***SUMMARY(2)***
1. Dont draw/sketch before painting. Use transfer/carbon paper. (test out what method works best)
2. Sketching = possible mistakes. Erasing damages material and causes a mess. Light sketching is recommended if possible and when needed.
3. Fabric paint on dark materials = find paint that has a good coverage and is has strong opacity. Research before buying and take note of what material you are painting on.
E.g. Denim = strong coverage paint
4. Base layer/prime
Light clothes = not necessarily needed as the colors will show
Dark clothes = white base layer to avoid layering paint.
5. Adding to above, thin base layers, does not need to be fully white.
Paint cannot connect with fibers with a thick base, will wash off.
6. Don't mix different brands of fabric paint.
7. Max layers when painting = 5
Let each layer dry before adding a new layer.
8. Wait + 24 hours for paint to dry before heat setting with iron.
Iron = medium heat and move around to avoid baking.
No iron = hair dryer to heat set
9. Research designs and placements for inspiration.

Thank you ❤🤩
Aunt I get really inspired by seeing ur artworks u r a great artist 👌but sadely u r underrated 😟
Your very good teacher❤❤❤ Another technique i did this when i was in college try to buy a tracing paper try to draw there then at the back of the paper shading it with 7b pencil or Bold pencil. Then you put it on the shirt then trace it. Nice content i love it 🥰
Thank you so much. You inspired me to paint on a hat after seeing your video of all the things you have painted. I have painted mock croc shoes. Unlike clothes, obviously I can't iron the paint, so do they need heat applied too like one does with clothing? (like a hairdryer)? And would you seal them with something like a clear varnish to prevent from cracking where shoes crease?
One year ago I began to paint on jacket and I had a lot of problems. Thank you so much for your videos. First I'm gonna try to use pebeo paint!❤
What paint did you use the first time? I.e. which paint caused you problems the first time around?

I have one doubt, I finished painting my first denim jacket and I iron it. But the paintings seem to be sticky. For example, when I sit in a chair, I notice that the design on my back sticks to the chair, and when I get up, I feel that it detaches with too much force and loses colors, which remain stuck to the chair. What can I do?
10:29 I wish I knew it before... I made nice samurai Jack t shirt but didn't knew about the layers and it came out too dark. Thanks for advice
Ty for these videos
You are fantastic ❤
thank you very much miss thank you
I love your videos. Would you please talk about your point of view and experience about paint medium which can turn normal acrylics into fabric paint?
I don't use fabric mediums as I prefer to use fabric paints. But I know that brand Liquitex produces good quality textile medium
Thank you for the video! It was so helpful. I have a question: Can you also use a steam iron/steam press to heat set the paint?
Thanks very useful
Hi, I just purchased a black adidas jacket with the white stripes. I would like to paint those stripes black. What would be the best paint to use? The jacket is made of Polyester&Nylon . Thanks
Hi! Your video helped me a lot and I thank you for that. I drew a painting on a t-shirt. I wanted to ask you if you could help me with a problem: after letting the paint dry thoroughly (24 hours and more), I ironed it, but the white spots turned pink, where am I wrong? I use Pebeo colors.
hi! i wanted to ask..i just painted on a shirt with fabric paint and i didnt have a place to let it dry safely for a few days so i just blow dried it with a hairdryer... did i make a mistake? will the paint crack or can i go on and iron it as usual? thank you in advance!! :)
While using a hair dryer, do you dry from the face or from the back?
Some videos give tip to add textil softener (which you use when washing clothes) to the paint. They say the fabric doesn't get hard after painting. What do you think? Have you tried it? Thanks😊
Thank you so much for all the tips and tutorials!
Do you have any tips on how to prevent the paint from fading on the first wash. I use java fabric paint. Is it possible that adding water to the paint while painting is the reason why it fades? And is it okay to mix paint for dark and for bright fabric of the same brand?
No water doesn't effect paint. And it's ok to mix paints of the same brand. Regarding fading - normally paints shouldn't fade so make sure that you fixing paints for 5 minutes and waiting before washing for at least 24 hours after you fixed paints with iron. If you making everything right may be consider to change brand of fabric paints
@@Dariacreative Thank you for the answer! I always just waited about 6 hours after ironing so this is probably what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much for the tips!
@@Dariacreative Hi new here Please clarify how to fix paint. Do you let the paint dry first? If you use a heat press at what temp and how long? If you use an iron at what temp?
I have a question. I forgot to wash my shirt and painted it with fabric paint and medium.... Will the color wear off when I wash the shirt?
There are fabric chalk pencils for fine lines or you can use tailor chalk or pencils which will wash off 😀Why bothering with a pencil for paper?
Hello. How do you paint pure linen?
Daria, can puffer jackets really be painted with fabric paint? I thought fabric paint can't be used on synthetic materials ☹️
Yes I have a video on my channel where I customized puffer jacket :) Not all fabric paints will work. But Pebeo for example works just great on such fabrics
I’m semi confused, hoping you can clarify. I am wanting to paint lighter denim, can I get away with using the light fabric paint or did I need the opaque? Thank you!
I recommend to use opaque colors for painting denim as it is a rough fabric which requires a good coverage paint. Light fabrics paints are great for painting on white or light thin t-shirts , blouses as such paints don't make fabric stiff .
Can we use fabric paints for block printing?
Make a video on silk painting do's and don't
Yes sure you can
Hi 👋 I want to paint thin lines on a white cotton T shirt: do you recommend a particular paintbrush/paint pen to use that’s easy to control and will go on the fabric smoothly? Thank you!
Thin round brush for acrylics (synthetic)will work the best
Thank you
Hello! I just recently came across your channel and had a question if you have the time of day to answer it. I recently purchased a denim jacket that was painted with (I’m assuming) acrylic paint. I can already see some areas slightly cracking and a friend advised me to purchase a Sulky Stitch n’ Seal Waterproof Iron-On Permanent Stabilizer to protect it. It’s a bit on the pricey side when I only need one sheet and was wondering if I should just heat-set it with a cloth instead? I’m afraid it will crack more when I eventually have to wash it. Thank you so much and I totally understand if you don’t have time to answer this! Love your videos and how detailed they are!!
Hi! I am not sure this stabilizer will help you to save artwork frok cracks. And if acrylics were used most likely paints will not get off after washing but more cracks may appear, as acrylics are not flexible enough.
@@Dariacreative Thank you so much!! I suppose the only way to go about it now is to just carefully handwash and air dry it to avoid as much cracking as possible…
@@onedaylover100 yes exactly. Handwash it
@@Dariacreative Thank you so much!! You saved me some money 😭🙏🏻
Have you used golden GAC 900 mixed with acrylic paint? Is it as good as fabric paint? Love your channel!
I haven't but I know clothes customizers who use . Not sure about is it as good as fabric paint but definitely very close
@@Dariacreative thank you so much!
BUT IT DO NOT WORK ON BLACK HOODIE AND I USE WHITE PEN . WHAT SHOULD I USE PLEASE TELL ME 😀🇮🇳
Can we steam iron it
great tips! I've heard a final layer of lacquer should be added to protect the painting, could anybody confirm this please
no I varnish only leather. Fabric doesn't need varnish just set paints with iron
@@Dariacreative thank you!
yes you can use oven
How should i wash paint denim jacket? Hand wash? Machine? Whats your tips, please?
Washing machine 40 degree Celsius. Delicate cycle reccomended if you want to keep jacket in a perfect condition as long as possible
Just to clarify did you say that you should iron thin clothes from the other side?
Yes on the reverse side
Doesn't carbon paper ink spreads by washing the jacket and once I did heat set to my final art the ink started to spread on paint . Why does this happen and you still recommend this ?
No it doesn't. Me and many customizers I know, use carbon paper and actually I am very surprised to hear that it's "ink" can cause any trouble. Because when I use carbon paper I get barely visible lines which look like pencil lines and don't have any inky texture. And painting I completely covering that lines and totally forget about their existence 🤷♀️ Maybe paper you use is some other kind of paper I don't know
@@Dariacreative ya I used kores brand carbon sheet and when I heat set it did spread onto the art , but I shall use a different maybe better one and a white colour sheet... I had taken a blue one .
Thankyou, really appreciate .
I am learning a lot from your channel 🤍👍
Can I paint polyester fabric with fabric paints?
Yes but search for fabric paints which you can use on synthetic fabrics
Can I just iron instead of acrylic medium??
No If there is no medium there is nothing to fix with an iron.
Really.. Imp and needed vedio but.. Ur english language is really difficult to understand..
