sensitivity, vulnerability, femininity, or weakness is a no from what he intakes, and being "Gay" from what he thinks he understands is the ultimate embodiment of that.
Riley truly is ignorant when he "tells it like it is", not just because he is a child, but because he has never been shown better. The media and the social circle it comprises create a feedback loop that doesn't show any better. I love this episode so much because it serves as a reminder of how far we have come and how far we still have left to go.
Fun Fact: If you look closely the Homies over Hoes video is the first acting credit for a young Korra before her breakout hit: Avatar the Legend of Korra.
Oof Haha.
who are ya referring to?
@@danielscott5673 the one on the right hand side of the screen with the blue dress.
I see it 😂😂😂
you're referring to studio mir, the same animation studio that did both boondocks and korra. i see. lol
MC Lyte isn’t gay lol. She was married for close to 2 decades to her husband. She actually hates being labeled it since only due to her being more tom boyish in early rap career
That could just mean she’s bi. But still if she hasnt said she was ppl should respect that
@@Feedback72she’s openly said she’s straight meanwhile someone like Latifah has always had rumors
She even has a song where she's talking about picking up little boys 😂😂
@@TribalCheif-ku4vnbillie is bi she has been with multiple black man in the past.
Who is Billie? @@jspsand7085
"I have that exact skirt". Low key GOLD.
Love this episode. It's another great commentary on fan culture, it's so obvious but Riley can't see it or acknowledge it. Riley who calls everything gay can't see the obvious. Hip Hop has FOREVER had questionable lyrics in songs. Also it's a whole lot easier, especially now, for a woman to be gay or bi in music . Janelle Monae is a perfect example, she still has her regular audience.
thank you chris i was shouting tyler the creator at my tv lol
He still hasn’t officially came out but it’s definitely in all his music lol
I thought I was taking CRAZY PILLS 💊
@@gotone2513 you can find an old interview when he was dating a guy and says he doesn't really date black guys and cites his (at the time) white boyfriend as an example. I don't now how much more out you can be or what makes it "official" but that's the closest you'll get.
@@d4c467bro is anti black 😂 that’s wild
He's bisexual and he doesn't date black men, women are a different story tho
13:43 I had to go back three times. I swore at the end of the episode Navi said "I understand, especially gay ass Busta Rhymes"
Yo same I was taken all the way back lol
No, “a special guest Busta Rhymes.”
The only episode where Uncle Ruckus isn't overly racist. He's just overtly homophobic.
There's also the series finale but that's season 4 so....
"Prison culture, get ripped, ride or die, homies first, hardcore shit!"
"That seems kind of..............."
Indeed it does/was..
Kevin Abstract, of BROCKHAMPTON fame, is a talented rapper/song writer
Very transparent about his sexuality in and outside of his music
Wake up and smell the gay coffee 😂😂
2:37 I know this is wrong but Laffy Taffy was the first song I remember knowing every lyric for 😂
Loving this series so far! Hope you guys watch Black Dynamite too at some point in the future
Why are they sharing a room in that big ass house they should have like 20 bedrooms lmao
Yo!! Do I haven’t watched this in I don’t know how long but the song title came on the screen and it was immediate memory unlocked. I was singing the song before the video even started 😂😂😂😂
Got traumatized so badly from last episode that couch is 3 people shott. Anyways its weirdly nice to see ruckus actually consoling Robert even if he is being homophobic
You know, it's funny how "pause" is so openly accepted, even though it is essentially just a form of open homophobia. It also says alot that people are so insecure that they need to make sure people don't think their gay or "sus" for saying innuendos accidentally.
Wonder what you'll think when you find out that most guys act gay to their friends all the time cuz they think its funny. Which it is
Because of this epidode i still listen to "rock and roll gangster" On TH-cam
If something makes you uncomfortable, it's nothing wrong with that.
Force some one to agree with your thoughts is wrong.
The way that this episode isn’t about 50 cent at all😂 I’m so dead.
MC Lyte isn't gay. She had a full-fledged relationship with rapper D-Nice. Of "they call me D-Nice," fame.
Gay Coffee is Tea BTW lmao
18:48 Yep, the only "big roles" he got were the Star Trek movies. He's been getting some work as voice actor but it's not the same. I only know NOS4A2 exists because he was attached to it - and it was a good watch but it was also a much smaller project than Heroes or American Horror Story.
J Cole definitely talks about guns and violence lol maybe the way he talks about it is different but he still talks about it
Do the homie!!
Do the homie!!
Do the homie!!
Do the homie!!
The closest thing to an open gay rapper is someone named Saucy Santana. And even with him, there’s a ceiling and is more seen as a meme/social media-influencer type than a respected hip hop artist
Eh, we got Lil Nas X on the pop/rap side, we got Kevin Abstract. Tyler and Frank Ocean are openly Bi. I feel like we made a lot of progress.
Edit: And even if you say one them isn't a "rapper", they're highly respected and popular in the hip hop community. Mad songs with Jay Z and the actual Nas and shit. RnB and hip hop are always connected, and these dudes are accepted in the community.
@@dojo999Lil Nas X is more pop than he is rap and is vastly rejected. Frank is a singer who has rapped. Tyler is the most solid choice here. And even then, if we go to the theme, none of them are “street/hardcore” rappers.
@@dojo999Young MA is probably your best choice, but even with her, lesbian
@@TribalCheif-ku4vn Well then I guess it depends what "side" of the hip hop community you're speaking to. If you mean the "hardcore" rap side, then yeah, them niggas ain't ever gonna be down with it. The closest you'll get is Young Thug and Uzi Vert wearin dresses and shit, which still, I think is a big step forwards.
But not all rap fans are just heavy into "hardcore" rap. We got J Cole, we got Drake's sassy ass, yes he is a rapper, don't front. And Kendrick just put out "Auntie Diaries" about trans folk. These are "The Big 3" to a lot of modern rap fans. Just sayin.
@@dojo999it’s not about what all rap fans are into. The episode is in relation to street rap. None of those people would fall into that category is the point.
I honestly like that if Huey doesn’t know much about a topic he does a bit research instead of staying ignorant about the topic. While Riley is an impressionable kid who doesn’t have the best role models.
Huey: i had a dream about Mohammed Ali last night but he was fighting Joe Frasier not kissing him 😂😂😂
Don't know if anyone ever noticed this, but alot of the times when they are talking about black or minority things in general, Marketta is so uncomfortable😁. She's like, "I'm a let the brown folks handle that shit"!🤣🤣🤣
This episode genuinely makes me sad even as a kid I always felt bad. Now i cant hear Rock and Roll Gangsta without my eyes welling up a little bit. Maybe thats nostalgia tho
The Stussy beanie with the infrared 6’s is cold Chris!!😮💨🤝
Another great episode.
Suraj naming every white industry plant he can possibly think of
Next two episodes are straight fire, yall better tell yall editor not to mess them up
Yep been waiting for this.😂😂
You look great Marketa
What restaurant were you eating at that they played the boondocks 😂
This episode came out in february in 2008
It’s a healthy list of lgbt rappers out or kinda out the closet.
Young Ma
Lil Nas X
Kevin Abstract
Tyler The Creator
Queen Latifah
Big Freedia
Azalea Banks
Da Brat
Chika
Isiah Rashad
Saucy Santana
And also they didn't make a distinction from gay men and bi men in this video. They keep calling Frank Ocean gay, when he is bi IIRC. Maybe in their defense they don't know this yet lol.
Mos Def did the voice of Gangstalicious. Great reaction
Did anyone of you'll noticed that the girl in the blue dress in the music video looked like avatar Korra?????
I love this episode guys
this episode is so perfect it predicted the young thug dress era and niggas thought that shit was cool bc thug had it on😭
Looks like Chris got an eaaaaattteerrr congrats my man
I’m surprised I haven’t seen a single person in the video or comments mention Tyler the Creator. Everyone else being named is either not a full rapper or not super popular but Tyler is one of the most popular rappers in the world and been openly gay for 6 years
Late as hell but, this makes me think of Isaiah Rashad who was forcibly outed and didn't really fall off but for personal reasons wasn't trying to be in the public view, he was a pretty private guy to begin with though
Only gay rappers I can think of is Young M.A. and Saucy Santana. Some people may count Lil Nas X as one but he’s more on the pop side of music
Isaiah Rashad and he got a good response from the masses
Queen Latifah and the brat
18:48 *Suraj,* take a look at *Zachary Quinto's* IMDb filmography. Your perception of his ability to find work seems skewed. His ability to work does not appear to be impacted negatively. He worked quite consistently, year after year without a lull.
🤷🏼♂️
Tyler has so many more lyrics about women than men. It’s weird how just showing interest in men as a man makes you gay no matter how much you’ve talked about liking women. Bi isn’t even considered unless as an afterthought. So weird
Actually this episode was saying that a lot of rappers are gay, it was making fun of DL rappers like lil Wayne, bird man, Rick Ross , p diddy
Frank Ocean is absolutely the first gay rapper I can think of who came out after this episode aired. Tyler the Creator was next. Lil Wayne and Birdman were kissing each other on the lips for some reason. Jaden Smith and Young Thug started wearing dresses. Then Lil Nas X took the "gay rapper" thing to a whole nother level.
P diddy
@@pleaseshutup7053 P Diddy is not openly gay. He just has rumors
@@Aldridge517 what about Eminem
@@pleaseshutup7053 I've never heard anyone accuse Eminem of being gay. Are you pulling rapper names out of a cup?
@@Aldridge517 you’ve never seen the interview where Eminem comes out as gay?
Chris is the akshully meme irl. My man you don't have to always be right
Funny enough I am reading a book about almost the same situation called "out of position" its a gay furry book about a defense back named "Dev" who is a tiger and he and his football bros on college campus would get drunk and crush pussy all night long, then one he meets a gay fox named "Lee" who was cross dressing, then go back to dorms and have gay drunk sex. at first Dev denies but thanks to Lee he comfortable being gay but he can't come out of closet and try to get drafted in pros, Lee is huge football fan but also gay right activist but he dropping out college to become a pro football scout and try to keep up long distance relationship with Dev. Dev is down to earth guy, who big dense but lovable goof while Lee is very smart and pragmatic but also very guarded and calculated and he wants to help Dev so much he neglects his friends and LGBT college group for his career and his lover.
Its a much older book from 2009 (takes place in 2006 and ends in 2008) they also have sequels to this book (I'll have to buy them soon to see what happens next to Dev and Lee)
You literally see this with Meek Mill, I know he didn’t come out but everyone turned on him as soon as they heard the allegations. Not to mention the whole “No Diddy” thing now
Tyler the Creator is openly bisexual.
10:27 That's Riley's side😂😂
Getting Close To Season 3 Guy's
Rock n Roll Gangsta!
Is this Last episode season 2 of the boondocks?
No 2 more banned episodes
Then the next season 🔥
12:35 😂😂😂😂 he’s a savage
Did Rana finally tap out? She doesn't seem to enjoy the show and rarely, if at all, provides post-view commentary.
She probably isn't built for this kinda humor, honestly. A lot of people don't
Probably. She would be cringing the most this episode with all the gay jokes and f-slurs.
Lil Nas X was accepted into he leaned into the weird shit. No one cared that much he was gay until that became his ENTIRE image.
🍅 and 🦃 sandwiches 🥪 are fire
love Candace and i love this episode. Imagine that but I'm not chasing pink toes claiming to be down..
A couple things:
It's always been easier for women to come out in the industry. Queen Latifah's sexuality was well known way back in the early 90s and nobody really gave a damn.
On the lil Nas X point, I gotta say, I think a lot more people dislike him for reasons other than him being gay... A lot of controversy surrounding the guy.
As a person who listens to all lil Nas X Music. He can rap…but he’s not a rapper.
Why do they keep thinking Gangstalisous is 50 Cent?
Because he is HEAVILY based on 50 Cent lol. He's always talking about getting rich or doing X, or he will "die trying", he has the 50 Cent lisp, dresses like him, I mean bro its obvious as fuck lol. Whether or not 50 is actually gay, its undeniable that Gangstalicious is heavily based on 50 Cent circa mid 2000's
I think it's jarule or the game since they frequent diddy parties
Are y'all old enough to remember Cam'ron? Yup.
"That's real Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun" 😂
Edit: as a member of the LGBT Community, I can honestly say that the term "Homo by Association" pisses me off to no end. It's offensive to it's highest degree. Just because you like someone's art and music and that person is gay, it DOES NOT MAKE YOU GAY!.
P Diddy in The Boondocks
Saucy Santana 1 margarita remix 🔥
where the rest of the crew?
Whitney Peyton is an openly gay rapper she just isn’t really known at all
Growing up, my hip-hop playlists were mostly made up of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and yeah, Will Smith.
Not every successful rapper had to lean into the gangster persona.
Kevin Abstract is a pretty good rapper who is gay.
Every time I hear this song I think about the red pill community
Tyler the Creator has subtly come out as basically bi, he’s talked about kissing guys & being with guys sexually in his most recent music.
I ain’t even gone cap Navi can have my babies
Based off Camron
Young ma
He’s of the gay 😂😂😂😂💀💀
I wouldn’t be surprised if gangstalicius was based off lil Wayne especially since he dated super head and kissed birdman on the lips on live tv😭😭😭😭😭

It’s not abt 50 cent

Lil Nas C is a pop guy who raps, like Drake. Nothing wrong with that, he's cool. Dont think he's a papper though
Hip hop artist vs rapper.
Lil Nas is a pop rapper not a hip hop artist.

Lil Nas X ain't hip-hop
As an aside, heavy sagging pants *were* initially a gay fashion, specifically a way for guys to "advertise" they were available in prison.
Depends who you talk to tbh, I’ve heard various versions of it’s origination
@@TribalCheif-ku4vn At least, in black culture, it seems to originate from jail behavior as a sign of availability. 100%.
