Slight correction, Goku was sent to earth not to destroy life on it, but to stay safe as clarified and shown in DBS Broly and DB Minus. His aggression most likely was due to being taken away from his parents, though if he didn’t hit his head he would still be more aggressive and less merciful than we know him today

You know that in the manga and original japanese version of DBZ the line is "IT'S OVER 8000!!!" the 9000 was only in the english dubs made by Funimation and the Ocean back in the late 90s and early 2000s
