Not sure Ivanisevic is the “best coach” - sure, did well but he was coaching the best player in the world when Federer had retired, Nadal and Murray were sidelined with injury and Sinner and Alcaraz hadn’t made their impact yet. Novak-Goran duo achieved many great things in tennis since 2018 and both are extremely proud of what they've achieved.
Even though Novak is the GOAT and he has the ability to do things on his own, He would still require a professional vision from outside the court who can guide him in key moments.
If Novak's goal is win Roland garros and Olympics and every other major tournament in 2024 then he will need a coach.
Whoever Novak is traning with now is a doubles legend and I think these doubles players have a great net game. Off late Novak's net game, volley , overhead smash and drop shots have let him off big time and that's the reason why he has a doubles champion in his side

honest interview by Goran. Coaching a top player who is used to winning and suddenly has a bad patch causes friction and the team takes a toll as the energy shifts .. lets not forget Goran was a great player himself and sometimes it can be exhausting to be on other end managing the roller coaster .. perhaps Goran will feel equally relieved to not be under pressure .. Baltics think alike and it helped Novak immensely to find next gear .. he isn't short of options but finding the right team chemistry is going be hard and vital as he enters his final years maybe 1-2 years tops. He isn't like Federer who has a long stretch after peak with one off grandslams.. Novak is a different animal ...

Djokovic doesn't need a coach at this level. He just needs a secretary to schedule all his training and keep him on track on all the little tiny myriad of details he follows to stay at a high level. No coach knows how to improve his game at this point. He just needs support and someone to bounce off ideas and strategy.

Novak is the greatest tennis player to ever live, and that has come with being scrutinized under the public eye for a long time - that's a lot of pressure and strain that inevitably makes its way to his team, and everyone has their limits 🤷

He came so close in the semi-finals three times before finally getting his moment of grand slam glory at Wimbledon in 2001. He has continued to win many more times in his life, vicariously through his fantastic coaching and mentorship of Novak into a multiple title/grand slam winner.

Things are getting more difficult for Novak because of his age and the quality of his new rivals. Any game with Alcaraz or Sinner or Zverev demands 4 or 5 sets, which is too much for a man that is close to 40 already. It will be extremely difficult for him to win another slam. So, rather than trying new things at this age, she should just have kept Goran until the end.

We may take it as "we got tired of each other", but what I read, not so between the lines, is that they are both fundamentally tired. Even as world No. 1, Djokovic has let people know that it gets more and more difficult for him to leave his family to go train and play. He literally can't go any higher as a tennis player, while just staying there demands tremendous effort against a bunch of outstanding new kids, full of energy and will to take his spot. That eventually undermines anybody's motivation, even Djokovic's.
So, Djokovic is really not looking for a better coach or a fresh, more productive relationship. He simply wants to slow down, start easing his way towards retirement. And he doesn't need to drag his good old friend Goran into that.

Thanks for this update. Makes a lot of sense - like any long term relationship, people get sick of each other at some point. Goran and Nole have been through some insane and intense periods together and they'll be bonded for life because of it. I'm sure they both have complaints about each other but wonderful to see it's an amicable split. Stefanos! Time to grab Goran now! 🤣 Seriously, if Stef can get Goran on board, he's gonna win a slam.

Again, I think Djokovic made a mistake. Djokovic is a hothead. There are already too many "yes" people kowtowing to Djokovic. Ivanisevic is also a hothead. He matches Djokovic's energy. Djokovic needs Ivanisevic to push him. When you surround yourself with "yes" people who indulge your narcissism, you end up like Michael Jackson, Prince, and Lance Armstrong, different people but with disastrous personal lives. As a great leader and human, he respects his fellows players and take also a part of the responsibility in defeat.

And how is that going to help Secondal and Thirderer who have been permanently rolling left in the dust and Novak with the GOAT records 😂 And Alcaraz can't even beat Dimitrov the flake who has beaten him twice in a row 😂

I think Novak has a couple of slams left in him. People were writing him off when Medvedev beat him at the U.S. Open a couple of years ago.
Novak knows how to regroup. He's still in good shape. As long as the will to do what it takes sustains him. His heart has to be in it. He's got a big heart and I'll root for him till he decides to call it a career.
Players like Roger, Rafa and Novak don't come along very often. It's been a privilege to watch them over the years. As good as the new top guys are, none of the will approach 20 grand slam wins. I don't think they will even come close.

Without Ivanisevic, Novak will not win another grand slam for the rest of his career--however long that it may be. He will remain at 23 till the end. Firing Goran was a terrible mistake! Ultimately, ego got the best of him!
