Saying "Sorry" and listening to the community goes a long way these days. I forgave Bitwig, and I'll forgive them and give it another chance all things considered. Thanks for the down to earth video Dash.
Especially cause it's not just one person who is responsible. It could totally be that there's some people over there who are less easy to forgive, but we wouldn't wanna let them ruin it for all the people who did amazing work here.
Considering they literally called the product "See You Rent", I'm quite pleased with how quickly they responded to community feedback. Looks like a fun and capable synth. Will be checking it out myself soon.
Great vid, don't worry about the whole subscription debacle. Everyone is learning how to make money is the ever changing digital world. I think most people who have watched lots of your stuff will know who you are and what you're about. Synth sounds great, I am excited to get into it.
Great synth. Went out and grabbed it after seeing Weaver’s news show detailing the pricing change a couple weeks back, and already using it in my new track
I have zero problems with them as a company. They went back on tbr mistake they made almost immediately and didn't try to defend it and dig deeper. They are a smaller company that really do make some unique plugins that are obviously made by people who like to make music.
I think you've convinced me that I want this...thanks a lot, lol. One small thing though regarding the payment plans that I think might be worth addressing is, you said that the Yearly payment plan costs $10/month (that's how I understood it anyways) which, while true in the technical sense, is billed once yearly (i.e. $120 a pop). This may seem like a small thing but I know what it's like to be able to effort a few bucks more each month whereas paying the yearly fee (while lower in price per month) upfront would have meant waiting several to many months before I'd have the larger sum saved up. This may seem trivial but for people with impulse control issues, this can really be a roller coaster. Thanks for the great vid though, I really like the way this thing sounds. 👍
I doubt people have got you down as being on the grift. You come across too nice for that. We know everything everywhere is so cut throat especially in the muso Bizz. I bought Current last weekend.. its Very Cool! but feels a bit like a beta. 2023 synth without undo/redo? No mod matrix, You cant bypass a modulation, No remap etc. When u try to overwrite a preset its open a different window that doesn't pop in focus( I thought the software freeze and I lost my preset), there is no rename for presets... i guess Minimal audio still have some basic work to do.. 200$ price tag, I expect a premium quality all the way. Thanks for the awesome video as always dash!
Yea I agree with most of those points yea, I believe we are expecting a decent update soon which should deal with some of the issues I raised which you also mentioned here :) so let's see
Something that i started to consider today it the inability to do stereo modulation of the lfos in current. However the things that i would normally attatch stereo modulation to in vital are the filters, delay, chorus phaser and reverb. Which have spred. Which you can modulate as well. And even with the pitch envelope on the sub osc being able to be recreated with an envelope in vital, having that set up already without deticating an osc that you could use for fm is incredible for work flow. What are you opinions on stereo modulation do the things with spread scratch your itch?
Great video and somehow I like Minimal audio for their usability…but, 200€ for the power it delivers…na…falcon 3 also 199€ phaseplant 99€ (both on sale)
Trying to decide between falcon 3 and current at the moment.. Though falcon 3 seems like a monster I've also heard it takes more time to make good patches, so I'm leaning towards current. Really like the sound of the filters in the video..
@@mattiasboden2329 and you already had a look on dash’s‘ beloved Phaseplant? It has the most powerful, yet flexible interface in a plug-in. And yes you may need further add-ins but what is already free of charge - is unbelievable…but, there are sales and some second hand dealers…also the upcoming Synthmaster 3 - don‘t know if they still offer the Synthmaster everything bundle (get every of their official soundpacks and SM 1&2 - and 3 when it will be released)
Love how that formant filtered saw synth sounded at the end. I've always wanted an envelope that recognizes when the note is supposed to reach 0 and pre-empt it with the release, I wish every one of them had some kind of toggle like that, applicable to almost any modulation. Can do it manually, especially with bpm synced envelopes it's not too big a deal, but that extra flexibility without modulations/copies of the synths for different note lengths is huge for creative flow. Quick related tip: All my places where presets go have one called ''.Temporary'', I always overwrite over this one when quickly copy/pasting, and it always appears in the same spot. Does anyone know of any ways to copy automation data to different automations? Let's say you easily want to have two filters run in parallel, preferably individually tweakable, but a truly linked mode would be convenient too. I use FL, but I'd be interested if other DAWS have options for this too. I'm pretty sure there's plugins that will let you link several things to the same automation source, but I'd like to be able to add parallel automation to something I didn't initially plan to do that to. If I could just copy automation data over to such a controller that affects multiple things, that'd work and give me both copy/paste and linking/merging capabilities.
@@DashGlitch Ty! I'm aware of those (And should use them more...), but the main issue is I usually start off without one. I automate one thing and realize I want something else in parallel later. Weird thing about FL, I open the channel settings/automation editor window, and the save preset option there is gray. I'd copy/paste that over to a controller, but it seems I have to do it manually for no particular reason, we can save midi data etc. just fine Edit: I'm looking into it now, it seems I've got it, mostly. I can simply use the link to controller window to link to an existing clip! I don't get options as advanced as I'd like them this way, but there's options like default, inverted, log scale and steppy, just no custom formula/range over which it's active. I'd love being able to squish it into a range or simply cut off the movement at the extremes One strange issue seems to be that I gotta make sure to pick everything I wanna assign before making copies of the automation clip, since anything added after will only respond to one of the automation clips, appearing seperately in the list... Strange. Well, I click the automation clip in question and can add to a list of target link! Strange issue, but it's solved. Except, it seems it won't take the formula into account on the automation clip it is now assigned to, even though it says it should. Another discovery: State files... I guess they just don't consider it a preset, but it's there. Well, I can save the automation data that ''broke'' cause I added a link after I copied the clip, now I save that data and create a copy of the original that works after I've linked something, simply paste automation data onto that. Not the best, but it works and still saves time overal

🔥🔥Is the perpetual license for current a one time fee with no renewal involved? Just asking for clarification before I make the purchase, thanks in advance🙏🏻
I'd say it's more of a Factory soundset that comes with the perpetual, there are some good sounds and it's nice if you make a lot of your own sounds, but if you're into loads of presets/banks etc, I'd think about the stream/sub plan
I am constantly battling with the question: do i really need another synth? So the question is, what can Current do that other synths can't? And I'm not talking about cool features or whatever, just fundamental functions. Isnt this just another synth?
Their fully functional effects that you would already be accustomed too since most are stand alone. With the presets for all of them. Something like Morph EQ is a bigger beast with access to the modulation capabilities. Being able to, right within the plugin, browse more presets and sounds is convenient. Since the interface is basically a combination of Serum and Pigments, in my opinion, the workflow is much more efficient in comparison. I'd worry less about how this compares to other synths, sure, it's another synth, but try it, does it feel more intuitive and enable a better workflow for you to be more creative? Then that in itself it's a win compared to other synths.
