    Does he crave the power and endless attention that comes with the office? Yes.

    • @bobbun9630
      @bobbun9630 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's certainly a major fear for him. It was my position from slightly before his announcement for 2024 that his announcement was required at the time it was given because after the mid-terms people on Fox and other outlets he needs were talking about his irrelevancy. The way to ensure that commentary is correct is to sit back and let it go on. The only way to stop it was to make the announcement as soon as possible and hope he could change the narrative.
      The reason he hasn't really campaigned since is also quite simple, and it's not just a matter of laziness as this video suggests. It's because anything he says can and will be used against him in the court of public opinion (even if the courts of law do nothing), and there's no gain to be made for taking that risk as there's no one in the race to attack.

  • @FreedomDaveX

    Perhaps society needs to gather the courage and just face whatever slippery slope backlash happens by punishing powerful figures. I don’t think we are any better living the intellectual and moral inauthenticity of double standards. It’s messed up living in a world surrounded by legitimized inauthenticity where people don’t really care about punishing crime unless it’s to maintain the hierarchy of power inequality and the cycle of abuse.

    • @globaladdict

      @@FreedomDaveX It's an easy sell to those doing well and are middle class or upper class. Don't want to pay more taxes? Want less regulations on your industry? Want to identify with a group that actively promotes itself as in the moral right, on the side of the one true god, and has your back if you want to lash out at major societal change? Vote Republican. It does look like Rick DeSantis might lead them back towards something that was at least tolerable, ie the George Bush days, but it's all about the narrative.
      Which is why conservatives constantly attack the idea of it and accuse their opponents of falsely changing it. Donald Trump really opened up a can of worms with his fake news mysticism. It's a cult at this point. He has empowered his followers to cry Fake News and feel like they have the authority to write the narrative no matter the facts. The power of belief is real to an extent. You can't argue with a bullet going through vital organs. But you can argue with the facts if enough people treat your word as if it was from god.

      Honestly, yes. We should work together to be ready for them if they try (which both reduces the chances they try and protects people if they do), but move forward with justice regardless. Infinite kowtowing to the wannabee fascists is not a solution, sooner or later we've got to call their bluff and weather what they do, once we're set up to do so we should do it as soon as possible, since the damage of delaying it can continue indefinitely without the final shock getting any better.

    • @Corbomite_Meatballs
      @Corbomite_Meatballs ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue is they would be handled with kid gloves (look at the 1/06th folks...many of them will never have to defend themselves in a courtroom, and the ringleaders will likely get away with it, unlike the footsoldiers/pawns who the DOJ has actually struggled to get), as opposed to what his party would've done if, for example, Obama had tried what Orange Julius Caesar pulled off.

    • @05Matz
      @05Matz ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Corbomite_Meatballs Frankly, that's only if they GET to a courtroom after attacking their peers to selfishly push for autocracy. If the rest of America protects itself and its neighbors actively enough, the fact that surviving right-wing terrorists will be disproportionately let go by the corrupt justice system will still be a terrible crime, but won't actually cover a large proportion of the brownshirts in total -- the number 'removed from circulation' is greater than just the number imprisoned, there's at least two filters they have to pass to murder their neighbors and get off scot-free.
      Though that does only apply to the footsoldiers, if we assume the ringleaders (effectively immune from prosecution and nothing we can do will change that) have a limited population of bodies they can throw at us, and a limited fraction of their followers that CAN be turned to terrorism through their manipulation, we can weather that assault by exhausting the supply. We just have to keep the numbers balanced enough and between those who DO get imprisoned and those taken out of action by the consequences of their crimes in other ways, they'll run out before getting what they want. Then maybe, without their goons around to protect them, we can look into reforming the justice system to prosecute those who sicced the waves of trigger-happy lunatics upon us all.

If he had lost to Hillary, he could of had a career as a political analyst abd critic of Hillary's policies, always saying "well, here's how *I* would do it!" But he was completely unprepared to be elected. I theorize that Trump's deepest desire is to be a God-king; absolute power over a whole country, with admirers who literally worship him and begin a religion devoted to him if he died. He erroneously thought the presidency equaled a kingship, and appeared flabbergasted every time he had an idea and his advisors said "uh, yeah, we can't legally do that."

    Imagine being a New Yorker. We were aware of him in the 80s. We were wary of him in the 90s. On the day the towers fell, he bragged about now owning the tallest building in NYC, because his competition in that regard, lay in ruins. We were done with him. It doesn't matter how many Pizza Hut commercials he made, or how his reality TV show did in the ratings or his unfathomable ascent to the highest office in the land, or even how he performed as POTUS. We saw his true colors on 9/11. He was, is and always will be a creature with a black heart, and no empathy or concern for anyone but himself. New York tried to warn the country in 2016 not to let him near the presidency, but...
    Trump is done, but Trumpism is a stubborn stain that must be removed from the halls of power if we ever want our government to work for its citizenry again. We must vote them all out until they are gone, and we must marginalize and disavow anyone using his playbook.
