Hey Mark take a digital photo with your IPhone and I don’t see WHY a local print shop wouldn’t make a duplicate!!!! They’ll even put it on a weatherproof laminate decal that resembles the original one….. I’ve had them made for my 1987 Porsche 944 and they’re SPOT ON…👍👍👍
Everything is looking good and coming together. Love that you are able to do a thorough restoration and cutting no corners! Enjoying this project, keep it up.
Great to see young men doing this kind of work and taking the extra steps to do it right! Love watching your channel it’s nothing but hard work something you are obviously not afraid of. Thanks for sharing
Mark take your time on this car. You’re doing a great job. Painting the door jams is a great idea for paint match. I’ll see if I can locate some of those stickers. ❤

Take good high quality pictures of your jam stickers & their measurements, a good sticker/decal shop can reproduce those for you. You might even be able to do those yourself if you're good with a Cricket decal maker or know someone who does it.
If you know a good graphic artist it can be recreated. I think those stickers have a security feature like a tag decal though? A vinyl printer could be the answer. I'm sure the shop has a vinyl wrap company that fixes company vans? Just my thoughts. Cheers.
Why didn't you build a poly tent with dust extraction to sand all the paint off , would keep the shop a lot cleaner ? ( what ever , you got it done nice job,
Mark, the rusty spots on the sunroof have a blue discoloration. This means that it is oxidized steel. This will certainly rust further in the future. Seriously consider the carbon fiber roof. The discoloration is visable in the video.
Question. When you call it a 20k paint job. I assume you mean if someone were to hire a shop to do the work but can you tell me how much of the cost would be materials vs labor? I assume labor is the bulk but does using higher level paint products add a lot to the bottom line price? Thanks
Yes, high quality clear is around 1k for a setup and almost the same for high quality paint. Not to mention bondo and high quality primer. Materials for this car would be around 3-4k and labor is even more extensive as you can see 😂😅 at a labor rate of 80 an hour so it comes out around 20k
Just had one question Mark, you guys went to all the trouble to paint the 1967 Ford Mustang to such a high standard, why is it sitting in the workshop uncovered when you’ve got all that paint dust flying around?
Bro. -You should've taken the glass off and done the jams.- Glad he "messed up" bc you'll be happy you redid them. I would've just taped off the stickers with the specs. What I wouldn't have left..? The inside of the truck, the underside of the hood and inside of the doors as you're going to see seems. Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't take the engine out of it. But, I get it, you have to draw the line somewhere ... unless you were always going to take it out to do some work later anyway. ?
Curious why body shops always blow the sanding dust in the air instead of vacuuming. Does anyone make an industrial air filter to take a majority of the dust out of the air. Hate to see young guys end up with COPD
no professional will use paint stripper, it can get into the metal and react with new paint i was used to painting ex military aircraft out side, it was horrible, you had to use a blow torch on body work to rid the damp in the metal before applying any paint, you think its dry, wave a torch over it very briefly and you soon see the condensation come up and dry in the heat - you get the same with most primers, need to rid moisture before top coat - i used a zinc based primer, and rust would still creep through, so now i use zinc, another primer then top coat very surprised Marky your not using discs with holes so you can suck the dust into a vacuum - i was using one a few years back and it made such a difference - find a local design studio to replicate the stickers, i used to do it with military aircraft, actually was my thing doing the graphics, get them to draw it up, and print to a clear vinyl, then you can stick this onto some real good cheap heat/plumbing self adhesive foil, cut out, and job done
you tube will not let me give you the info for the company that makes legal sets of stickers for any vehicle...you will have to contact vehcor for the companies name he uses
lol it is. Go to any reputable and get quoted on a bare metal restoration. They price can go up exponentially higher than 20 even, you won’t get this done for less than 15 and even 15 is questionable work at best
I had a $1,500 paint job and trust me the quality of workmanship is mediocre. All they do is just scuff the paint, bondo the dings and use single stage paint. This is a ton of work!!!
Car going to look good since doing all that like u did on the mustang of your boss's figure u would have covered it up to keep all that red dust from getting all over it
Bet after u buff it it really bring out the flake and if someone runs the hands over it will it starch it will your have any flake or just doing single stage paint
Sad part is, just going off of your history, after all of that crazy time, effort, and money you are spending on your car, it will be wrecked by a month after you finish the restoration. Just saying.

Only 8:42 min in but not painting the jams makes zero sense. Come on man put in the extra effort to make it match perfect. No need to go bare metal on the jams, but scuff them up and paint it in 1 go (don't see the point in going bare metal on the rest of the car either btw, but ok)

I'm glad you're painting the jams. And I'm sure you'll find a vendor for the stickers. Keep us updated.

On the VIN sticker...check with BMW Mobile Tradition. They're the ones to go to for classic BMW stuff. Not all dealers know about Mobile Tradition
Should take the glass and the sunroof out, or you will have the same chipping problem and lack of preservation you mentioned at the beginning.
Good job Victor.
