Aww Lexi, sorry you had a rough semester. However, its okay. I think you being away from home was probably a culture shock to you. You seem codependent on your parents which isn't bad because you have wonderful parents, but I think because you've always had them to guide you along the way, and now having to guide yourself without them was different for you. They are the center of your strength at this point in your life. It will get better with time, but I think if you really want your degree it might be better for you to commute. Live at home, commute to school 2 days a week. When I was in college there were people that took courses Tuesday and Thursday all day so they could commute and be off for 3 days. I did it my senior year but for different reasons. I wish you the best.
College life to me is like the entry way needed to be a successful adult. Able to properly balance work and bills, etc. Not saying non college grads can't do the same thing. But college teaches you how to properly handle your business, it challenges you to stay on top of your stuff, I feel like it gives a certain amount of poise..its like the training wheels to the real world for young people. But If its not for you its not for you. And you're young. If you decided to go back later in life you can. Just leave on good standing and close out the semester the right way so when you're ready if you ever go back you won't have any issues.

what it seems like to me is you’re going to school for your parents/family because that’s what they feel is best for you and or bc it’s your sister and parent alumni but it’s ok to not waste money, most ppl who go & complete college don’t even use their degree. I’ve made more money w/o using my degrees, my advice is to do what makes you happy, ik it’s hard not wanting to do what your parents would prefer or think is best for you but make the smart decision sooner than later. dropping out from college doesn’t make you a failure, just continue to be great at what you’re doing and you’ll prosper regardless 🤍🤍

I definitely understand how you’re feeling! I’ve always been an A B student throughout school and then I got to college and I started failing classes. It wasn’t because it was hard it was because I just didn’t feel like doing my work. I went to a school 2 hours away from my family, I had no friends, and in the middle of covid we couldn’t do anything. I was in a 4 person/2 bedroom suite by myself which was great, but I couldn’t focus on my work which was weird because I’m in a dorm room by myself 24/7 the least I could do was do homework😂😂 I spent more time at home then being on campus and I decided to just go back home and finish college online and I’ve been so much more focused and happy.
Do what’s best for yourself no matter what other people say. The decision may be hard and people may not agree with your decision but it’s your life and only you can live it so live it the way you see fit! ☺️ It takes a strong person to admit that they’re struggling and trust me you’re not the only one!! Keep your head up❤️

lexi! i think you should really pray on this one ! because our feelings will have us miss our blessings . jeremiah 20:11 For i know the plans i have for you declares the lord. plans to prosper you and not harm you . God already has a plan for you, all you have to do is submit your ways and he will establish your steps. Understand that stuff is going to get hard and stressful but there’s nothing God can’t handle. i hope and pray you make the best decision! not off your feelings but based off wisdom that will be beneficial to your future! i love you girl

I experienced the same thing in college. That freedom to make my own choices and being away from my family structure was so difficult. The first semester was rough. I made the decision to move back home (but continue on with school), and it helped me in a major way. I just needed to be back in a structured environment. Maybe moving back home will help you with the discipline aspect. Whatever you decide, just weigh the pros/cons and do what’s best for YOU. You’re the only one your decision has to make sense to.

I feel like we need to break the stigma on taking a gap year. I am currently taking one after the worst senior year ever. I had mental health problems, and life was crazy at that time during my senior year last year and I knew it wasn’t a good idea for me to go to college just to go because you ‘ should go right after you graduate ‘ because that’s not true at all.
I don’t always love the fact that I’m currently not taking classes in college, in fact a lot of my time is spent thinking about college. But I can say my mental state is better , and I have a more clear idea of what I want to be and what I want to do. As well as what I don’t want to end up like or live a certain way. But the stigma of “ Ur wasting ur time “ or “ you’ll never want to go back bc you took a year off ‘ or “ you’re just lazy “ or “ you need to figure it out “ needs to stop.
If anything I WANT to go back to class more than ever since , because I hate working an entry level job everyday . The job I have is fine for now , but I know I want to get out of working entry level jobs as fast as I possibly can.
Everybody has their own paths , with their own time. Taking a gap year , I believe personally should be more encouraged and common. It hasn’t been the funnest time, but it teaches a lot of lessons and you find out a lot more about yourself.

College is not for everyone Lexi but if you love creating content and doing things with social media then i say you find a college of the arts or even do things like trainings that can help you improve and develop your social media knowledge. It's okay to not always be okay and it's okay to be lost at times. Just make sure after that moment of being down you're back up ready to make for your time lost. God bless😌

Lexi!! College away from home, is culture shock for MANY. Don't get down on yourself..More importantly, don't give up , please. Perhaps move back with your parents & try taking 1-2 classes at at time for now, instead of a full load?!! I left school after a year and regretted it many years later. At 35 Yrs old, I finally realized I needed to go back to school to get my degree. Oh how I wished I had knocked it out when i was 19-20. It isn't just school, its your future and the things you learn in college will help you in becoming an entrepreneur. Right now, if you are not focused enough to keep your grades up , a temporary break may be needed because you don't want to throw money out the window. Hang in there, you are awesome. Life is full of peaks and valleys, you are experiencing a bit of a valley.... it is temporary.

Hey lexi! College doesnt define your intelligence or you. We all learn and conduct ourselves so differently and some things that people excel in others dont. You can be just as successful without it and thats the amazing part of life. Go at your own pace if you want to finish school only take on as much as you can handle. It took me 5 years. Praying for you!! You got this girl💗

As a fellow college student in my sophomore year I can completely understand where you coming from I managed to keep a bf, have a job after school, do extra circulars, have a social life and keep A’s and B’s all through high school but college I can barely keep up with the work, it’s sooooo different. Last fall semester for me and this semester I did the same thing as you, I didn’t do my work for weeks and had to email all my professors and spent the month of November making up all my work while keeping up. I’m doing the same thing this semester and need to get to that “I need to get this s*** done” point. It wasn’t till college where I realized I have anxiety and that was thru having multiple panic attacks. Your mental health is essential don’t let anybody tell you different and your not alone in this feeling! Trust me all college students know.

I’m only half way through this video and I just want to say, if you really feel like College isn’t for you? Let it go. It’s not everyone’s path. It’s not the routine that everyone should go through. School generally makes people unhappy right but there are some of us that passionately dislike the whole setting cause we see ourselves some where else. And guess what? That’s okay. Put a stop to what’s stopping you. Get into entrepreneurship sis. Excel in that environment. Give it your all. Take a leap of faith and do what genuinely makes you happy. College isn’t everyone’s route of life and that’s just how it is🥺💕. When you said “your brain hurts from even thinking about it” , that’s when I knew this is really stressing you out😢. When you’re ready, take the leap of faith. Doesn’t even have to be a break from the second semester. It can always be closing the college chapter as a whole to start something that fuels your fire. I hope you get the courage to do what sets you free and brings you absolute joy some day😌💕. Love and Light Lex😌💕

Honestly I feel you on this college life it’s really not it , ima freshman in college also and it’s kicking me in my ass we have different majors im a nursing major but I understand your struggle my advice is just follow your heart if you believe you need to take this break take it . If you believe that you should try and be strong through this whole college process do it . Also if there’s a community college Around try taking a class there community colleges are sometimes better than a regular college . I did dual enrollment in a community college and it helped a lot and I wasn’t as stressed as I am now in an actual university

Now I am 26 living in my own house with my fiancé and 3 year old son. I am in my second year at community college & I am so glad that I waited until I was 100% ready. I can absolutely relate, college is so hard especially the first year, because there's just a lot of transitions happening and everyting's happening so fast. It can really take a tol on your mental health, but as long as you have your family's supportive you can definitely get through. Hope things get better for you and you make a decision that is best for you and your mental health. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hey Lexi, I totally understand where you’re coming from, I’m a junior now and i promise it gets better. I was in the same boat I had to have a come to Jesus meeting with myself and ask myself is this something I genuinely want to do. I was miserable my first year of college I had horrible roommates and I was 3 and a half hours away from home and didn’t have any friends at all. I felt lonely and under pressure all the time but I promise if I got through it you can tooo!!!! Praying for peace and clarity on whatever it is❤️❤️

Breathe. You're going to be just fine. Now, you may not need college, but if you quit, years from now you most likely will regret it. This is just another step into adulthood.

hey lexi idk if you’re gonna see this but, i’m sure you see the comments of people telling you not to drop out for a gap semester. but don’t listen to them. i attended Alabama State and i needed a gap semester. i’m currently about to take another cap semester because i just can’t handle it atm. i want to focus on other things and school is just in the way atm. i hate being stressed all the time. i hate feeling like i’m not good enough for school. i hate the feeling all around. so i completely understand where you’re coming from! so what’s best for you. don’t listen to these people in the comments telling you to stay. go with that gut feeling. college is not for everybody.

I do college but I stay with my parents because the extra support is needed quite often. It’s not talked about much when people mention the plus side of living in dorms. Being in dorms can actually have a negative effect on someone’s schooling (not everyone but a lot of people) and it’s okay to do online or attend somewhere closer that allows you to be with family and not just friends. Go with what makes you happy and maybe think about options that allow you to be flexible. I have four friends who started with dorms and felt exactly like you, they returned home and got everything back on track with grades and stuff.

Being a college student and trying to produce content for social media is hard as hell coming from someone who also goes to school and tries to post on social media. I love how you mentioned college is not for everyone because realistically college is not for everyone and that's something everyone should know and not judge others for their choices. I'm so sorry your mental health was going down hill, I know it's hard and it sucks. Regardless of your decision, you have so much love and support

You should do what you think you need for yourself but personally I think that you are doing great and it’s hard going through such a big change (hs and college) I think that you should give another semester a try and maybe do a lighter class load. Do what you think you need for yourself but I think you should give another semester a try. You got this girl 🤍

I totally understand the way you are feeling! that happened to me my senior year of college. Some professors were understanding some not so much. But balancing your stress, anxiety and procrastination all together can be tough. I also took a semester break and came back and finished last year! It helped so much!

  • @DrewsClues

So, school, and in general stress is a part of life. I would say before giving up on school eliminate the things less important to your success. Like for example you don’t need to be on campus. It sounds to me like that is a big contributor to your stress. The living situation needs to be adjusted. Like you said you don’t have the appliances, basic bathroom access…the lack of these basic things impact your emotional health. If your environment is not right you won’t be right. Sounds to me like you need more support and help around. If I were in your shoes I would move back home before giving up on school. See if the environment changes and the support of your family reduces some of the unnecessary stress you have taken on. Just as you may think the issue is that your were not prepared for college, it could very well be that you were not ready to be away from the support of home! You don’t have to live on campus to enjoy college life. I had a blast in college, earned new freedoms and world understanding without ever living on campus. You were VERY prepared for college, you said it. You said you graduated high school with all A’s…statistically, research says you are the very person prepared for college. Work on your environment Lexi…this includes friends, all this impacts your success.

Whatever decision you make is what is best for you and what is set for you girl. I just graduated 'high school' and I'm in my first year of university studying medicine (you don't need a bachelors to do medicine in the Caribbean because we have an A-level equivalents which meets the requirements) and its tough but I know most things aren't easy when we first start out. Its like learning to walk or ride a bike. You're gonna fall a couple times but eventually you'll master it and the same concept applies for school. Yeah we might fail, heck I failed one of my exams but what's important is perseverance especially if its something you really want. If not then you could still choose to persevere or just drop that ish and save yourself the time, extra money and stress.

Thanks for sharing your life with us! Glad to know you’re okay. College life is challenging and anyone who’s ever been to college knows how life changing it can be. I admire your drive but I do know that sometimes you just need to take a break! Your true supporters will always be there to support you through good or bad times.💖Tbh, maybe you should consider moving back home with your your family and just travel to campus to take your courses. But of course the decision has to be made by you and between your parents. Keep up the good work and keep Vibin💯

I went to college straight out of high school and I struggled so bad mentally and physically . I wasn’t ready but I went because I had so many expectations of me being that I did so well in high school. My best decision was taking a year break after that first semester and started going to a school closer to home. Deciding to not return and taking a break was the best thing I did I didn’t care about opinions and did it!

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made was deciding to take a gap year after my first year of college because that gap year became two years and I never went back. Going to college right after high school was too much for me. Later I decided to attend a technical college and I obtained a medical license but later found out most hospitals do not even accept the type of license that I have. Now I work at Walmart as an HR Manager while running a small business. It would have been in my second year of residency if I would have stayed. This is just my experience but please make your mental health your first priority. 🥰

I wouldn't suggest virtual learning from home. Even at the age of 30, I even struggle to stay on task and get stuff turned in via Dropbox. Maybe it's because I have three children and work a job, but online school is totally rough. I'd say if you can remain strong and stick with in person college, do it and just continue trying your best. You're so smart, Lexi. Hang in there! 💞
