Hey!! I'm gonna start nursing school in a few months. I just wanted to ask--how do you end up with a specialty? Like, let's say I want to work in pediatrics. I'm getting my BSN. Then I have to take the nclex. After that, what do I do ?
+Jessica L. Hi Jessica! Great question! After graduating from nursing school and passing boards, your first job will determine your initial specialty/competency. Once you work for usually a year - you are considered competent in that specialty and therefore can say you are a "Pediatric" "Med Surg" or "ICU" nurse. I hope this helps!! xoxo - Caroline
Again, thank you thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to us.. It was very helpful to me to understand diseases... I am looking forward for more content videos.. I do appreciate this! God Bless you always....
I recently read this comment that nurses only do crap work and doctors are the only real ones that save lives. I want to be a nurse but hearing things like this just take a huge shot at your confidence. Do u have any tips to boost your confidence and any tips on how to ignore people that say things like this? I think nurses are one of the most hard working people and out of the doctor and the nurse the nurse is the one with the most patient contact but yet the doctor saves the life. I love nursing and want to be a NICU nurse but if this is the kind of talk and attitude nurses put up with I'm sorry I'll just have to find another profession. I salute nurses that have to put up with this stuff on a daily and still hold their heads high. How do they do it? Any tips?
