I think you're going to be fine Kevin. Don't overthink it or worry about it. Just stay away from the Roundup from now on. Take care of the gang my friend.
We've all got a little (or a lot of) Roundup in our systems, whether we ever used it or not!
@@lindajohnson4204 we do...yup. I used to haul chemical tank and pulled a lot of Dow material. Used to fill a 5 gallon bucket with a chemical used like Round up, but was way more powerful. Whatever you sprayed it on, grass, weeds or anything would never grow there. You definitely didn't want to use it on lawns, garden areas, or areas where you wanted growth. I sprayed it around the rocks and walkways, driveway, mailbox....that was 20 years ago.... even today... NOTHING grows in those spots anymore.
Kevin we use Epsom salt, vinegar, dawn dish soap and water. Mix well and use a sprayer. It kills weeds quite well. We have dogs and wildlife on our property so we don't want to take chances with things like roundup. With the Epsom salt you want to mix it in very hot water to dissolve it.
Boiling water nukes the roots and wont kill you..😂 stay safe . Love the setup
Hey Kevin. I'm going to share a technique I used a few years back and still use to help keep myself from asthma.
Back in 2012 I had a ruptured bowel and I only had about a 25% chance of survival because I went completely septic. Even had an ostomy bag for 7 months that (🙏🏻) was reversed. However, I know our Lord had bigger plans for me and I made it through because of Him.
While I was healing in the hospital for 5 weeks, I decided that while prayer is a wonder, I needed to do my part to heal as well. So I imagined all my white blood cells as surpercharged Pacmen, eating their way through all my infection. Yes... I even played the sound in my head... lol. I asked Our Father to give them infinite lives and mega strength and the means to overcome all those nasties.
I would start at my feet and work my way up through my whole body, chomp, chomp, chomp.
I have read a lot on visualization and its benefit and don't feel it to be a woowoo thing as God gives freewill to use the abilities He provided in our Creation. (Longvwindedness being of of mine)
So move forward to the last 4 years... I have had horrible asthma after exposure in the work place to methane and black mold in tge 90's. I decided if Father God would save me from all that other stuff, I could ask for the means to heal my lungs to go from using a rescue inhaler 4-5 x a day to having to use it maybe 3 or 4 times a year. The key for me was more visualization. Working in a bad enironment (bc we all know big business doesnt care) I knew the air wasn't as say, fresh, as it could be. I wore masks everyday long before The Coof made it so "fashionable". To overcome that, I pictured whatever was in my lungs would have (to me) a gross green or gray or brown color. And that the air outside was like pure light of Father God infused diamonds of Life. Good oxygen vs bad yuck.
I'd come out of work and the moment I got out - BIG breath of clean blessed diamond sparkle air in through nose, hold, release through mouth and picture everything that was bad in that building air as coming out from my mouth. And that stuff had gray or yucky greeness to it, it fell to the ground and dissipated. I did this the entire way to my car, feeling The Father's blessing on each intake of air. In, hold, out
In hold out.
Over and over
And I thanked Father God and, importantly my body (myself, my spirit of belief in prayer and miracles) for releasing all that didn't serve my Higher Good.
I still do this if I'm around scents that bother me as I was overly sensitized from all the mold exposure back in the 90's. I'm not that girl to go to Bath n Body Works. Just give me good old water and a relatively non- odorous soap.
Anyway.... maybe you could try it for a bit. And you have the advantage of that sweet, sweet clean air at your altitude to aid you. It truly is God's Country compared to the Valley.
Don't beat yourself up. We're afterall, only human. I know you don't eat a lot,but maybe a one day fast to help clear your body.
I'll be saying prayers for you for release and renewal and a positive outcome to this exerience.
PS- love the torch weedeater method.
Extra hug for Dexter and pets and scratches for the whole Woof Pack.
You can tell a man by the way they treat animals. Thanks for being one of those people
Pow... Bang... Kaboosh! I just beat you up.
After having three major tumor surgerys, I am very careful about the chemicals I choose to live my life with. Round Up was such an easy way to clean up the weed problems around my different projects that I used it for many years. I don't use it anymore. I like the idea of the torch though.
Kevin also you can use the backpack turned towards the front also. That way you see the dogs in it. Don’t use anymore roundup….not safe for the pets.
11:06 Store your Horseshoes the other way Up.
When the horns are pointed down, the Luck runs out of them.
Nobody has need of Unlucky Horseshoes.
Don’t know if anyone else mentioned it but 35% vinegar works really good! To kill any vegetation, Walmart carries it here!
Roundup works slow, can take 2 weeks to kill established weeds, especially if its cool.
@rustyshakelford7934 I agree. Kevin was expecting it to work instantly. I mix a concentrate and in my 15gal ATV sprayer. In 2 days you see some wilting and in about a week most of the frail weeds are shriveled up. Just don’t apply it upwind and wear gloves when mixing it. Walmart has several different brand of concentrate. Twenty-four bucks made 10 gallons and I had some leftover.
Oh, I forgot to say that my Yorkie, Joey was terrified of our bug zapper and refused to go outside but eventually he got used to it and it doesn't make him scared even when a moth sizzles for a long time. He doesn't even care anymore. I just tried to change his attention to the zapper by playing with a squeaky toy and the other dogs were outside with him at the same time. I have Joey the Yorkie, Audrey the Pomeranian and Sugar the Bichon Frise.
Love waking up and finding a Woof Pack video,👍🏻💕👍🏻
CVK …..I love your content and I’m a loyal subscriber for 8 years. I have a couple of bits of information you might find helpful! First, the cinder rock you have spread on your property is porous. All of the Round Up or any other liquid you spray on will be absorbed into the rocks. Any weed killer can only work when the ingredients reach the roots of the plants being sprayed. Watch carefully for the next good rain you get. You will see how the weed killer works when it is washed into the soil that grows your weeds. Second, you have done an amazing job with your property. You are inspiring others to want to create positive changes in their life. Thank you for adding interesting content for all your viewers! As always, ……..and Jesus is My Savior !!! 🙏👍👍🙏
Don't worry about the round up incident. You get plenty of fresh air constantly. Live life to the fullest brother. Enjoy your furr babies and friends. Don't forget you ate blessed
Kevin, worry about things you have control over. It’s already done! Eat well with antioxidants and keep on going! 💖
That was a good buy on the back pack. Roundup does cause cancer but hopefully since it was already dispersed, you are on the safe side.
Awe the prickly pear 🌵 and flower 🌼 is so cute. I hope y'all have an awesome June. Hope to see you soon 🤞
Hi to the woofpack and everyone
You bring a lot of joy to me whether your travelling or stayin put. A true go to videographer you are.
You be fine, it takes LONG term exposure to maybe get sick from it.
I was a farmer all my life and used it for ages and I’m not sick from it, no worries Kevin
Maybe Dexter had a run in with an electric fence - the controllers make ticking noises similar to a bug zapper. So far it looks like you have survived the Roundup smoke. Keep the woof pack happy!
Kevin, As long as you feel ok now and didn't get any symptoms while you were burning the weeds, I think that being in the open air diluted the fumes enough to not cause any effects or damage to your lungs. My Round-up required dousing the weeds in my driveway cracks 2 times and they didn't get killed. I ended up having to pull and weed-wack the weeds. It was a waste of money for me too. Mae Mae won't have to walk with her new backpack sling, and it will make her leg feel better and protect her from stickers from cactus and snakes. I would be deathly afraid of snakes with my babies running around.
My Yorkies didn’t like the backpack in the back. I bought a front one and they love that! They like being able to see you and not the back of your head. Hopefully he’s not also scared of fireworks. I would get rid of the bug zapper because he won’t get use to it. We had a Yorkie that was scared of fires so we stopped having firers in our fireplace in our home.
I personally wouldn't worry about it...worrying can be bad for the health too😉....I like the torch method....more fun then spraying. We had a dog once that would get all wound up when we pushed the button on the electric hand held bug zapper...didn't even have to zap anything...she could hear it as soon as we pushed the button. Best of luck to Dexter! 😎✌️
You will be fine!
You are covered in prayers! 🙏
According to the CDC, you should not allow children or pets to play on or touch areas treated with weed killer for at least 24 hours after application, or until it has rained or been watered. However, studies show that chemical residue from weed killers can remain on surfaces for up to 48 hours
Hi Kevin try buying smaller bag Zepher or put it further away from the property ~and slowly move it in if needed One that’s not so loud and big and then maybe just get a couple more small ones ~and just ease them in also, you could board off A area he can’t get into and put it behind something so-he can’t see it could just be the noise, my babies freak out when they hear ~The clippers turn on something about the sound makes them think they’re going to the groomers lol you should not let this prolong any further because he may run away and then you will be devastated. I hope this helps sincerely, Amy.🩷🙏🏼🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🐶🐾🍀🌷🍃🌼🍃🌷
After inhaling that stuff, you may just become a superhero like Spiderman!
There are bud detergent lites that don’t make the zapper noise, the bugs just stay away or get sucked in if get to close and die. Called Dyno trap.
I don't like Roundup, but I think you'll be ok. The torch you're using scares me too because of fires. I know you're careful, but it would only take one stray spark. I would give up on the bug zapper. Poor little Dexter has been through enough without being terrified of noises on his home turf. Love your videos.
No getting rid of the bug zapper isn’t a good choice because he will never get used to hearing certain sounds and learn to relax, it’s just going to take a lot of love and patience and understanding for him to figure it out and Kevin has all those things!
Hi Kevin.
Don't worry about it for now,
but if you start coughing or have trouble breathing, or are not feeling your normal self then I would call your DR and see what he thinks about it. If
he's not worried about it then you will feel a lot better.
Poor little Dexter. Give him a little extra attention and tell him he's ok it won't hurt him that might help. You are a great Doggy Daddy so you will figure it out
Just know you and the babies are always in my prayers.
Give the babies Ear scratches and Tummy Rubs.
Take care see you in the next Video.
I would think the roundup would be dry and maybe some residual in the roots maybe. What I understand the new round is way watered down from what they used to sell. I wouldn’t fire up the newly or wet roundup but the dried I would think would be okay. Of course I’m no scientist or doctor. No but stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last week. lol.
Kevin, be careful with any type of chemicals. I have had cancer, and I don't use any chemicals.
Hi Kevin!
That cactus plant is so beautiful with the yellow flower!
Love your garage sale find for little Dexter!
Love them babies of yours! Your a great daddy for them!
Sending a prayer your okay from your little mishap spraying weeds. I think you'll be okay. Prayers for that to our gracious, Heavenly Father! The one we give ALL the glory to! God Bless!
And great vid!
Wow Kevin you're looking Great!! Good to see ya and the pup's. God bless ya'll.
Hope all is well Kevin. My dog is 12 and has been with me since 7 months old. She is extremely stressed when I am driving long distance . This quivering /panting/can't lay down & relaxed started in the last year 🤷
Re: Dexter and the bug zapper.. Maybe a small crate outside with a cover over it that he can get into as a safe space. You wouldn't have to lock him in but just encourage him to use it as his protection space. Our dog Sadie is terrified of storms or loud noises like fireworks.
I was think the same thing, dogs like a den type shelter when they are scared, we have dealt with that many times
Hugs to the Woof Pack💕💕🤗🐾🐾🐶
Happy Trails🌄👣👣
Safe Travels🙏✝️🕊
That backpack is actually for a larger dog. I have one like that. They are supposed to sit on their haunches with their front paws on your shoulders and their head sticking out. Their is a block you can put in the bottom for a smaller dog. K9 Sport sack makes a similar one and has videos on how to carry your dog.
Hey Kevin. I've heard Roundup is already in most of us because it's in our food supply. Don't worry too much. Also I've used Roundup on my weeds where it took 4 or 5 days before they were totally dried up. Just takes a while.
Hey Kev and woof pack, good to see you all! I don’t understand people being upset about you sponsoring products as it helps you and I’m sure if they had a chance to make a little extra to live they would. Not to mention I giggle watching the mattress jingle every time. I’m glad all is well and I agree with Frank, I believe after some time Dexter will definitely get used to the bug zapper. We have a doggie back pack for my grandsons little one and it is handy, we take Buster in the grocery store and never had anyone say a word about him other than wanting to pet him. Much love and many blessings
I wouldn’t worry too much about the roundup fumes; doubt anything will happen after one exposure. However, for the safety of the woof pack, I wouldn’t use any more where they can walk or lay on the treated ground. Vinegar, vinegar/epsom salts/dawn works well and no toxic worries. I’ve even resorted to rock salt for a persistent crepe myrtle that kept coming back too close to the house. As for Dexter, maybe try giving him treats for awhile when it buzzes. He’ll associate the noise with a reward.
Beautiful flower Enjoy your Day ,nice 🎒 bag for little dogs ,Thanks for sharing ❤️ 👍
It was fairly short term exposure so I don’t think you need to worry. Lesson learned though.👍
One thing I can tell you about a scared Yorkie. They never get over it. They dont move past it. I’ve got a 12 year old that is scared of the same noises she’s been scared of her whole life. We avoid making the noises.
Poor baby dexter, I agree with kyhilltophome, a crate outside for a safe a space would be an excellent idea. I worry about him hiding in the same spot as a rattle snake.
I think you will be OK. Round up is bad but it takes long term exposure to really do any harm. Besides, you probably burned any chemicals before you breathed in the smoke. Great seeing the woof pack. Perhaps move the bug zapper a little further away from where you are sitting? Might make Dexter feel a little safer staying by you if it is further away? Love to the babies!
I love the carrier backpack. What a “steal”❣️.
I think a one time thing with the roundup will be ok. Lots of different things you can try that are natural. I do like the propane burn, as long as no fires, good you're prepared with water. Pups looked comfy in the carrier. 🙂👍
Kevin, The Bayer Corp. know owns Monsanto the maker of Roundup. I checked out there web site and there is a lot of info you might want to lookup, plus how to contact Bayer Corp, which is located in Germany. I would keep the Wolf Pack out of the area you sprayed even tho its been a few days. Glyphosate is bad stuff. You could call your doctor also and tell him what you did and see what he has to say. Stay safe.
Can you give Dexter a treat occasionally while holding him in the bug zapper area. Just get him desensitized? Good luck.
Kevin take cheap coffee grounds in metal dish and light works for bugs like a charm.
Get free used coffee grounds at Starbucks…..
Praying for you brother! We fly soon!
I use the flame thrower in Havasu. I get the white smoke (I don't use Roundup). The smoke is from moisture and oils from the weeds.
White distilled vinegar, Dawn or Dollar store Blue dish soap, and Epsom salt. It works, and it won't hurt you. Mix in gallon jug. Google for measurement of ingredients. I had good luck with it. My friend do not use RoundUp. Not good for the wolf pack either.
I use the weed burner on my daughters driveway. My problem is is it doesn’t kill the roots, and the stuff comes back up pretty quickly. If the round up was the right strength and working like it should. It would get drawn down into the root and killed it at the root .
For bugs, get an infuser and put eucalyptus oil in it. Works great and maybe won’t bother Dexter.
Put your hand on the surface where the dogs paws are touching and make sure it isn't too hot for their feet. Cute little pups.
I recommend giving Dex a tiny yummy training treat with every zap noise. Train him that the noise means something good, just to get used to it. Then fewer treats and stop. Only problem, Tucker with think he needs a treat too 😆
They have calming drops at pet stores or just plain cbd drops . Calm Dexter right away. Rescue remedy one kind of drop.
Hi Kevin. I'm a school bus driver. And I've noticed that the highschoolers sometimes will wear their backpacks on their front side AND their back if they have more than one backpack. Tho some do wear it all the time on their front side for security reasons. Just an fyi.... Peace! Out! ~ Peg
My stepdad recently bought a trap that has a built in fan that sucks them in after they get attracted to the light. I haven't heard it zap. I'll try to email you a picture of it. Always enjoy your videos.
Please don’t worry about the Round Up. It’s only a concern if you use it a lot (not once or twice).
You need to de-sensitive Dexter to bug zapper. Unplug and place where you hang out; on the ground..other dogs will approach and smell; and he will follow the lead. Can also leave a treat farther away and then reduce the distance a bit; until treats are right next to it.
If you start coughing a lot Kevin then go to the doctor. Don't put it off better safe than sorry. Take care God Bless.
Can you put the bug zapper a little farther away from the sitting area and still get the bugs?
My uneducated guess is that a short, one time exposure will not cause you any long term grief, but what do I know…..
Add something to bottom of backpack so Dexter can stick his head out comfortably.
Kevin, you were right to be afraid of that round up. No good can come of it. It's also really bad for the dogs to come in contact with it. You are better off with vinegar & dish soap. As far as burning it, probably not the best idea, but at least most of it's gone now. Sometimes when people are spraying it the loose their voice from breathing it in. You still have yours, so consider that s good sign. Take care. I like the the back pack! 👌
I bought one of those propane torches at Harbor freight a couple months ago for the weeds in my yard, I wish it had a longer wand as I have to bend over when I'm doing it and it bothers my lower back.
Vinegar water soap and salt work but not as well may take a few applications, torch works if you burn enough but can be time consuming.
I wouldn't worry about it. It's already done, and nothing you can do about it anyhow. Keep your faith the God will take care of you, and move on with your life without concern. I think Dexter will eventually get used to the zapper once he realizes that he doesn't get hurt when the sound happens. I do feel sorry for the little guy though.
I have only found a few cacti on my 36a. A few prickly pear and one yucca. Mostly grass and trees. Your man card is fine!
KEVIN!!!!! I am a retired chemist. I used to write MSD sheets. PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:
1) Determine the exact ROUNDUP product you used. Online, find the MSDS that corresponds to that product.
2) Print off that MSDS and read it, paying attention to any time it says inhalation.
3) If you start feeling bad, especially breathing, go to the ER, tell them your story, and BE SURE TO BRING THE MSDS WITH YOU. This will save countless precious minutes in your treatment.
I'm not a doctor, so I cannot give you medical advice, but please do the above, and I hope all will be well with you. Take care, and may God bless all at Vagabond Base Camp.
When you are sitting outside by the zapper, put Dexter in the backpack. The enclosed space will help him feel safe. Your calm presence will help him feel safe. He won’t be able to run away. Do that daily, but don’t let him out until he is calm. It will help him overcome his anxiety. Always reward his calmness. Ignore the anxiety; you don’t want to accidentally reinforce it.
Vinegar weed killer is good, you can make it homemade also with a combination of salt and 30% vinegar
WEED CONTOL, GOOD as any of them & SAFE....is a gallon of 10% or higher Vinegar, 1/2 cup salt, 1/4 cup of Drawn dish soap in a 1-2 Gallon sprayer. BAM🌱
Please don’t use Roundup. That stuff is so dangerous to you and the dogs.
I honestly don’t think a small amount of that smoke will hurt you -You weren’t breathing it in for hours and it wasn’t that much of a patch -probably, a lot of that round up has already evaporated anyway-I certainly wouldn’t spend anytime being anxious about it -God Bless 🥰
Many weeds are edible. I don't weed or burn my weeds, I look em up, and eat the good ones. My first purslane came up this morning. A superfood. My late winter greens are seeding out and will provide grains.
Wild Sunflowers are up and the leaves are high nutrient salad greens. I dehydrated quarts of leaves and sprinkle them on soups. I sprout the seeds in winter.
I am on a 😢 Free Food Diet. You may need it one day. All parts of this country is covered with free food.
Beautiful cactus flower. They ought to ban that roundup , it’s dangerous!!
Oh Kevin..just take a breath and be glad you have found out what you have and are now warned and informed. Don’t use that nasty stuff anymore, the torch is the best way because it burns the seeds too. LOVE the back pack! You better believe you got a good deal at $5!! All you did was essentially pay the sales tax on it! Dexter will love it. You know Yorkies, they love them some holding, snuggling time🤗 love and hugs to all from me, Bindi and Missy, our two Yorkies🩷🩷🤗🤗👍👍🩷🐶🩵🐶🩷🐶🩵🐶. 🩷🐶🩷🐶
We had a little dog which delighted in rolling in the cremaines under our bug zapper. Had to fence the area off. 😂
My little dog is terrified when my husband cooks. The smoke detector has gone off a few times when he cooks, and terrifies her. See, he’s a chef and is used to cooking in high heat. Now my dog goes hide when he starts cooking ☹️
I don’t think that breathing the smoke just once would do too much harm but I wouldn’t use Roundup again. It will be in the soil & dust until you have a good soaking rain.
I’d keep the dogs away from where you sprayed too. They could pick it up on their feet and ingest it if they lick.
Might be worth it to waste some water & spray down those areas real good to get it off the surface.
I'd find a clinic where they offer breathing treatments. Relax my friend. I'm sure you're okay! Much love. Remember, get yourself a breathing treatment!
Look up on the MSDS... I know Round Up isn't what it use to be But i would not spray around my pets.
I read that if you cover the weeds with black plastic, that will kill them...?
Move the bug zapper away from camp, and just drink lots of water and i would not useit anymore chemicals are not good however you look at it, enjoying your day, 😊
Also you pine-Sol spray yr area helps keep flies away
Also, regarding the doggy backpack, just wear it backwards and have him on your chest.
6/5/24....CVK----I use those 🟡 light bulbs for my OUTSIDE lights....
I heard that 🦟 mosquitoes DON'T SEE the color yellow....
I know I haven't had many bugs/mosquitoes 🦟 around those outside lights here in Central FL.
All companies have to post their MSDS material safety data sheets. And should have a hot line. I urge you to check it out. Ya never know what the long or short term affects will be. Also Dexter is probably also hearing the electric hum. It can be quite loud on things like that zapper. They are supposed to attract bugs, why not move it farther away and see what happens.
Hope you're ok. Will pray for you.😊
Hi Kevin. Poor Dexter. Our 60-pound Aussie, Kyna, has always been scared to death of the nail gun. No other power tool, fireworks, gunshots, or thunderstorms will turn her into a quivering, wide-eyed, lap dog wanna be like the nail gun.
Maybe carry Dexter around in the carrier a lot to help desensitize him from the zaps. He'll feel safer being with you. That one bad zap has stuck in his mind. Sometimes it only takes once to cause chronic fear. Poor baby. 😮
Like someone else said it takes awhile for Roundup to work 7 to 10 days at least and some weeds it doesn't kill. Got to read the label to see what weeds and the dose to spray.
Great score on that $5 dog backpack. Your dogs seem to love it and can't wait to get in and go for a ride.
Prickly Pear Cactus! Call the company , Kevin!!
I would never use round up around my dogs. My ex killed all our chickens and ducks after spraying round up.
My son uses a respirator when he does yard work due to allergies. He has one of those torches you have. An N95 mask would work too.
You also need to worry about the woof pack walking were you sprayed round up. Then licking thier paws
