What Lotus models are still here in 2021? And are there any newcomers? Time to watch our new video and find out: th-cam.com/video/dnBi4C_oI20/w-d-xo.html
It's supposed to be going over there next time they update it, which is in the next few years afaik. Along with the new Elise. They have to add more safety stuff for the US though, so it will be heavier.
I'd love to see an Esprit model again. Still love the look. Not bashing the current line up one bit. While the on paper numbers don't get that many people excited once you have been in one the entire formula makes amazing sense.
They have yet to produce an 'affordable' EXOTIC replacement for the Esprit. The Evora is not exotic enough by comparison. If you want top dollar, Lotus, take the Evija stylist team and have them re-introduce the Esprit. The Evora looks like an updated mid-1990s Toyota MR2. See for example en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2#/media/File:Toyota_MR2_W20_002.JPG Just looks like they 'bulged out' and restyled the old MR2. And oh by the way the Evora has a Toyota engine. The Esprit V8 had an ENGLAND motor. The Esprit V8 had twin turbo, flat plane crank, and capable of 550hp (it was detuned so as not to destroy the Renault-sourced gearbox). That engine was way ahead of its time - the 2020 mid-engine Corvette still does not have a flat-plane crankshaft. Put an updated Esprit V8 in the Evora platform and re-do the freaking body. The Evora does not look exotic enough. It looks like Toyota produced it. . . .
True words. I own an 02 Anniversary Esprit and an 11 evora .. both heavily modified. And although the evora is a better driving car, its presence and curb appeal fall short of the Esprit
Geely wants new models and their own powertrain. Do not be surprised if they are not looking into reviving the Elan and Esprit names with Merc helping with engines. Buying Aston Martin would satisfy their interest in an SUV without having to develop one by modifying the DBX for Lotus.
Hey, all I said was that it is Chinese automaking giant. But check out their Wikipedia page, it says they are a privately held company, headquartered in Hangzhou.
I would really appreciate that you put the SI metric on the screen because yeah having most of the world don't use imperial and havinf to switch tabs to convert is not a great watching experience
Ok, I always try to fit metric values, but sometimes they get squeezed out by other specifications. I'll make sure to double check specs in the future.
The EVIJA name is just ALIVE backwards (specially using the font they picked). It's not another language. Also, Lotus made a very limited run of an electric Elise in the 90s, so the EVIJA is not their first electric vehicle.
Hi, thanks for the info about the electric Lotus. As to the name, according to Lotus's press release, it was inspired by Hebrew. But it does look like Alive backwards. Cool observation.
The Evora GT won’t do well in the US... Not at a starting price of $97k and with the 2020 C8 coming out in a few months. The C8 starts at $59k and has specs that blow the Evora GT out of the water in almost, if not all ways.
No sports cars will 'do well' in the USA...They're about to enter a cataclysmic recession. Lotus should make a Sport SUV, engineer Active-Ride suspensions (for other companies) and bring back 1000kg small sports cars with No Aero wings that cost much less. (with lighter engines that are not V6's. oh, and make cars that tall people can still adjust a reasonable seating position.

Those colors are amazing. Why anybody would want a car like this in black or white is beyond me.
I will admit I like the clean clinical look of white cars, but I prefer annoying colours.
It is because of the driving and personal favor; not for showboating.
