My audio doesn't seem to be working I don't know why. I have double checked each time to ensure I have plug it up correctly but always with the same result nothing. My Gopro Hero 5 seems to record the noise in the cockpit rather than headest audio. Any ideas?
Hello @RosarioPulvirenti71 Did you find out how to get the GoPro Hero 5 audio record the headset audio in the a/c? I am having the same issue with my GoPro
Great video! I follow the steps and have the GoPro connected through a wire and adaptor but still record the cockpit sound. Have you done any setting on the GoPro? Thanks!
Thanks for video. Question on the 11. This model has a slide door and guessing you have to keep it open to plug in the audio cable? Or am I missing something?
Question - Going for my one and only in a lifetime hands on helicopter flight. The guy showed me what looked like a 1/4 inch phone plug, except it was stubby. Shorter than standard. What is it, can I buy a work around, and is it going to be an issue. Great video, you make it look so easy.
Hmmm... Hadn't heard of that. Check out these links: (Google "U-174 NATO/Military to Civilian Wiring"... maybe?). I read that the stubby is an all-in-one plug - mic and sound. This might help: www.amazon.com/GA-Headset-to-Helicopter-Adapter/dp/B09CGSB9XX/ Good luck!
Hi David! The camera was a GoPro Max 360. The rotation is done in post using a Premier Pro plugin called GoPro Reframe. More info here: th-cam.com/video/GeYM2wQO3FU/w-d-xo.html
I agree that cable is pricey. I think the main cost added to the overall cable price is the GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter that is used by the manufacturer of the cable. 50 dollars for the adapter is a lot. amzn.to/3LX8d4I Hopefully someone out there will come up with a less expensive solution.

We did an experiment, trying to record headset and ATC with the GoPro Max, using an NFlightCam Audio cable. Apparently it doesn't record inline audio, so we use a GoPro Hero camera to record the audio, then combine the files in post. Darn shame. Thanks for watching our video!
Yes! Watch the video around 2:10. You can use any USB portable charger. It will still record, even while recording. Although USB ports that are used from the cigarette lighter power causes distortion in the sound.
Hi there! Great video, this is what I was looking for! When using that cable, does the GoPro still also record the background noises (like engine sound) or not? Thanks!
Thanks for watching our video! When the cable is plugged into a GoPro, it overrides the built in microphone, thus only capturing what is heard through the headset. We have another old GoPro in the cockpit to capture the ambient audio of the airplane noise. Then we combine the 2 audio tracks in post using adobe premiere pro ( amzn.to/3LkoQss ) or adobe premiere elements ( amzn.to/3AhnaJF ) Here's the cable: amzn.to/41JWeOy
Hey so I’ve tried this method couple times and couldn’t record the headset audio is there’s special audio settings I need to change with the GoPro I have the 7 hero
Amazing video very informative, thank you for sharing. Just a quick question, I used the same cable, I'm pretty sure I don' know how to configure so that I can also record the ambience sound as well, would you please share some information on it, secondly when I attach to my power bank the audio conversation fades means it will start recording then halfway no recording. Thank you.
Thanks Wasif! I ran into the same problem, wanting to record ATC and ambient sound as well. Unfortunately the audio cable, when plugged into the GoPro, bypasses the built in microphone entirely. So, to get ambient sound, I have a second GoPro camera in the cockpit to capture that sound, then I put both camera shots into one video in post production. I think you can also do the same with your mobile phone.
@@jamarupshaw2755 We always keep an extra old GoPro in the cockpit to record ambient aircraft sound, and then combine the all the GoPro recordings in post using Adobe Premiere Elements.
I have the NFlight adapter and when coupled up to my Hero 9 and plugged in, I get a horrendous high pitched feedback squeal. GoPro tell me I have to also purchase the Mefia mod as it’s the only way it will work because I have Bose A20 headset. Any advice welcome
When I power my GoPro from a cigarette lighter in the panel, I get the high pitch squeal in my recording. I had to switch to a chargeable portable power unit for long trips. Hey, I’m getting a lot of high hum and the audio level coming into the GoPro is very very LOW. I have the mic mod setting to Powered Mic + and that seems to be the best I can get for volume… any suggestions?
We used the default settings on the GoPro. We've haven't tried changing the Mic settings, since it's working for us. We also found that if we power the GoPro from the aircraft cigarette lighter, it gets a distinct hum, thus the separate battery charger. Also, we found that we getter a better sound from the headsets when all of them are the same model. It's seem that some powered headsets put out different types of sound signals. Or can your one cable pick up their voices too?
Hi Thom! Only one cable is needed to pick up both headsets.

There's that saying that everything in aviation is unnecessarily expensive. Is there a cheaper option for this cable? They are over $100 on amazon

Does this work for insta 360?
What’s the length of the cable you are using? The 6ft or 10ft.
We have the 10ft version. The 6ft one is not long enough to reach the overhead GoPro. Thanks for watching our video!
Good Info for my "other" RV. Van's RV Aircraft that is...
I need a pass thru door to hook the USB cable. Ordered it off Amazon. Nothing is easy.
Did you use the 6ft cable or the 10 foot?
We have both. In this video used the 10 foot because the camera recording the audio was behind us on the ceiling of the fuselage.
Looks like you did the Lightspeed cable upgrade. How do you like it. I just sent mine off.
Really like it. Worth the upgrade.
