Options can move the stock due to market maker delta hedging. If the market maker is on the other side of a call options contract with a buy to open then the market maker will have to hold a certain number of TSLA underlying shares. If there is a lot of call buying this can cause the market makers to buy a lot of underlying TSLA shares and push up the stock price. Further short covering can make the swings even more dramatic.

You ended up being right. I would have never predicted it in a million years because I was confident that earnings would be worse than even the lowered expectations. I was right about that part. But the stock is going up anyway, because investors are now focusing on the future, rather than the current lack of demand. I think earnings for the rest of this year and next year will be far below current forecasts. But that may not matter if the hype of FSD is more important to people. FSD will not be making the company any real money any time soon. It might in 2026, if everything goes well between now and then.
Agree 100% my friend! This market is insane and what moves price is rarely fundamentals which is crazy.
The world is full of greed for AI right now and FSD will be just another catalyst to create a market cycle

We already know, based on deliveries that earnings will not be good, and more importantly, outlook will not be good either. This talk about robo taxi, in my view is an intentional distraction by Elon. I am in for now but long gone before earnings,

Earning will suck. We know this already from the delivery numbers. Guidance? I am not sure. It depends on Elon and how much Ketamine he is on.

The only problem is that part of your premise is that earnings need to be good. There is no chance their earnings will be good. Did you see their delivery numbers? They were terrible. They will be reporting earnings on April 23rd. There is no doubt that the numbers will be really bad. In between now and then, there is always the chance that TSLA goes up on hype about FSD and robotaxis. That is really the only hope for bulls. Current fundamentals are terrible and will continue to be bad for the rest of the year. TSLA has exactly the opposite problem that they used to have. A few years ago, there was incredible demand but not enough supply. That is a good problem to have. Right now they have a bad problem. They have all these new factories and are producing tons of cars. But there is no demand to meet the supply. That is a huge problem.
Agree but earnings don’t have to be good.
They just need to be better than expected and mainly I’m looking at guidance and not the actual Quarterly results
@@TradersHelpingTraders That is correct. What is important is how earnings will be compared to expectations. The street was at around $.74 for the quarter. They have now come down to around $.58. If EPS is $.58 or better, the stock should react fine. But I think the number will come in much lower than that. I think the number will come in around $.38. I think it will be similar to the delivery number. People knew the delivery number wouldn't be good and it had already been lowered quite a bit in the days leading up to its release. But when the number was reported, it ended up being much worse than even the lowered expectations. I think you will see the same thing with the earnings.
