      In this generation yes men are very weak in that sense which I don’t mind I want to be a doctor but yeah when we talk about men not being as ambitious is mostly because society has made men more weak and have a choice to not work as hard

I mean what's the deal with earning all the money to provide for a family you never actually see and that you'll get so estranged from that it endangers said family and the bonds that should exist between a man to his wife and children. Women need husband's, children need father's, not overworked ATMs that gain status by providing as husband and father but not actually being one. I'd be very lonesome in such a relationship, and I'd have been unwell with a father like that. The only couples I've ever seen where this workaholic mentality worked out were married to an equally successful woman. They either had no children or some that were raised by others, totally estranged. It worked for the adults involved but not the children.

      I agree. I've been a fan of Amala since she was just Will Witt's sidekick on Prager and she's gotten SO much better as a debater and a podcaster especially. She worked at it and got better it's beautiful to see

    Btw a lot of those highly ambitious men that attain those high status positions suffer greatly at th cost of their family. Which sometimes results in marital affairs, children having resentment, or health related issues due to stress.

      Men are going to have affairs regardless of being successful, if it’s their desire they’re going to do it. Even financially unstable men find a way to “cheat” but honestly infidelity shouldn’t be involved in topics like these. That’s leaning towards more of a personal issue or communication problem within the family & relationship dynamic of a couple. There are too many factors that contribute to infidelity in relationships/marriages.

    She’s speaking nothing but facts. It’s not that women are INCAPABLE of doing these things; it’s that they generally don’t even possess the desire for them. And of course, without the desire, there is no drive, and without the drive, you can’t hope for these types of positions.

      They are incapable. A small percentage of women actually are capable and don't crumble under stress, but a large percentage of them do crumble. They can't handle all that politics, power game and constant pulling that comes in the way to reach the top.

    The thing is, women are just as good of leaders as men. All my best bosses have been female. But if women aren’t able to both have a career and a family, women will choose family over work a lot of the time. If we as a society want women in positions of power, we need to support female leaders, and honestly we need a different work environment. Men shouldn’t have to be working 80 hour weeks and missing every family event either! We can re-structure those demanding jobs so that people can both be leaders and have time with their families. Then we get the benefit of good leaders of both sexes, and those leaders get to enjoy happier lives. Why are we acting like an 80 hour week is INEVITABLE and unavoidable? It isn’t

      Sadly with success and breaththroughs, that's not how things work. Plus, men don't build all these things for themselves. Most of what men build is for women and the children as well. It will never be equal as again you missed the point. Many women don't desire those things. Scandinavia is literally proving that.

      Sounds nice but realistically the men and women that aspire to be CEO s are wired to go get those kinds of situations. Your assertion is based on the mentality that people are happier if they work less, but these CEO types will probably disagree. There are people who love their work and I’ve met them. We can’t assume that family is the one thing that makes everyone happy. Nor can we assume that working less makes everyone happy. That’s why C suite jobs are rare and are given to only those that have the type of value system to get to that position.

      Agree, plus there was the lie that you could “have it all“. No, not for most. The women who do appear to have it all simply don’t raise their own children and hire a bunch of people to cook, assist, ect. They might appear to “have it all”, and it should be re-named as “outsourced it all”, more “multi-life management”. IMHO, you would be a slave to your own ambitions. No quality time with the most important parts. Completely inauthentic.

      Its not just about a family or a career though because the woman doesnt need to have a family for the argument to work. Its quite literally women on average not having the biology to sustain high pressure, high intensity, very demanding jobs.
      The reason why leaders(men) are compensated well is because only few of them can do it WITH less cost. That means less pampering.
      It is absolutely unrealistic to restructure those things in an al ready established society.

    Yes and no. There are definitely biological and psychological factors at play; however, social gender roles cannot be ignored. At least in my experience. I’m Asian, and although my parents and teachers are all highly educated, as I was growing up, I was often being preached about “I’m a girl, I shouldn’t be so competitive”, “it’s more important to marry well than to have a great career”, “you will eventually have to balance between work and having kids, and since men just can’t take care of children that well, you should do it”. I’ve been hearing that shit since middle school, and it’s hard to shrug its influence off.

    We can sit here and argue back and forth about how men and women have set personalities that make them feminine or masculine but the truth is and always will be that every single day you encounter men who behave in a stereotypical “feminine way” and women who behave in a stereotypical “masculine” way. Personality does NOT have a gender. Let’s stop teaching kids especially that they have to behave a certain way because of their gender because I think that this sort of thinking that this woman describes is the cause of this whole trans trend. Instead of telling women and men that they can be masculine and feminine, we tell them they have to be masculine to be a man and if a man is not then he gets told that maybe he was “born with the wrong gender”. This sort of thinking that this woman describes is very toxic.

    I climbed the corporate ladder. When my baby girl clung to her babysitter and rejected me, this momma bear tapped out. I had my babies to raise them. As important as it is that we let men know it's ok to be masculine, we need to let our daughters know that it's ok to choose family over career. We are pushed to go to college to get the best career we can get, but what if being a homemaker is where our heart is? I don't want to gain the whole world and lose my soul.

    I don’t think women are biologically less likely to take leadership roles, I think women are socially influenced more to take on nurturing caring roles. It’s an important distinction as some people can interpret this message to mean women are biologically programmed to not be leaders which just isn’t true. Women can be leaders but they have to sacrifice family to do it whilst men can be leaders without worrying about that because women have been taught to take on those roles for them.

      actually it is scientifically proven that women do how the tendencies to be more nurturing. my parents (mostly my dad) actually try to get me to do the “80-hour work-week” thing and i’d honestly rather have a family. i still want to work, just not that much, because i want time for family. and i’ve never really been affected by what society says. but this is just my personal experience and opinion

      Respectfully, this way of thinking is incorrect. In countries where women are socially influenced and steered toward STEM fields, they have found that the majority of women continue to choose careers that are have more relational capacity or no career at all and have a family. Biologically, and generally, women make different choices then men and that’s okay. Both are wonderful.

      @@dayspringreeves5636 I think she’s talking more of generally rather than the STEM field only. It’s true that social norms do affect women’s stance on taking higher position roles. In East Asia parents generally pressure their daughters to marry early rather than find a job or else they’ll be what society calls them the “leftovers”. This typically means that even if you do have a good career, if you’re over 29 and not married you’ll be very stereotyped against. The irony of that is women now in East Asia do not want to get married (as well as men) and these include the rapidly growing Japan and South Korea.

    Female boss here: One of my biggest challenges is the expectation to be maternal and coddling by other women or female employees. The men are fine. My only issue with men is I have to repeat myself three times typically lol but overall women are 100% more difficult to work with. A lot (not all) seek direction or aren't as driven which is fine and ingrained in a lot of women but I take initiative and do push forward whereas a lot don't. They also poison the well with shit talking around a space whereas men have these extremely supportive roles with each other and collaborate so well for the greater cause of a company. I've seen it with other women at my own company but it's rare. Most just want to clock in, get a raise and seek you out as a mommy not a boss. Sorry, but it's the truth. These days I've preserved myself by going solo sans team and way happier.

      I'm a woman and have worked in a professional staff setting where 75% are female. The men's behaviours are not that different, I fact a few men needed coddling and women worked together.
      Btw the department director is also a woman.

      I guess it depends which types of jobs you have. I’m an er nurse and the females aren’t coddling or maternal-we get the job done fast because we have to. Maybe because ers are made up of over 80% females, the idea that you get special treatment from male and female employees is nonexistent. The males, however, are coddling and sweet, and usually take longer to get the same task done. The doctors won’t mess with the female nurses because they know we don’t take crap from them or the patients.

      Many feminists always talk about how they want status (but clearly without the work and effort required). I have heard women on shows complain about long hours at work as a high positon, and it's like... Um, yeah. That's the tradeoff. You can't just have the status without the sacrifice.

      @@nothingreallyrhymeswithora9377 they actually did studies on why women don’t succeed/like their jobs that require long hours, specially with parents. Many studies and surveys have shown that although men will make the same (or even less) than their female counterparts, they will do only 20% of the housework and childcare. People always say, “70% of women file for divorce” but then refuse to see the other side that those females filing for divorce are expected to do more housework even though they do the same amount of job hours. I love my job and I’m now a nurse practitioner, but I also don’t have kids and don’t want kids. The er nurses I work with that are married with kids have more “passive” husbands that are able to (and want to) help around the house while their wives work 12+ hour shifts. Of COURSE there are people (female and male) that will complain about a long day of work, but it really depends on the entire situation.

    I think this is less of an inherent thing and more of a social influence thing. Women are influenced by their surroundings to be more kind/nurturing/feminine from a young age, but this doesn’t mean it’s something that’s completely natural (not influenced by society.) You’ll see female leaders in nature a lot (lions for example.) I think many women are very capable of being leaders, but are pushed away from the idea because the concept is not “womanly” or “feminine” enough.

By majority men and women are different and the hormonal biological differences between men women is what is the cause this should be common sense and used to be. That is until women started wanting to be men and by emotions tryin to manufacture their own reality

    Those men are able to do that because they have a woman taking care of their household needs. Women are inclined to take care of household needs because historically they were not allowed to work and career growth is a new and unknown area for them.

    Truth. But on the other hand, when talking about different "types of marriage", the importance of the "male figure" in a child's life is constantly mentioned. Why do you cling to that argument if it actually means someone's non-participation in raising a child, the lack of a constructive element in the formation of those who remain after us? 80 hours of work a week destroys the family - that's the real problem! How many such people do you know with successful marriages? Best of all, those 80 hours do NOT have to be done by one person.

      It became a topic because that lack of drive from women some took it as if women were stupid and that triggered a few, also, it kinda meant that women cannot be leaders in general and again that idea made some angry, people don't like to feel mocked, undervalued or belittled (its happened more to women throughout history than men), some just got tired of feeling like that and well, the approach they took to discuss this issue hasn't been the best though.

    I have worked 50-70 hours a week for years in a leadership position. I also have 2 boys that I love and care for- it just depends on your family dynamics. For example, my husband works from home and is more than happy to care for our kiddos during the day, while I work about 50 hours at the actual company, I work the remainder at home after the kid's homework, dinner, Bible reading, and bedtime routine. It works for us, but may not be for everyone.

      @@lavieentoni7654 because I didn't go to work and my ex husband paid for my expenses I was declared not independent plus at the time didn't have my driver license, but I cooked several meals a day, cleaned, made his lunch, and did so much never asked for help. Now that I work as a mom, I can't take care of my house hardly, cook, and do the things I felt made me independent instead I depend on a job to tell me what to do and etc. I have my driver's license now but it's little stressful driving sometimes cause people can't drive anymore.

That's the way the system leads people to believe you depend on a spouse you aren't independent when it's team work 100%. I don't depend on family. I've done everything on my own. I work now and feel less dependent. Modern feminism has spreaded misinformation on independent woman.

      Depends on how she got that leadership role. Was it by merits or equity/affirmative action. In my 25 years of working, I have yet to be amazed by a female boss. I've seen too many of them make emotional rather than logical decisions that have really messed up the work for everyone.

      she's talking as if there are so little women in the workplace who are very career oriented and goal-driven, while in reality to be taken seriously they had to work twice as hard. honestly she isn't qualified to talk about this, they should gather 50 career oriented women with exceptional work ethic and listen how they are treated, espescially in the 1980s vs now, what changed and what still needs to be changed.

      My point is that the free market has been shaped for the last 100 years by the competitive nature of men. That's fine, it drives innovation, infrastructure and many other things. That's why women tend to struggle because most are not built like men (to her point). Healthcare is a great example of an industry dominated by women, there's just not an entrepreneurial model that is profitable for the things women tend to prefer.

    First 5 years of running my business I worked 70 to 80 hour weeks. I had 3 weekends off in the first 5 years. Once the business for up and running and successful I cut down to 45 hours a week and delegated.

    See this sort of thinking is why we have this whole trans thing going on. Personality does not have a gender. You can be a woman that does stereotypically “masculine” things and you are still a woman. Studies show that women and men are emotional, caring beings. This has nothing to do with gender, it’s just human. Everyday you encounter people who do not fit their gender stereotype. Does that mean that they were born with the wrong gender? No, personality does not have a gender.

    Very true. My older sister and younger sister are perfect examples of this. My older sister is highly educated, well traveled, unmarried without children and works very hard, becoming a department director at a HBU. My younger sister has continued to further her education but did so to supplement her husband's income once he left the military but split that between being a mother of the boys, now grown men.
    Interestingly, my older sister assumed many of the parental duty of my youngest nephew who greatly resembles her. Her saying he is the closest to having a child of her own.

    A man’s conviction is a silent deal we make with ourselves that we will move hell and earth for our families. Not everyman thinks like this but is generally the price that comes with leading a house hold. Unfortunately, as I said, most men make this a silent deal. Because we need to be tough and can’t talk about our feelings. Perhaps that mindset should change. For that, wives need to understand the hell men go through, and men need to be reminded why we choose to go through hell. A woman and man who can communicate and compromise for the sake of each other can take on the world. First though both need to acknowledge that in a relationship one is not more important than the other. As soon as you start putting your own suffering on a pedestal you become entitled, and entitlement has no place in a marriage.

    You are so right. In addition, there are women like myself...highly logical and analytical (62, Sr. Software Engineer), yet I am also personable with great communication skills. I am not emotional when it comes to business. I had many opportunities to move up in management. I did so for awhile, but because I wanted then had kids stepped down, then declined thereafter.
    Funny thing is, I never regretted it. I love what I do, I make good money working from home (which I've done so since 1999). I did not make these choices due to pressure from husband, family, or friends.
    Women have choices, they need to stop listening to others and look deep within themselves...do what is right for them!

    My mother was a CEO. She was on the clock 24 hours a day. Call came up, she had to answer, had to leave while we were having dinner? She left. She's now retired and one of her biggest regrets in her entire life is having missed my childhood. She told me she wishes she could have gone to my plays, cooked some meals, been there when I got home from school. She never did any of those, she was always working. She was hella rich, sure but I was raised by my nanny pretty much.

The most “equitarian” societies on the planet (the countries that have, through state policies, done the most to equalize men and women) have only seen an INCREASE in the disparities between men and women in career choices. When men and women are given complete freedom in their choices of career paths, the differences become greater, not smaller. Women overwhelmingly choose career paths that are people oriented (like nursing) whereas men overwhelmingly choose careers that are object oriented (like engineering).

    I understand why women would want to see other women succeed in these central leadership roles, but like Amala said, they are time consuming jobs which require so much attention and in all honesty, we all know that for the most part the content of the jobs aren’t very appealing to women.
    I’ve become interested in politics just in the last 6+ months. Any time before then I would have looked at anyone sideways if they tried to talk politics with me. It had nothing to do with the kind of career paths that interested me and I’ve always known how demanding a job like a politician would be. Even now understanding the world to a higher extent, i do not want to be a “girl boss” ceo and neither do majority of the women I do know.
    Saying that we need more women in Parliament and those kinds of jobs is a lie. People who hold passion for these kinds of works are the ones who should be there based off of skill and work ethic, not merit due to their race, gender or identity. Having a woman suddenly as Prime Minister or President will not change anything ‘dramatically’ (and I say it like this because it may very well inspire some) . At the end of the day your gender has nothing to do with what you bring to the table as an individual and that’s how it should be. We focus so much on watching the stats for women and men in the work place but it’s time to accept that at least for now, these kinds of jobs aren’t appealing to this current audience.

    My aunt was an extremely succesfull woman. She had a lead higher management position for multiple countries leading the facility managers there at a big oil company. She was never home. Always traveling and in conferences. Living out of hotel rooms. When she was at home once a week she would order takeout or go out to eat. Her kitchen never got used. After her fridge broke she didn't replace it since it was always empty anyway. She lived for her job. No kids, no husband. Completely devoted to her job. Once she was forced into early retirement she didn't know what to do with her time. Since she was quite literally alone. No real friends, no family, nothing. That's what it takes to be successful. And she was far from a CEO. Had a nice house though. Drove a big company car. Could buy nice things. It's a choice.

    I think it's important to add in these types of discussions that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the tendency of women to make these different life balance choices. It is in no way a failing, nor is it a given that the 80 hr a week CEO is happier.

    Yes! Look at Bud light now! We as Women sometimes forget that if Men are mostly buying the products then cater to them, IF IT IS wOMEN USING THE PRODUCT CATER TO THEM , NOT TO RACES!

    A little history lesson. Queen Elizabeth the first, she is a ruler a queen she still ask her generals and courtiers for helping her make the rational decisions. Also to add as well. Around her time as Queen many Rulers from other countries wanted to marry her with of course ulterior motives of being a part as king in her country. The best course of action is not marrying any of the Kings from other countries due to them being jealous or join forces to conquer her and whom she marry. With she great decision she was able to be alliances with these countries and kept peace.

    Yes!!! When I'm on fires I have 112 hour work week sometimes more, I've chased spot fires for 2 days with no sleep

    One of my good friend refused to become a cardiologist (she had the grades to become one) and choose to become a family doctor instead, because she's planning on having children, and wants to have more time for them.

    I have been that way since I was born!! But as I was more qualified, seasoned, and knowledgeable, I was passed over for high paying jobs by young, no qualified males!! How Dare you!!
