Cars reversing during bus lane enforcement operation

  • You may have seen the viral photo of motorcycle riders that turned around and started driving the wrong way in the EDSA bus lane, during an i-act enforcement operation.
But did you know there was also a set of cars that started reversing back along the bus lane, during a different enforcement operation for the exclusive EDSA busway?
This is a late upload. The blurring takes longer than usual, because there’s so many vehicles and people moving around at the same time.
My opinion, based on what I've seen during the MMDA busway operations over the past week or so, is that there has been a reduction in bus lane violators, compared to what you see in this video - at least during certain hours of the day.

@@PaoloFamily-pr1mo the bus lane being empty is not a bad thing. It proves that the system works. They're able to move hundreds of thousands of commuters, while only occupying a single lane, and it doesn't even experience heavy congestion - for the most part.
The buses used to be on the outside lane and it never worked.
Firstly, every time a car or motorcycle wanted to join or exit the highway, they had to cut through the bus lane, causing constant stoppages.
Then you had issues with the buses making illegal terminals, illegal loading/unloading, racing each other, fighting with other drivers etc. etc. Even with extra enforcers and camera enforcement, this was never brought under control.
Locking the buses into the inside lane solved a LOT of problems and has proven to be an extremely effective commuter project. Aside from helping commuters, it helped to reduce overall congestion and traffic on the other lanes.

The local police need to start doing routine traffic stops for regular offenses like speeding, no turn signals, no plates, lack of protective equipment, lighting etc., if they ever hope to have a western style of driving, until they do that Filipinos will continue to skirt the law. Sadly, corruption is pervasive in the culture.

"regular offenses" shouldn't exist. Kulang talaga discipline ang mga Pinoy.

With how the Philippine police is, I can see a potential for abuse of power. And this honestly is a pipe dream, but for what you said to happen, there needs to be a very thorough reform to be done from the bottom up.
But that won't ever happen with the persisting corruption in the government.

Most drivers say they're in the bus lane because they're in a hurry.
It's rare to hear anyone say that they didn't know it's a bus lane.

You know what will stop this? A 25K php fine 1st time. Then higher for repeats. Is it high? Yes, but these people need this to be deterrent.

MMDA should add more enforcers because 2 tickets can pay their salary for that day. They can even put 3 enforcers on every exit points of the bus lanes.

the 1k fine won't deter morons from using the bus lane though the City Goverment would surely benefit from the sheer number of fines issued in a daily basis.

I hope they fix this area of Ayala to Magallanes Bus Lane. Busses from Buendia going to the right to Ayala "Taas" bus terminal* (No bus passing thru the underground) Traffic occurs.** Same goes with Ayala "Taas" going to the left at the bus lane. Traffic all over! I hope there is no accident in the near future. Ride safe always 🙌🏽
