Is this safe to perform? I have read that due to a firmware issue, the Nissan Proximity keys are risky to program because sometimes they can brick the IMMO? Do you know if this is correct?

You can always program a key as long as it is not locked.

@@didiebarne8885 a new key is unlocked. As soon as you program it on a car, the key is locked. If you read the key with the programmer, you will see that it is locked. You can now only reprogram this key on this car (bcm). If you want to program it on another car (bcm), this will not work because the key is locked on the other bcm. If you now put another used bcm in this car, the current keys will no longer work because they are locked on the previous bcm. So you will have to program new unlocked keys.
