I had lots of problems with EGR valves in the 1.6 FSI Golf engine. In the end I had the EGR blanked off and a remap to deactivated it in the ECU. The car runs SO much better. Idle is better, it revs cleaner and pulls a little harder too. The blanking plate was £5 and the remap was £150. Not cheap but one of the best investments I've made on my Golf. The car passed its MOT yesterday too, so no issues with emmisions, and the remap prevents a check engine light from coming on.
good video .only thing you missed was you did not clean the throttle body before you put it back had loads of carbon under neath it ma as well clean it before you put it back together
@@screwsnutsandbolts yes just seen from your post lol noticed it as you was taking it out how much build up under neath they was .good minds think alike again great video content
I was doin this but on the right side of the EGR the nut was not coming off the bolt was come out with the nut so I stop and put back in because I not sure if I should continue to take the full bolt out have you come across this and what would you do I like to know
I have Golf+ 2006 1,4 petrol engine. For my surprise the EGR valve and the metal tube are missing. Everything else us the same as in the video. I wonder if the previous owner removed it..
I was doing exactly this on my SEAT IBIZA just a couple of hours ago and unfortunately I broke the rubber hose connector ( not the radiator hose but the connector to which the radiator hose is connected). I don't know what to do now. 😥
9:53 Whats the purpose of the little black hose on the valve? My Polo 9N3 1.4 16V is leaking air through that. (i have tested it with a smoke leak detector)
@@screwsnutsandbolts sorry I’ve confused you. I meant the silver pipe u disconnected from EGR valve? Surely that’s full of carbon also. Also can you not completely disassemble this EGR valve. I have same car. And also an astra, 1.7cdti where u can completely break down the EGR and clean it thoroughly?. Cheers
Ah ok, I was just focusing on the egr valve itself but you could spray carb cleaner through the pipe too if it's clogged up, however I don't think this egr valve unit can be disassembled
Clean the egr pipe aswel as that is full of crap to you don't have to get it out as its a mission to get out just spray in place if you don't clean it 1 month later you get the same problems as I found out myself
Hello I discovered this problem on the computer Cod P0407 ( Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve position sensor B - low input Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit Low ) I don't know what to do. Is it possible to change the EGR valve or just need cleaning?
My 1.4i 16v shakes and revs go down to 400 when I cold start it,but after 2min it runs normally, also my check engine turns on sometimes, and sometimes goes off, also I noticed too when I cold start, the radiator vent turns On even when the engine is cold🤷🏼♂️what should I do?

It’s ideal to clear the Egr Valves on Volkswagen to improve performance . 👏
Perfectly done . I have the same engine on my Seat Cordoba and this is exactly the way to deal with the EGR valve!
Thank you !
Also you need to clean the pipe which connects to egr valve. Also after cleaning you need to check the work of valve itself, if it move good.
Thanks bro for your videos has been very helpful 🙏 I fixing up my golf car because of you very appreciate 🤙🏽
You're welcome 👍
Will be giving this a go tomorrow cheers
The best video I saw!
But should be clean the pipe of EGR? Or its ok?
Thank you. If it looks clogged then you should probably clean it as much as possible
I’m doing this tomorrow thank for the information
Good luck!
Top! thank you
Thanks for watching !
Amazing tutorial on how to remove it. Thank you! Btw do you only spray cleaner or also use a brush to remove the buildups
Thanks !. You could use a soft toothbrush or something like that but don't use anything abrasive
@@screwsnutsandbolts too late. Used a screw driver. Oh well wife's car. It runs now lol 🤣
lol 🤣
Great video
Thanks!
In my case? Cleaning fluid? 20 bucks, new seals 25 bucks. New EGR valve? 40 bucks!? WTF! So there is a new one on it now, but that was kind of weird.

Sometimes it comes off with the bolt if the nut has a lot of rust, don't worry about it! A little harder to get back on it's place but same method!
Hello! What kind oft software is it?
I have Golf+ 2006 1,4 petrol engine. For my surprise the EGR valve and the metal tube are missing. Everything else us the same as in the video. I wonder if the previous owner removed it..
It's possible that they used a blanking plate and got rid of it.

Помогло или нет , после трёх запусков обратно чек незагорелся?
Yes it cleared the fault, but the fault P0403 can also be caused by a faulty egr valve solenoid or wiring
Nice video frend sharing
Thank you for watching ! :)
Is it worth cleaning the inter cooler pipe out too if it’s clogged, using dawn carb cleaner. Cheers.
I'm not sure. This link might help: natrad.com.au/info-advice/how-to-clean-a-turbo-diesel-intercooler/

I would try cleaning it first to see if that fixes the problem
If it's a BCA engine, why don't I have an EGR valve? I have the same car from the same year and the same engine
Puede poner el número de referencia del sensor MAP ? Gracias
It could be 036906051G, 03C906051 or 03C906051F. You will need to double check it's the correct part for your engine.
