One of my favourite parts of this episode is how they won on two levels: they poisoned them, AND they scared them away from Paddy's out of fear of being poisoned despite the free drinks forever
Well we're only 3 episodes away from one which I think truly cemented Dennis from a narcissistic, arrogant, self absorbed asshole into a straight up malicious, sociopathic and genuinely EVIL person.
The thing with Frank is that while yeah, the things he did to Art Sloan's house weren't technically as bad as Dennis', he was thoroughly enabling Dennis the entire time. And not in a "goading you on so you can take the fall later" way; he was genuinely enjoying it. And yeah, Dennis and Dee are both grown adults who have agency over their shittiness, but it becomes more and more clear that Frank is a big reason they ended up this way to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I love Frank. He's absolutely hilarious, and the show wouldn't be the same without him. But I don't think that Frank is as harmless as these guys believe he is. I'm not mad at them or anything, but I just hope these guys eventually grow to appreciate the rest of the Gang as much as they do Frank.
I think the difference with Frank is that he's almost completely unrestrained. He'll do anything that he wants to do at any point. There's almost no malice behind it, he's more like an animal which makes it easier to forgive. When the others do something terrible it's because of their ego's or obsession or it is out of sheer malice. Frank does horrible things just to make himself laugh, which sounds worse but is actually just more entertaining.
@@MrNephthys17 Yeah, in the present day, that might be true, but it was his shitty parenting that's partly to blame for Dennis and Dee ending up the way they did. The show consistently makes a big point of saying that the Gang's issues mainly stem from parental trauma, so yeah, Frank does have a hand in that. But like I said, I'm not mad at Frank, or at BW for clearly liking him over everyone else. I just want them to eventually appreciate everyone else the same way they appreciate Frank/Danny DeVito.
The whole poison-in-the-relish-jar conversation is such an underrated bit, Charlie Day and Danny DeVito's deliveries are honestly top notch. Actually in general I feel like Danny is on fire during this episode, the whole bit with him doing that guy's taxes is just hysterical, and the payoff with the skinny jeans was brilliant

"How does that--that doesn't mean you won!" Calvin, of course it does. Because the gang thinks it does. And in their world, if they think something, it's true 😂 I wish I could say there aren't actually people who think like that, but... there are, unfortunately. I just hope a whole group of them aren't friends like in the show 😂
Well and they did win. They lied about the whole flip cup game, they never intended on playing. + the college kids went with assault right off the bat (stun gun) Therefore by the rules the college kids established (anything goes) for battling the gang won.
I’m glad you guys caught Dee cheating with the flip cup. I’ve always noticed that & assumed it was just something they couldn’t work around in shooting
I love this episode! It was my favorite episode when I first watched, idk why. I think maybe this is the first time we see people maybe WORSE than the Gang, and then the Gang winning in the end is so satisfying
I love Dennis' epic rants. He is a legend. We're still sometime away from him declaring himself, a golden god. The Paddy's Gang is on Winston Bishop hustle of Prank Sinatra, except they do both, go too big and too small at the same time.
5:13 Why am I only just now realizing that “clout” isn’t a new term? Lol For some reason when it became a popularly used term these last couple years, I’ve just been thinking of it as a brand new term that only just became a thing (very much like “rizz” for example). Despite me 100% having heard it used sparingly for probably most of my life. Lol I must’ve just forgot about it and I only now realized it because it tripped me up for a second hearing it used in an episode of IASIP from 2009.
*watching Looney Tunes* Aaron: "How is such behavior tolerated!?!?" Calvin: "I would call the authorities immediately to deal with this rabbit character."
Why is it that some videos eric is in my left channel and Aaron is in my right with Calvin firmly in the middle, and this video Eric is in the right channel and Aaron is in the left?
They always make excuses for Frank. But hate the others? I don’t get it. My ex and his friend used to always call me Dennis saying I’m just like him but female version. I denied it but … I’ll admit it now. Yeah, I see it. Definitely. That’s probably why he’s my number 1 favorite. Then Dee, probably because I realize how hard it is for her as an actress to even keep up or out stage them. Which she totally does when she does her own stunts like ramming her head into a car door, flipping and rolling down a hill, and even getting waterboarded.
To be fair to Calvin, it seemed like he enjoyed seeing the Gang poison the frat boys (and Dee) much more than the idea of simply losing to them fair and square. So, the Gang's terribleness doesn't seem to be as big of a factor to him as it does to Aaron most of the time.
They have lol, Calvin is smiling when he calls them assholes and Aaron has said he enjoys the show more and more with each season. They both think the show is great, their cringe towards the gangs antics is still enjoyment. They love to hate them.
