Around this part of Yunnan, you may possibly meet other ethnic races like Lisu, Jingpo (known as Kachin in Myanmar-Burma), Dai or Tai (in Myanmar "Khamti Shan", their language is almost similar to Thai) and others. However, most of the "Khamti Shan" people live in India. That part of Burma was ceded to the British after the Burmese lost the in the 1st Anglo-Burmese War after 1826. It was kept under India control when India was under the British. It was not return to Burma when India got her independence in 1947. The famous green jade comes from Kachin State, Myanmar. Tengchong (your next destination) is about 100 km away from the China-Myanmar. You may like to visit the border area if the road is good. Please checking the local people. Thanks for showing the country from the other side of Myanmar.

Looks like a lot of fun but also dangerous at times with the narrow dirt roads you guys have to navigate.
Sometimes it is but the roads are overally good in the rural areas. It does get muddy when it rains and that's the main problem in Yunnan hehe
