I'm the same. :P It sounds stupid to others, but when they fuck up how the tables turn. Badly. Because tables can't turn very easily unless the table is circular.
I always imagined that saying refering to a big lazy susan, where the crap one person has served has turned all the way around the table to come back at them.
So apparently it comes from backgammon precursors, which were called tables. To "turn the tables" meant to play the game from your opponent's position, like "walk a mile in their shoes".
"How the tables have turned" is more like "how does it feel to be in my shoes". TIL.

I mean, makes sense, it's not like a lot of us who use the phrase know how to play backgammon, but it definitely makes sense given we have other sayings based on games (like "poker face" or "russian roulette", given roulette is a wheel of chance like the revolver's chamber is)

I had to check as well what the funeral march sounded like, so Jake shouldn't feel bad. Also The emperors theme music is inspired by the funeral march so it is easy to confuse the two.

@@kritomasP the UK lost the war and like every colonial power, their language for took over by the colony the had. Is not Portuguese is Brazilian at this point, no s spanish speaker tolerates Spaniard spanish and the "neutral" English is the US English

The fact is, that the country known as England, has English, and has had for longer than the US has existed, thus, ours is the "Proper" English. Something I will never yield on, while the US call Aluminium, Aluminum. And I don't care if thou hast a reply for it either. I simply thought your reasoning was utter nonsense.
