Japanese Papermaking in Asakusa!

Dave Bull and Ayano Okamura went to visit a nearby papermaking experience - Watashino - organized by a group of papermakers from Shikoku, who recently opened a shop near Sensoji Temple in Asakusa.
Dave and Ayano-san had a ton of fun making the paper and learning from the instructors, and happily recommend the experience to anyone visiting the area.

The way David assures Ayano-san that she’ll get overtime and she casually tells him she’ll leave early and they both move on shows some great boss-employee relationship. Wish my boss was this chill

Fantastic! Seeing several people attempting the same process with wildly differing results was fascinating - over an hour disappeared in a flash, it seemed!
I loved watching this process. I do wish the captions were on all of the time. It was fascinating to hear when Ayano-San was speaking how her accent almost seemed to change. I haven’t been around the channel in a while so I don’t remember everyone’s backgrounds very well.
Another thing that I always love about Dave is he always has that excitement of a kid on Christmas morning whenever he sees or participates in activities related to his passion for Woodblock printing. He really gives me the feeling that there will always be things to be admired and appreciated regardless of our age and the era we live in.

You guys should do a collaborative experience.
Make your own paper and a printparty with that paper a bit later (a day? a few days? how long does that stuff take to dry)
They dont do printparty's anymore. They dont have the manpower and space to do those.

Baumgartner has rolls of washi so it's machine made, possibly Japanese, although more likely Chinese or Thai made.

The earthquake was right over on the other side of the country; we _felt_ it here in Tokyo - the Mokuhankan building shook for a minute or so - but there are no serious effects at this long distance. Thanks for your concern ...
