Appreciate you guys for the shoutout! Was awesome to hear my name on the pod I’d say Climo is the Jordan comp Considered the GOAT by many, but played in a much different era. But helped get disc golf to where it is today. Kyle Klein=Devin Booker?? Young star who’s been overshadowed by recent player’s joining his team (KD & Beal) Nikko to Draymond for obvious reasons. Former champ with a track record for his attitude. The “bad boy” in the sport.
I don’t feel that Booker is being overshadowed. Certainly not by Beal one bit, but even with KD it’s still Book doing Book things. KD is usually really efficient and not as flashy so he can drop a quiet 30pts and Book still shines especially on those nights where he pops off for 40 or 50 pts.
I'm not convinced disc golf has had its Jordan yet. The pro sport is still so new and developing. If we're doing NBA comparisons, here's my thinking: I think Climo is much more Wilt. Early pioneer of the pro game who dominated his era but the game was played much differently then compared to now. McBeth is probably Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Took the mantle from Wilt (Climo) and dominated for a decade before fading slightly in his older years but was still one of the top players. Helped to bring the sport closer to the modern game. Barry Schultz might be Bill Russel, the main rival of Wilt (Climo) who still won a number of MVPs and Championships (maybe you can switch the Russel/Wilt comp if you're one of the people who think Bill Russel was the better of the two). Ricky is probably Moses Malone, played in the shadow of Kareem most of his career but still a dominant player who has collected his fair share of awards. If I had to guess, we're probably in the Magic/Bird era (maybe Calvin and Eagle if he comes back strong). The game is gaining a lot of traction and early kinks have mostly been ironed out. Currently we're on the lookout for Jordan (maybe it will be Gannon or AB?). Side note: Simon is probably Dr. J (Julius Erving); an elite player but probably remembered most for his showmanship/highlights.
I live in Fort Collins, and both my wife and I work in Wellington. Currently my bag is probably about 80% discmania. I was doing that because generally the money is being pumped back into my local community. I guess I'm free now though. I still think the Instinct is underrated as one of the greatest fairway drivers of all time, but other than that, I'm excited to branch out a little bit this year.
If you ignore the winning part of the comps both Rose and George are great comps for Eagle. Depending on how he comes back from his injury he could fit either, if he comes back at a high level he comps well to George but if he comes back and isn’t the same he comps well to Rose. If you want a comp that involves winning status for Eagle, Kawhi fits well.
The best basketball player comp for disc golf is easily Climo being Bill Russell and McBeth being Michael Jordan. Russell and Climo both won 11+ chips in an era without much competition and before the technology/sport advanced. McBeth and Jordan both won 6 chips in the eras that made their sports popular and are generally considered the goats, though the modern players seem as talented as ever to possibly compete and makes goat cases themselves over time (examples such as Bron and Curry and Gannon and Calvin).
Manufacturers are following a similar trend to what craft beer did over a decade ago with AB InBev buying out MicroBreweries but letting them keep their logos and recipes.
Lone Star might have access to higher quality plastic than any of the other manufacturers because they produce oil rig gaskets and parts. I can't think of a more critical situation. Also, their plastic lasts forever it seems, too bad they've gotten a lot of negative press
Brodies Comp would be Joel Embiid. Joel started basketball at 15 years old. Obviously Joel is a top 5 player so not perfect but fits the narrative. 50:20
Would love more podcasts about just disc golf in general and not the "pro scene". Stories about funny moments or struggles you had to overcome in your game. More stuff about mechanics or just the game in general. Would love to hear stories about how you broke 200ft 300ft. First eagle. Was rounding a lingering issue you fought? Etc.
Do you think Discmania's distribution move to Emporia will cause problems for the brand? Especially because they are yet to completely release their original molds as stock, and their professionals are still bagging Innova-manufactured discs.
Just wanted to throw out that the money coming into DG is more private equity than VC. Subtle difference but the intentions of the capital are different.
I actually like the moves HOD is making as a fan. A more corporate disc golf will produce A. Better discs. B. Better chains of distribution. C. Less money being wasted inside of disc golf by multiple less successful brands. D. More money being able to be applied towards event sponsorship/payout on the DGPT. If someone is a "grassroots" disc golfer who doesnt like this. Then they are anti-Grow The Sport.
Sounds like your a hoops head so I gotta ask. Remember Kawhi's last 3 or so years in San Antonio? If you watched on a nightly basis there was no doubt he was the best player in the league. Lebron played in the weak East and to his credit always found his way to the finals, but Kawhi was better at both ends. Won the chip in Toronto and was pretty much crowned the King by the talking heads. My point is at no point was Eagle looked at like bar none the best disc golfer in the world. I don't like the comparisson
The only reason I shop at otb rather than you guys, is because otb has the flight numbers on the scroll page. And I know a code for free shipping. Make those things happen, I’m all yours. And who knows there’s probably others like me.
Some of those NBA comparisons weren’t the best I like the concept though. The Brodie comparison was terrible. Would love to see if anyone has a better one.
Hunter - Derrick Rose never was the same after the injury, at least Eagle won a major after his Trevor - LaVine isn’t a even top 50 so the comparison works Brodie - Gelo Ball 🤣🤣🤣
Eagle to AD comp Champion but different level (bubble champ & EO) Injury prone Should’ve been more imo AB to Westbrook comp Explosive All the stats and talent with minimal success Westbrook may be a little to fiery for AB but career is similar lol Brodie Smith to Embiid Late to the game No real success in the sport but talented Highly controversial player
Great show always guys but if you dont know much about other sports dont compare them to our sport (disc golf) please,,, please dont become like stink Brodie!🐢✝️🥏
Thanks guys, I will gladly give up 12% of my win! ❤
Congrats
Nice job Benjamin!
Appreciate you guys for the shoutout! Was awesome to hear my name on the pod

@@SpencerDunnison I was thinking something very similar actually.

Support Legacy Discs. It's a small company, built by disc golfers for disc golfers. Made in USA by a small family disc golf business.
When will Trevor’s hat be available???
Manufacturers are following a similar trend to what craft beer did over a decade ago with AB InBev buying out MicroBreweries but letting them keep their logos and recipes.
Proud time to be a Charlotte 49er 💚
Lone Star might have access to higher quality plastic than any of the other manufacturers because they produce oil rig gaskets and parts. I can't think of a more critical situation. Also, their plastic lasts forever it seems, too bad they've gotten a lot of negative press

Gavin Rathbun sneak in that top 10?👀

I just tuned in but hope y’all talk about the big A tier that happened at persimmon ridge in arkansas
It's an a tier, why would they talk about it?
@@derrickdigiulio4027there 100% going to talk about it. There were a lot of pros playing this one.
Eagle is Kawhai Leonard. Got a couple big wins.
Gannon is clearly Jokic. One ring one usdgc. MVP type player
Climo = mj
Eagle = Derrick rose.
Great comp hunter!
Our local and my buddy James Owen’s took T-4
Eagle is more like Kawahi Leonard, always injured but still really good, not super flashy
Not having Tattar as your #1 is wild.
Streamline has 10 molds because...Mint Discs and TSA.
Sadly this is the only top 10 I really care about anymore....
Lone Star has 39 molds!
And they're all still trash...😅
Do you think Discmania's distribution move to Emporia will cause problems for the brand? Especially because they are yet to completely release their original molds as stock, and their professionals are still bagging Innova-manufactured discs.
This is one of the first steps in fixing the issues you mentioned
AB NBA comp is SGA
The Eagle McMahon NBA comp is Kawhi Leonard.
So House of Discs is the BlackRock of disc golf
Persimmon ridge is amazing! Should replace the Jonesboro course

Brodie is Vince Papale from Invincible.
I think eagle is better compared to kawhi leonard. Has won at the top but has an injury history
Sounds like your a hoops head so I gotta ask. Remember Kawhi's last 3 or so years in San Antonio? If you watched on a nightly basis there was no doubt he was the best player in the league. Would that make foundation MJ going to the Washington Wizards or MJ buying the Bobcats.

The Brodie comparison was terrible. Would love to see if anyone has a better one.
James Conrad is Larry Bird. Simon is Dirk. AB is Booker. Niklas is AntMan
Any current pros play for a college?
Raven Newsome, Grady Shue, Robert Burridge, James Proctor, and I’m sure there’s more
Hunter - Derrick Rose never was the same after the injury, at least Eagle won a major after his
Trevor - LaVine isn’t a even top 50 so the comparison works
Brodie - Gelo Ball 🤣🤣🤣
Eagle hasn’t come back from his current injury yet which is the injury in question
Grey walls? Same grey as the visitors I get at night? Really? 😢
😅
Snubbed Gavin Rathbun in the top 10
Gavin rathbun has been playing so well! Better than Ezra
That's a toss up. Gavin has been crushing tho
Blur Nation
How did we not compare Nikko to Kyrie???
Because that’s the stupidest comparison ever
Nikko is obv Draymond Green. Just a foot shorter and white
I'm zorny
How does a 600 rated player get sponsored?
Eagle McMahon is Kawhi Leonard minus the laugh.
AB compared to Zion is an atrocious take.
Still sleeping on Gavin Rathbun.
I think you guys heavily overestimating how much people care about companies becoming corporate
I wish u guys would talk more about weekend tournaments instead of this other bullshit
Eagle to AD comp
Champion but different level (bubble champ & EO)
Injury prone
Should’ve been more imo
AB to Westbrook comp
Explosive
All the stats and talent with minimal success
Westbrook may be a little to fiery for AB but career is similar lol
Brodie Smith to Embiid
Late to the game
No real success in the sport but talented
Highly controversial player
Luke Humphries is not a top 10 player lol
Y'all need to watch more basketball. God awful comparrisons
Great show always guys but if you dont know much about other sports dont compare them to our sport (disc golf) please,,, please dont become like stink Brodie!🐢✝️🥏
