The story of a little river- Noyyal -- A BNN Production by Karuna Sagari

Noyyal is a little river which runs in the Coimbatore Tirupur region. Bhakti Natya Niketan presents a 75 min Bharatanatyam production which takes you along to experience Noyyal through historical, literary, environmental and societal perspectives.
For centuries, the Noyyal flowed in joyful abandon, cruising through paths, forging new ones, waving her wand of prosperity wherever she went. In turn, the humans revered her, built temples on her banks, worshipped her and led their lives in complete harmony with her.
Something changed in the latter half of the twentieth century. Prosperity no longer meant fulfillment and contentment. Prosperity had a new name: money.
Noyyal lay forgotten and in a matter of a few decades, she withered. Her veins were slowly poisoned, her beds treated like garbage dumps and she herself, sacrificed at the altar of a greater power.
And yet, like all benevolent mothers, she beckons us once again. Are we listening?
