When the Chronicles of Narnia came on I could hear the griffon screech in my head. That's how deep that soundtrack is inbedded in my brain. I even know the scene used!
No it's not. I actually thought it was a remake movie of the 1939 version. I can't believe that movie is 84 years old. So that means it was already 41 years old when I saw it for the first time as a little child. That's equivalent to a 4 y/o watching Robin Williams in Popeye, or The Blues Brothers for the first time.

I got 58: my best scores were in the first two categories; I feel like I should be able to get half points for Amarcord because I named a different Fellini film, but I didn’t give in to the temptation.
Putting Back to the Future in 4 is interesting. If you battle with someone, one can get 4 points and it can be exciting again. Or it happens the same like me: I thought really hard about the movies before BTTF so I couldn't remember which movie it was. I thought about a Sci-Fi movie with space shuttles, because the movies before were difficult. So I hadn't the obvious answer in my head :-D Shame on me 😂

Always prided myself in being a movie nerd and knowing a lot of films that were released before my time, but I might have to reconsider... I've also learnt that a lot of similar genres use the same kind of musical style and instrumental arrangements. Especially the older ones. Didnt keep score but I had a great time . I was surprised at how many I recognized but couldnt name and then when the answer showed it was because I had never seen the movie. I was absolutely blown away that Seven Brides For Seven Brothers was included. I recognized it immediately. I loved that movie and bought it on VHS, altho I might have taped it first. Great selection. Missed some that I recognized but couldn't put the title on, which made me lose some substantial points. I'm quite content with my 68 points though, even if I could (should) have gotten more. By the way, there were 100 soundtracks, ranged from level 1 to 6 : 18, 22, 21, 14, 12 and 13. The maximum score is therefore 319.
I wasn't keeping score but it's crazy that you can hear a song your whole life and never know where it came from, while others are so engrained that it's impossible not to know. also, is it old hollywood or is it disney? YES. definitely a lot of influence between movie genres

Really great list. Started with the usuals, but the last couple of groupings had some far less well-known (but still great) tunes that it was great to learn about.
The first couple rounds had a lot of films that many fans would recognise and were watched by various age groups, while the last couple rounds had a lot of films that many people who grew up before the 1970s, maybe earlier, would remember.
Love how Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon, Chicken Run and Ice Age each have distinctive soundtracks. And really happy the Big Country and The Apartment are pn there. Only thing is you missed the Magnificent Severn. 😂

After level 4 I assumed that I probably wouldn’t recognize any more of the music. Then out of nowhere my favorite song from my favorite John Wayne movie appeared in the last few minutes. Baby Elephant March is a phenomenal song and Hatari is an amazing movie

From 72 points, add three if you want to count "Batman Begins" or "the Nolan Batman trilogy" as correct for "The Dark Knight", and add six if it was okay to pause for a few seconds to try to place and then name The Sea Hawk (which I did successfully get without further hinting and of course before seeing the answer, just not in the 15sec allowed).
I love movies. I feel like I know a lot about movies. But this quiz... This quiz included so many movies that apparently are classics but ones I haven't watched yet. Therefore, I only got a 47 out of the possible total of 319. I have a lot of homework to do, starting with the movie Pyscho!
So much talent..So many beautiful theme songs or melodies...and Arnold Schönberg said he didnt know where the music is going (back at the beginning of the 20th century)...though Im so glad it did continue ...All so great classics but I'm sorry to say the Disney classics had more creativity than the newer Disney movies..Something tells me they need new composers or a new page in their present history....

And there were a lot that I had seen many times, but didn’t pay enough attention to the background music to notice or make the connection. I’d imagine you’d have to be working in the movie and TV music editing business for the last 70 years to get all of these. 🤣

What is "true knowledge"? You either know something or you don't. To remember something you have to know it to begin with. Not a single one of these is obscure, even the older movies are ones that are regarded as some of the best movies ever made and guaranteed way more than 5% of people on here will have had some exposure to. The whole point of an iconic soundtrack is you just ned to hear a few bars of it and instantly associate it with the film; if you can't, it's either you have a bad memory or because you haven't watched it. Either way you can just admit that; there's no shame attached to not knowing and no need to blame the quiz for being obscure.

It’s amazing how many songs I had recognised as hearing many times in the past but then had never heard of the movie when it was revealed.

Really great list. Started with the usuals, but the last couple of groupings had some far less well-known (but still great) tunes that it was great to learn about.
The first couple rounds had a lot of films that many fans would recognise and were watched by various age groups, while the last couple rounds had a lot of films that many people who grew up before the 1970s, maybe earlier, would remember.

I just sat here for the majority of the video doing nothing because I’ve never watched most of these and had no idea what the songs were lol. I had no chance. I’m not big into movies or music so I don’t know what I expected.
After level 4 I assumed that I probably wouldn’t recognize any more of the music. Then out of nowhere my favorite song from my favorite John Wayne movie appeared in the last few minutes. Baby Elephant March is a phenomenal song and Hatari is an amazing movie
That ramped up in difficulty so quickly! I got almost all of the level 1s and most level 2s, but only picked up a couple going forward from there each level. (Three or four on level 3, two on level 4, one on level 5, and one or two on level 6.)

So much talent..So many beautiful theme songs or melodies...and Arnold Schönberg said he didnt know where the music is going (back at the beginning of the 20th century)...though Im so glad it did continue ...All so great classics but I'm sorry to say the Disney classics had more creativity than the newer Disney movies..Something tells me they need new composers or a new page in their present history....

I was stoked that I got Life Is Beautiful right, I only watched it once. The Great Escape and Bridge on the River Kwai are two of my favourite WWII movies and were recognisable from the second note.

I didn’t keep score, but I missed 75 of them. Some of these were very obscure in my opinion. A lot of them I’d never even heard of, let alone watched. And there were a lot that I had seen many times, but didn’t pay enough attention to the background music to notice or make the connection.
I’d imagine you’d have to be working in the movie and TV music editing business for the last 70 years to get all of these. 🤣
Nope a mixture of a film nerd and a quizzing nerd so once you done a few dozen “guess the theme” quiz you learn fast.

What is "true knowledge"? You either know something or you don't. To remember something you have to know it to begin with. Not a single one of these is obscure, even the older movies are ones that are regarded as some of the best movies ever made and guaranteed way more than 5% of people on here will have had some exposure to. The whole point of an iconic soundtrack is you just ned to hear a few bars of it and instantly associate it with the film; if you can't, it's either you have a bad memory or because you haven't watched it. Either way you can just admit that; there's no shame attached to not knowing and no need to blame the quiz for being obscure.
