Same. Just finished the first game for the first time this week, and pretty much every enemy type that weren't humanoid weren't that funto me. Absolutely loved every lightsaber battle though, and loved force pulling the stormtroopers. Can't wait to use their weapons against the other enemies
So if Cal is going to be in full survival mode and doing anything he can to protect his friends and himself, not only would i not be surprised if he uses some dark side abilities, but what if Merrin taught him some dark magic? Im hoping we get to use it at some point because it's so unique and just straight up cool. Either way, the I'm already happy with how much they've added to the gameplay

I think it’s gonna work like this: You can only switch between single-blade and the alternate style. (Dual wield, double blades and crossguards) The alternate style can be changed at a workbench by splitting or welding together the double bladed lightsaber, or by dismantling the second blade and using the materials to build a crossguard
@@sentientmustache8360 an article came out today confirming there’s 5 total stances in the game: Single Blade, Double Bladed, Split Saber, Crossgaurd, and Single+Blaster. I feel like we’ll be able to switch between all of them whenever we want, because each stance is supposed to be better/worse depending on the enemy. Similar to Ghosts of Tsushima is how I interpreted it.

At 12:22 when we see Pale Tank Guy in the new attire, those are high republic jedi robes, indicating when he's from (before 200 BBY) and that he is, in fact, a jedi. Or at least was one.

Cross guard hilts are actually vents to control exert energy from a damaged kyber crystal in the cases I know of, this would support the idea of this lightsaber being stolen
at 15:55 the combat very much reminds me of a long sword type style of combat not to mention the look of the saber gaining the cross guard making it look like a long sword, i think the trade off will be #1 no double sided saber (although in lore there has been double sided cross guard sabers) and #2 Slower attack speed but we will gain strong/staggering hits instead
I just replayed JFO since getting the platinum when it came out and I really hope they lean more into the souls type complex open environments for survivor. Dathomir is really the only planet that has that feeling of tension combined with exploration that the souls series is known for. It feels to me like JFO was like a proof of concept for respawn to prove that they could make this type of game. And despite being probably my favorite star wars game of all time it feels quite shallow when you replay it, but they have the opportunity to make a true masterpiece with the sequel.
5:43, pulling enemies towards you - interesting to me that Cal appears to drop the enemy and then need to attack it. That suggests you could repeat this ability to quickly move enemies around the map, perhaps to places they can't otherwise access, for speedrun tricks. Eg imagine the extra places you could have Target Lock Jumped in #1 if you had this.
4:13 if you look closely at the other lightsaber it has some extra stuff on the hilt that Tapal’s hilt doesn’t have… like it’s very similar but it has a bit that kinda reminds me of Taron Malicos’ lightsaber. So maybe they’re not the same just similar ?
im absolutely loving the look of the crossguard sabre. it looks like it could even be a form of light club?? i do longsword in real life, and usually choose the heavier slower weapons in games, so if the two handed crossguard works as i expect then i think i know what im gonna use for the whole game xD
I loved that Jedi Fallen Order was a more classic linear experience. Going open world like so much of the singleplayer story driven games gets a sigh out of me. Lets hope that the game will be more like a wide corridor with focus on story.

Imho there's no way a AAA game like Jedi Survivor won't have a demo showcase before release. Yes, it will be in the middle of nowhere, as there are no major gaming events until the launch date, but they will absolutely show more gameplay to hype it up and reveal new features.
To be honest, that's exactly what I thought, but then God of War Ragnarok launched without any deep dive gameplay demonstrations at all. It's not really fair to compare the two, but I think when we're dealing with AAA sequels it might not be something we should necessarily expect from now on.

i liked the detail on the crossguard that make it feel more practical to use the top halth not bein covered and the dow one being covered for protection if someone just slides it dawn.
There's actually 5 stances in the game and the 5th one is a blaster+lightsaber combo. It stated in an article that Cal will use both his blaster and a lightsaber at different times in a combo.

I checked the Aurebesh on the left side of Dendras. It was just some random gibberish. I tried deciphering it for a contest EA put out(found the answer btw)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my wild card theory is that the canyon planet/archive room we see Cere in is actually on none other than Batuu, the planet that houses Black Spire Outpost of Disney's Galaxy's Edge park. the stone looks similar to the facades used for the park, as well as concept art for the planet itself. And in the VR Title "Tales from the Galaxy's Edge: Last Call", you wind up actually finding a Jedi Archive while working for Dok Ondar, and can scan a few of the books in the archive to send to R2-D2, who is implied to then send them to Rey. So the landscape mostly lines up, and a Jedi archive DOES exist on the planet. It's always possible. It'd be cool to see Batuu during the Reign of the Empire, as you only see it with a First Order coat of paint everywhere else.

With the seeming focus on the Separatists and the previous bit with the bacta character talking about betrayal I have a supposition: During the Clone Wars Palpatine engineered the capture of a Jedi by the Separatists, so they could better understand how to fight Jedi ( the more Jedi killed in the war the better from Palpatine's perspective) the missing arm comes from combat testing, and he blames the Jedi for his capture and subsequent torture hence the "betrayed by those I trusted the most" line. And we find him in the bacta tank because he was healed up in between testing sessions and the war ended unexpectedly so his captors cut and ran to avoid the new Empire's cleanup leaving him in the tank as they flee.
If the blaster is part of a combat style, that would be pretty cool. So in addition to single, double, crossguard and dual lightsabers, you could use single saber+blaster as a style.
I've seen some theories that the library Cere has is located on Bogano, in Eno Cordova's old abode. I personally dont believe it, though, because the Empire most likely knows about Bogano unless Trilla both did not report Bogano and also instructed her troopers not to report it either.
I hope it won't be another open world game. I really enjoyed how Fallen Order was by moving to next areas while progressing the story while being able to go back to revisit them later on. Most open world games have been very lackluster and story/narrative was even more disappointing. Hope they've just been further improving and evolving the mechanics Fallen Order had.
My last hope is just a bit more polish on the animation side of things. I’ve known Respawn to be top tier when it comes to animation and how that affects gameplay flow, and while I’m sure this is basically a completely different team entirely from the teams that worked on Apex and Titanfall, they clearly have some overlap (wallrunning). In the first game the two things that stood out were the dodging animations, and the “on rails” sections. Each individual part looked fine, but the transitions between each were usually too fast, it almost looked like Cal would return to a default state after dodging or falling off of a wall or slide and then start the next animation. Combat and climbing were fine, but since they had those fundamentals down pat already, here’s hoping that that’s the area they focused on improving alongside more combat. Other than that, this game is shaping up to be great! Finally get to use that cross guard stance in a game!
I really hope these lightsabers have status customization. Because then there is a sense in getting the chests to get a stronger component than what we would have.
If I had to guess that canyon planet might be the equivalent of Zefo for this game, maybe with a huge expanding main zone and then branching paths from there
As far as Cal’s blaster is concerned... I’m getting a lot of Ghost of Tsushima vibes from this. Presumably, we’d use the d-pad to switch lightsaber styles like we did in the first game, and it would sorta mirror Tsushima’s “stances.” If the pattern holds, we could see his blaster as something analogous to the bow in Ghost. A ranged attack with a few ammunition-dependent skills attached to it. Though considering that blasters can fire hundreds of times before reloading in lore, it’d have to do much less damage than a lightsaber for balance purposes. Which is also supported by lore, come to think of it. Also, given the “survivor” title, I wonder if there’s going to be a stealth element? On one hand, I like doing the sneaky sneak, and I dislike being railroaded into combat, but on the other hand it gets closer to “the Ubisoft game” (for there is only one of them now) than “the from software game” (which is where fallen order took its inspiration). I’m gonna be honest, I’m kinda tired of the Ubisoft game.
The "Dark Trooper" droid is actually a droid from Star Wars Rebels. It's got a technical name that I'm forgetting off hand but it's technically not a Dark Trooper phase per say just inspired by the Dark Trooper from legends at least that's what the creators of Rebels said at the time. It could be retroactively turned into a phase of Dark Trooper though now that a more direct reference to them was made in Mando. Also this isn't the first time a Brown Wampa has appeared in a Star Wars game. Shadows of the Empire has one on the Gall Spaceport level. My brother calls it the Chocolate Wampa. 😂
My main concerns are: A: Do I REALLY have to have the silly crossguard hilt? I prefer to use the styles of my choice, along with the look of my saber. B: I hope Merrin and Geez are in the game. C: I hope there are neutral locations like Cantinas and areas where you have to do some RPG aspects to advance rather than non-stop platforming inbetween fights. D: I hope the item drops and such are more than just visual and aesthetic stuff like outfits and saber hilts. Like more upgrades and such. E: I hope the story builds up to the original trilogy. Maybe even having enemies like Mandalorians, Yuuzhan Vong, or even a young Boba Fett. Maybe story characters like Grand Moff Tarkin.
There’s a little bit of a bunch of stuff. Super Metroid, Witcher 3, Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, and Knights of the Old Republic.
Doesn't really make sense for him to lose the other half of tapols lightsaber in this game. Mainly because he already replaced one half with ceres lightsaber in fallen order
The guy in the bacta tank may just be human. His hair is super long, so even in a bacta tank your hair will grow and it makes sense to say that his skin may have aged as well in the tank and just turned grey.
I thought that the character from the tank was a clone of Cal. It doesn’t make sense but the character model looks like him a bit. And the comics mess with clones a lot so I could buy into it
I just hope the different lightsabre styles are all optional and customizable. I exclusively used single blade throughout Fallen Order and was always bothered with the hilt being a multisabre.
The saber forms are most likely discovered through the story with some having the option of being found earlier on, similar to how you get the double bladed saber on Kashyyyk at the latest but can optionally find it on Bogano or Dathomir prior to that.
Something that was really bad in the first game was walking and manouver animations, it didn't matter gameplay wise but it looks a lot better in this trailer and I'm couldn't be happier
I hope so, though it's probably going to depend on how long the early runs are and how the situation with selling my house goes. If it's an 8 hour run I just don't have time for that in the day.
Thats obviously going to be a dark vision of cal hidden behind a mask they did it with luke, starkiller, and now cal its really obvious as i could point it out the second i saw it

People thought the gameplay looked pretty generic for an action-adventure game and that the level looked super linear, and assumed it applied to the entire game if that’s the section they chose to show off.

I'm just gonna say it now because I've been thinking about this ever since we watched it and how they're going the "clone" route. I think the new Jedi games are retellings of Starkiller where Cal Kestis is basically the new Starkiller. Think about it. Starkiller in legends created the rebellion. Cal Kestis is by all means a rebel and in this trailer is quite well known throughout the empire. Cal Kestis had a force vision of becoming a inquisitor and even dawned a red lightsaber. Cal Kestis is the perfect character to inspire hope, but also the perfect character to corrupt because of how arrogant he can be, like when he fought against Vader. To me I think it's a full retelling of Starkiller.

4:15 That Other half of the lightsaber is probably a replica of Cal's Lightsaber, based off of what we saw in the Story Trailer in May.
7:51 - I suspect the lightsabers only appear different lengths because the top one is straight, while the lower one is angled.

So in addition to single, double, crossguard and dual lightsabers, you could use single saber+blaster as a style.
I've seen some theories that the library Cere has is located on Bogano, in Eno Cordova's old abode. I personally dont believe it, though, because the Empire most likely knows about Bogano unless Trilla both did not report Bogano and also instructed her troopers not to report it either.

I hope it won't be another open world game. I really enjoyed how Fallen Order was by moving to next areas while progressing the story while being able to go back to revisit them later on.
Most open world games have been very lackluster and story/narrative was even more disappointing. Hope they've just been further improving and evolving the mechanics Fallen Order had.

My last hope is just a bit more polish on the animation side of things. I’ve known Respawn to be top tier when it comes to animation and how that affects gameplay flow, and while I’m sure this is basically a completely different team entirely from the teams that worked on Apex and Titanfall, they clearly have some overlap (wallrunning). In the first game the two things that stood out were the dodging animations, and the “on rails” sections. Each individual part looked fine, but the transitions between each were usually too fast, it almost looked like Cal would return to a default state after dodging or falling off of a wall or slide and then start the next animation. Combat and climbing were fine, but since they had those fundamentals down pat already, here’s hoping that that’s the area they focused on improving alongside more combat. Other than that, this game is shaping up to be great! Finally get to use that cross guard stance in a game!

As far as Cal’s blaster is concerned... I’m getting a lot of Ghost of Tsushima vibes from this. Presumably, we’d use the d-pad to switch lightsaber styles like we did in the first game, and it would sorta mirror Tsushima’s “stances.” If the pattern holds, we could see his blaster as something analogous to the bow in Ghost. A ranged attack with a few ammunition-dependent skills attached to it. Though considering that blasters can fire hundreds of times before reloading in lore, it’d have to do much less damage than a lightsaber for balance purposes. Which is also supported by lore, come to think of it.
Also, given the “survivor” title, I wonder if there’s going to be a stealth element? On one hand, I like doing the sneaky sneak, and I dislike being railroaded into combat, but on the other hand it gets closer to “the Ubisoft game” (for there is only one of them now) than “the from software game” (which is where fallen order took its inspiration). I’m gonna be honest, I’m kinda tired of the Ubisoft game.

The "Dark Trooper" droid is actually a droid from Star Wars Rebels. It's got a technical name that I'm forgetting off hand but it's technically not a Dark Trooper phase per say just inspired by the Dark Trooper from legends at least that's what the creators of Rebels said at the time. It could be retroactively turned into a phase of Dark Trooper though now that a more direct reference to them was made in Mando. Also this isn't the first time a Brown Wampa has appeared in a Star Wars game. Shadows of the Empire has one on the Gall Spaceport level. My brother calls it the Chocolate Wampa. 😂

My main concerns are:
A: Do I REALLY have to have the silly crossguard hilt? I prefer to use the styles of my choice, along with the look of my saber.
B: I hope Merrin and Geez are in the game.
C: I hope there are neutral locations like Cantinas and areas where you have to do some RPG aspects to advance rather than non-stop platforming inbetween fights.
D: I hope the item drops and such are more than just visual and aesthetic stuff like outfits and saber hilts. Like more upgrades and such.
E: I hope the story builds up to the original trilogy. Maybe even having enemies like Mandalorians, Yuuzhan Vong, or even a young Boba Fett. Maybe story characters like Grand Moff Tarkin.

The guy in the bacta tank may just be human. His hair is super long, so even in a bacta tank your hair will grow and it makes sense to say that his skin may have aged as well in the tank and just turned grey.
They had a brown wampa in Shadows of the Empire on the 64. Yeah, not canon, but it was there.
I thought that the character from the tank was a clone of Cal. It doesn’t make sense but the character model looks like him a bit. And the comics mess with clones a lot so I could buy into it

I just hope the different lightsabre styles are all optional and customizable. I exclusively used single blade throughout Fallen Order and was always bothered with the hilt being a multisabre.
The saber forms are most likely discovered through the story with some having the option of being found earlier on, similar to how you get the double bladed saber on Kashyyyk at the latest but can optionally find it on Bogano or Dathomir prior to that.
Something that was really bad in the first game was walking and manouver animations, it didn't matter gameplay wise but it looks a lot better in this trailer and I'm couldn't be happier

People thought the gameplay looked pretty generic for an action-adventure game and that the level looked super linear, and assumed it applied to the entire game if that’s the section they chose to show off.

I'm just gonna say it now because I've been thinking about this ever since we watched it and how they're going the "clone" route. I think the new Jedi games are retellings of Starkiller where Cal Kestis is basically the new Starkiller. Think about it.
