I'm new to Georgia so I'm learning and researching about all of the rules and requirements for a Nonprofit business. I'm a foster parent of 13 years and I owned a nonprofit for 3+ years in another state helping at-risk teenage youth. I recently found out that Georgia has over 300,000 children in the Foster Care system. Smh just sad. That number is astronomical and something(s) need to be done about it. I want to open up a home for our youth. I have the experience, time, patience, love and understanding. So, thank you for sharing this information because it's very helpful to me considering I'm living in this new state. Continue to make a difference in people's life 🙏 every bit of help counts. I’m in GA also. My goal is to create a nationwide bingo event to raise funding for a program to empower veterans to move from homeless to home lease. With what u just said about soliciting donations from other states, I would have to do the state tax exempt ppwk for 50 states!!! Holy moly Batman.
I want to create an organization to help my community and others to build, grow and clean greener. I want to create better building codes to reduce our environmental impact, create community composts and gardens and help reduce toxic chemical use. Registering as a business is expensive, can I just wait to register after I get my plans moving? I'm in GA.
How would it work if I have a non profit in one state and wanted to expand to another? Would i have to go through all the start up steps again for that state?

It’s definitely a lot! There are rules for raffles and gambling that you need to research as well.
I just completed the process in Ga..... background checks, personal info, applications, etc etc. very involved

Hi, if you plan to operate in the state you would typically apply to be a foreign entity. But always check with the Secretary of State office first
