I live in Denmark and I can answer your question with one word. Your question: "British Reaction To Why Scandinavian Countries Are Outperforming the UK in Every Way? Answer: HONESTY (within the people and the politicians). The institutionalized HONESTY avoids crimes in society and corruption in politics, making everything work.

I live in Finland and here also are based on trust and honesty. What we promise or say, we deliver. It´s always been that way, but we´re introverts. Yes, we have problems of our own, but not at the same extent than in USA.
The Danish Unions know that Firms need Profit to be able to exist, so they don't claim higher salaries than reasonable. So they agree with the Employers Unions on what is possible and will benefit both (And they have Economists with similar skills as those buying a Workforce). And because of our High Membership Rate, they are also able to negotiate for those without a membership!
I had a Scandinavian girlfriend once, not sure from which country, the only thing I know is that she was not from Finland, because each time during sex, she yelled: I'm not Finnish!
Simply because the Scandinavian countries and Finland are outperforming UK is because they're not as much class societies with a powerful nobility as UK. There is nobility in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, but not as influenctial. In Norway there is none, it was banned in 1814.
Dane here. Be careful of the colorful optimistic picture being painted here. All of these advantages have drawbacks as well. One being a heavy handed legislation, confining individual freedoms and requiring a lot of central registration and red tape. The state knows everything about you and your life. Oh, and the taxation is brutal. #3 in the world actually.
Dane? Really? How on earth is it confining individual freedom? That sounds like old fashioned rhetoric from the 'over there' fear mongering, not from an educated Dane .. You are NOT danish, when you refer to red tape, either that or you don't really know what 'red tape' refers to ... silly you.

The problem with UK is that it is UK, an English empire.
I had a Scandinavian girlfriend once, not sure from which country, the only thing I know is that she was not from Finland, because each time during sex, she yelled: I'm not Finnish!
