Hi there, it's me Jeff Vlogs, I really appreciate for what u did there guys. In future I'll make more vids abt 3kgt. Let the world see abt 3kgts from ur channel, that it still amazingly lives, even in Dubai sands. Mr. Aaref (SMS570X) is the main guy for 3kgt all over Dubai. Support us always. Much love & God Bless you all.
My burning desire to travel to Japan developed when I was 5 years old. That would have been in 1989. It was greatly influenced by video games from Nintendo and cars from Nissan. Other things appeared that made me want to go there even more. I became fascinated with what was and wasn't sold in the USA since the late 1990s. Using search engines which were popular before Google led to interesting results. We could see bits and pieces of things that were translated differently, but never the whole story. I also read that the Nissan 240SX had a 2.0L turbo engine in Japan, and I refused to believe it. I had some friends who were huge otaku, so I had an idea. I said "If we ever get to go to Japan, let's bring back a genuine school uniform as proof of the trip."
@@izzdin6228 i did find a good job, but my fiance didn't agree with another 3kgt since we want a kid. So we agreed on an Evo first lol ( love that woman).
Preach! As an owner of a built 92 VR4 I garentee you most people who talk about these cars know nothing of the platform. I'll defend it to the grave. Biggest problem with these cars is misinformation and similarly to DSM guys terrible previous owners who are youtube certified. Also they are not DSM's all 3k/stealth/GTO were built in nagoya japan. More info in comments. Edit: If anything is challenging, its the interior.
Okay, I got a question. The 3000gt was criticized (and still is) for being such a heavy car and having not much room in the engine bay for owners work to on its engine. Moreover, it has a transverse engine configuration, which is such a weird setup for a supposedly performance halo car. In your honest opinion, is swapping the current engine with an LS4 a feasible move to solve such problems? Is a 3000gt with a transverse V8/front wheel drive build a sound suggestion? After all, a lot of the weight in the 3000gt comes from its AWD system. What's your take on take? I'm sorry for posing such a weird question. I don't mean to offend you if you have a purist belief on how a Japanese car should always be (that is, it should not have an american engine), but I had this question gnawing at the back of my mind for such a long time, now. Here's some more info to help you with that; www.onallcylinders.com/2018/03/22/ls4-5-3l-fwd-engine-upgrade-guide-expert-advice-ls4-mods-maximize-performance/ www.onallcylinders.com/2018/03/15/ls4-engine-specs-performance-bore-stroke-cylinder-heads-cam-specs/ help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4881/~/chevy-ls4-engine-specs www.carthrottle.com/post/8-cars-with-front-mounted-transverse-v8-engines/
I actually didn't know that, I knew they weren't dsm, but the stealth was like the Dodge version of it, so thanks for the info. I should've known that, I own a GSX
I own a red 94 and some kid asked me if it was a ferrari lol... I thought he was joking so a laughed, but he didn't laugh he just stood there waiting... So when i told him "its a mitsubishi" his face dropped and walked off lol
@@kylemilford8758 I know right? My 93 had that and a stock radio that actually had an auxiliary input jack plus a CD changer in the trunk area. It was my favorite car definitely a head turner
I did my work experience in a Mitsubishi dealership, at the time the 3000GT had just received its face-lift. A blue press car had just came in, speedometer decided it didn't want to do it's job, so of course we had to road test it once the work was done. My God that was a fast ride, seeing heads turn anywhere we went was great fun.
I love my '93 VR4! It's mint, less than 60k mileage and all of the electronic wizardry still work as designed! The car also responds very well to bolt-ons and will run 12s quite easily. There's not a huge aftermarket, but anything you want to do has already been done and parts are not yet that hard to come by.
My opinion is. The VR4 is becoming a rare and more harder car to obtain. And for that. They are becoming more expensive and more desirable. And since it wasn't known alot like other Japanese legends. Now people are getting curious about the car and about its looks. In other words the car is just GREAT!
I was lucky to get a 91 even though it's given me a lot of problems and even though it's stock for now I love that car and would never sell it I'm glad I just got I running again after switching the dash out but sooner or later it will look and hopefully drive nice and smooth to use as my weekend car to take my wife out for dinner ❤
I had a buddy that owned a 91 VR4 in the pearl white...such a beautiful car. He decided early on that he didn’t care much for the complexity of the car, so he removed the active aero, installed coil overs, and disabled the rear wheel steering. After that he replaced the whole exhaust system, did an intake, a blow-off valve, and had it professionally tuned. For being as heavy as it was, when he was in low rpm the car was super fast and had very little lag. Considering you can buy a nice lower mileage one on BaT in the high teens it’s a real 90s Japanese sports car bargain.
I have owned 2 3000gts. My first one was a clean 95 sl with 80k miles on it I bought when I was 15 after saving all of my money up and then I bought a pretty clean 93 vr4 when I was 17 with only 74k on it for only 4k even though I had to put a couple more grand into it. Still have it and yes I agree they are funky haha it’s honestly an intense love hate relationship. Absolutely beautiful and fun car when everything is working correctly but can be a nightmare if they were shown any neglect! It takes the right kind of person to appreciate them
Jesse I’m a 3000GT owned as well a couple things I recommend is check your rack and pinion from personal experience I got mine and a day later I put it on a lift to find out it’s completely blown out barely holding on so I’d check that also if you get any of them older than 1996 get ready to learn how to read your error codes from your obd 1 port with a multimeter there’s videos on how to do it also another thing the all wheel drive models so the VR-4 have a tendency to destroy their rear differential if it doesn’t have its regular maintenance done so when you’re test driving make sure there is no grinding from the rear diff or metal clacking sounds and immediately service your diff as soon as you get it home if you get the VR-4 also this applies to any car with a timing belt check the timing belt when you’re looking at the car if I remember correctly it’s two 10mm bolts that hold on the upper front cover and you can pull it off and look at it if it looks good then you’re golden man enjoy your amazing badass Mitsubishi 3000gt VR-4 that will smoke a Supra from the same age stock vs stock
My dad has a 3kGT vr-4, we maintain it very well, and only take it out occasionally, but when we do we beat the shit out of it. It only has 80k miles cause it wasn’t running for ten years cause we never had time or money to fix it. It was no major engine failure, just the crank sensor went out, but it was a pain in the ass to fix. It’s been running strong for years, although the active aero, and sport/ tour suspension doesn’t work, but it doesn’t need to to have fun :)
I’ve got a 3000gt, and the oil gauge stopped working, I checked if there was oil, there was, No oil light as well. Could this be a pressure issue or the gauge is broke?
I have a broke, but running 3000gt as well. atleast the eclipse still works . lol. Soon it will be unbroke. Just need to torque an axle nut once my '91 vr4 stoptech rotors and braided stainless steel brake lines come in. (it had a clutch change and full front suspension re-build and a vr4 big-brake upgrade done to it) its a 94 sl.
As an owner of a 93 3s vr4 and 95 TSI AWD that are both currently in pieces that comment hit me hard, lol. However in their defense, the vr4 is actually in pieces bc of accident damage, and the DSM only actually needed a new brake booster...which turned into doing a whole bunch of upgrades...Sadly I haven't had much time and energy for a while and both have just been sitting, that and other stuff keeps taking priority...
Nice to see new videos about 3000GT. I recently bought '98 VR-4 in very good condition: everything works (ECS, AWS, Active aero, A/C, even motorized antenna). These cars can live long if you take care of them.
@@johntore6108 Actually, recently my car was reviewed. I'm from Russia, so the video is on Russian, here's the link th-cam.com/video/gLDheI1UFk4/w-d-xo.html My VR-4 is from Germany
@@redteggy I thought the same before bought mine) but apparently Mitsubishi still was offering trims with all features for Europe market until 3rd gen. It is z16a chassis and online info by VIN says that it is in fact a '98.
@@panicatthecircus1231 it was barn kept and had 2 owners. The old man that I got it from tried to keep it in the best condition. He gave me all the service paper that had been done to it that ran back to 2001 when he bought it.
Love my 97 VR4! I've done countless performance upgrades and haven't had any major issues. Been driving it for 3 years now. Definatley is a head turner!
OMG! I have a 3000gt now and in '92 I had a Dodge Stealth. The 3000gt I have now is me reliving my youth because I was able to pick it up cheap and it ran good for a while, but now needs a new trans. 😢. However, I just love this car and I was smart enough to get the SL so no major issues like the VR-4 (although I'll always love the VR-4) because I knew enough about these not to get into that quagmire. So thanks for the shout out to us Stealth/3000gt cult groups who just love these. 😁😁
I just got a 1991 VR-4 a couple weeks ago and I love you. Active aero still works! Who knows for how long, but when it stops working I’m willing to pay to make it “right”. It may be a hassle to work on in theory, but in doing research you can find people that are knowledgeable on these cars. You gotta pay to play. And that goes with ANY vehicle you own.
I just got back in the 3000gt game after about having a VR4 about 7 years ago. I settled for a 92 SL this time because I just couldnt pass on this beauty.....was a 1 owner with only 47,000 miles, garage kept Silver with black leather, super clean and unmodified. Purrs like a kitten and I'm back in love with the 3000GT. Wish I could post a pic!
I'm still butthurt the FTO never made it over. I do miss my VR4 though. Paid $3300 for the car, dumped more than I care to admit and smacked 11s on a regular basis while also dailying. Fantastic car.
I'm the proud owner of a 1994 Dodge Stealth R/T "Luxury" 3 of 3 in silver metallic. I've always loved the 3/s platforms lines, and would stare, jaw open, whenever I spotted one as a kid. The non-turbo is slower, yes, but has respectable potential and the 6g72 loves spray, lol. Mine has been a rock solid daily for 2 years now, and I wouldn't trade it for any other car. This video was spot on, without being overly critical; I loved it. Cant wait to finish this build and get started on the v8 swapped stealth, 😎Drive on.
I picked up my red 92 sl on my birthday a few months back and on the way home me and my dad turned so many heads it was crazy. Can’t wait to finally get her on the road.
From a 3000GT owner it's a very rewarding and gratifying experience building up one of these things to be something awesome and they are so much fun but they are also a headache they're notorious for being unreliable I have one of the cleanest ones I've seen in the area and I'm still spending 5,000 every couple of years on repairs on average. I just did a 60k tune up not too long ago about 5000 miles ago and that includes the water pump the timing belt and the tensioner. The tensioner just failed and I jumped timing and basically destroyed the engine. Then I find out the tensioner was not under any type of warranty or anything. So basically these cars are super expensive to fix and anytime you do something you are rolling the dice with an old car especially this one. Sure you could have a shop do your 60k for like freaking $1,200 but having a shop do everything gets super expensive and I'm pretty sure the warranty I'm at tensioner is only like a year anyway so if it slips after that you're in the same boat with a blown engine. I had so much fun with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone at I'd still I had so much fun with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone at I'd I had so much fun with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone at I'd still say it I had so much fun with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone I'd still say it was definitely worth the experience but if you're someone who's younger or is in a financial situation dont have it as your main car and be stuck tfying to get to work ome day... Lol
What brand of parts u use? Personally only use OEM for timing belt n timing belt 60k service parts such as the tensioner as U said. Yes it can be expensive but U only have to do it once every 60k or 5 years or if ur not driving it much once every 8 years or so depending on ur situation. U can get OEM kit from dealer Cherry Hill Kia Mitsubishi with all the OEM parts for a lil over 300 bucks not bad..then have a reliable mechanic install it right. Also as long as U keep up with ur oil changes n basic maintenance even if the tensioner fucks up n blown engine due to timing U can still get a decent engine for a lil under or a lil over 1 grand.....(using ur old engine as a trade in core) main thing if ur turbos if those get blown they can cost U more than the engine. Like to know what brand tensioner U used...USE only OEM! thanks
Thanks for shittin on these cars. Scare people away so that we can keep the prices down and keep collecting and driving them. The problems aren't any worst than any other 90s JDM car. And most of the stuff on 3kgt/S's are well documented and fixable.
@InnerGuide take out most of the annoying electronics, make a bunch of pre-emptive fixes to problems. Don't half ass things, go all in for more expensive parts to make sure they don't break again etc etc. Same old song as every 90's car. The difference is, you pay 25k aud on this, some fella pays 100k aud on a skyline R34, and you pull ahead laughing xD
A friend had one when i was in France. They are sooooo hard to modify and always broken but will surpise you about their perf that on day they work properly
Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo owner here (Dodge clone of VR4). Absolute beast of a car, and it turns heads everywhere. My car is low mileage so the issues haven't started rolling in yet.
about 6 months go i got my first car, a base 93' 3000gt, and I love it, its a great car thats been through a lot in the last years but it runs like a champ, Im slowly restoring it to its former glory. Its a great and fun car.
I have a 95 VR4. Love it. Even when its broke lol. Currently rebuilding the engine (because I wanted to, not because it was broke lol) with forged internals and 3SX bored/built stage 3 heads. Slapping some Garret GT26s on there that I have next. Classic (and original) porn star red paint too. Has a lot of sentimental value to me too. Used to belong to my friend before he passed away. I bought it off his family to restore it and keep his dream alive a little. Can't wait to finish this thing up. Hoping to push 600-750HP when all said and done. Oh and everything else works on it still (minus the active suspension. when my friend bought it, it was already removed), but the rest is still there and working.
I bought a 92 Stealth twin turbo recently. I'm having a blast with it. It's in storage for the winter now but once spring comes along I'm taking it in for the 120k service and putting new tires on it. I can't wait to have all summer to enjoy it.
God I love this car so much, makes me giddy with excitement to see mine rolling after the engine is built, and for those of you wondering no lol I'm not going the "mock vr4" set up. I'm actually working on a procharge setup and seeing if that route can still produce the power without out the turbo hardware filling up the engine bay, because who knows, I might just try for a 6.2.....
A positive displacement supercharger and air to water intercooler underneath would probably take up less room and create less complexity. Since it is a built engine, I'm guessing you got pistons that had a compression ratio lower than the NA version.
A neighbor has a 3000 gt sitting in their driveway, covered in crap, and totally hasnt been moved in years. Really tempted to go over and see if they are willing to sell me a project car
I currently own 2 rare 3S cars for the last two years. '95 3K VR4 Spyder. '96 Stealth RT TT. Both second gen/best. First get ready to marry your car. The divorce or separation period will come. Normal. Lol. Just keep your cool and stay on course because these cars are F'n AWESOME! Treat it like a middle aged hot milf (cordial, confident, and respectful) and she will rock your world. If you treat her like crap with no love she will break your balls. Works of art OR on a bad day works of crap. :) DONT GIVE UP. Note, I've owned or driven most cars from RS4 Audi, Viper, SRT supercharged Jeep I built in 2007, WS6 TA, Ford Raptor 6.2 supercab, TRD Pro 4Runner, '00 RT Durango AWD, S600 Benz V12, ATV, UTV Sand Rail, water, snow etc etc. MY '96 Stealth RT TT as it sits in my garage is my absolute Favorite car. Period. My Stealth is also one of the rarest and fastest if not the fastest cars Ive owned just with good service and mainly bolt on exhaust mods. My Spyder is 99% stock and Stealth 85% stock. So I can test the performance and differences of both 3S worlds with and without mods. The next thing you want to do before buying is find a local mechanic. Not your mitsu or dodge dealer but a specialist who knows these cars. Worst case at least know how to source the parts you need and even then some hard to find. Example, if you want rear OEM brake shims or OEM exhaust with cat...good luck!! Lol. Thankfully you have other options. Next prepare for smog and DMV inspection if purchased out of state especially in California. fun.. I knew nothing too technical about these cars before I bought them but researched for years. I was in for a wild ride. Law enforcement think I'm only 18 vs almost 40 just bc of the car...and I rarely shred anymore. But this says its a timeless design. Thankfully I live only 2hrs from one of the best 3S mechanics and without him I would be up shit creek. If you buy these cars from up north or car ever lived up north be prepared for surface rust bc in the 90s AWD meant 4x4 especially in snow/salt roads LMAO. Still buy it if under 100K miles with "clean" carfax. I say "clean" bc carfax knows very little about the actual history of these cars but enough to make a good decision. I would buy a 100k mile model if all service up to date vs a 10K model never touched and rarely serviced. Buy a cookie sheet then place it on ground passenger side under engine to catch trans fluid which has a slow drip out of the german getrag transmission bc it doesnt have any seals or gaskits just metal to metal seal like old VW Beatle but still a good shifting german tranny..its not engine oil despite what many say!! Nonetheless these cars are amazing. Worth the effort and most replaced parts (other than battery) will last. I finally got both cars as good as I can for now. Dont look for much help from the 3S community bc its kind of like guarding unclaimed gold parts. Lol. You are on your own but some of us happy to help if you can reach us. Make sure you buy it with the original Service Manual (not just glovebox owners manual but big service book). My Stealth came with its service book and the Spyder came with a giant 3 ring binder showing how to service/maintenance/repair your car..priceless. Some of my fav things about the stealth is the owners manual which says "Imported for Dodge". I think if I knew more about the Stealth years ago I would have bought it sooner. But thats also what knocked out the Stealth in USA was its heritage. Auto unions hated the stealth bc it had a mitsu engine and mitsu not only JDM but also the creators of the zero in WWII. Thus Carol shelby was enlisted to build the dodge viper in record time and knock the stealth out of the '91 indy 500 and the car biz..and they did. Funny enough my dad bought a '94 Viper RT/10 which was epic, raw, fast, dangerous and fun but thats another story. Viper second fav behind stealth. Stealth is cool rare one off mutt. Has Ram head on steering wheel and front bumper which are now exclusively only on ram trucks. old chrysler emblem on the side of the car, Dodge name in rear, and Mitsu engine with the driver door label confirming it was built in Japan. Even the windows have the small mitsu logo on the stealth. If you have a 3K GT ask your mechanic for the 4 digit OEM radio code in the event your battery dies...get it from mitsu dealer. Likely needed. Otherwise your OEM radio locks up if battery dies. Thankfully the Stealth does not require a security code for OEM radio if battery dies. Merica. :) Your battery will die if not driven at least weekly. I suggest just buying a portable lithium jumpstarter if you want to only drive monthly on a crap battery. Its also good to leave in glovebox. The second gen is WAYYY better and Stealth beats GT in performance IMO. 2nd gen has stronger engine and trans components. 6 gears vs 5. Better brakes. More turbo boost. Much other. I even have the book on complete history of these cars explaining generational differences. These cars are AWESOME for all driving whether touring or performance. Other guy on here is wrong, it is a comfortable touring car. Im over 6ft tall. Seats are nice, cockpit design, plenty of space for feet and good pedal placement with maybe 3 inches from idle to the floor. Great mpg. Good cargo room and 4 seats. I drove 4hr to Vegas in Stealth..so good! Top Gear show said same about 3K GT VR4. The Stealth is even more under rated than GT. I think bc it was branded by Dodge/Chrysler in the 90s and many Chrysler cars in the 90s were crap. Note, I was born early 80s and remember.. These were my dream cars as a kid. However, the Dodge Stealth is really the mitsubishi stealth with dodge badging and styling. Literally. Under the hood is identicle. The turbos are the same size on both cars and never changed by either mfg apart from cranking up boost in gen 2 from 9lb to 12lb or from 300hp to 320hp. The factory turbos are small but this is good bc they spool quickly + mitsu proprietary valve timing in the 3.0 engine and no electric throttle meant near instant acceleration and response at any speed. This is where it shines over other 90s JDM + Handling. Pop up lights are cool but projectors in gen 2 way better and started the trend that followed until 2010 era. These cars also made rear factory badges cool, famous and a must have easter egg on all new fast cars or any car now adays. I would turn my head 180 as a teen just to see if GT had VR4 emblem..it was like trying to see an alien eyeball flying by at mach speed. Lol I won some and lost some. The Stealth was harder to ID bc of ghost color badges on white models..hints "STEALTH" bc hard to see. This is when OEMs starting using nicer wheels to distinguish performance trims so easier to identify and market their brand ('95-'97 when factory performance wheel/chrome trend started). The '96 Stealth was all business. No active aero, no digital ac unit, no electric exhaust, no electric suspension, very rare rear spoiler and diffuser, and only 57 units built ONLY for the USA. 17 were beautiful pearl white color. Only '96 stealth TT had BLACK interior vs dark grey in all other GT AND STEALTH models. I own #54 built one month shy of 57..the very last RT TT BUILT in early March '96. 54 is also the same exact color and spec as 57. #52 was only 1 of 6 '96 RT TT built just for CA emissions. *All VR4 and TT models have a 50 state emissions sticker under the bottom left side of the hood so dont worry if in CA. 91-95 Stealth built for USA and Canada. All 3K GT were built for the world. My '96 Stealth RT TT is much smaller and lighter than my GT. Granted I have a VR4 spyder which is heavier than all 3S models but its still much bigger than Stealth. The reason is because the 96 Stealth doesn't have all wheel steer (Z15A Chassis smaller) vs ALL 3K GT VR4 models have AWS (Z16A Chassis bigger). Big diff. The 96 Stealth RT TT is basically like the rare lightest fastest GTO limited model made just for Japan. They couldn't increase hp in Japan so they ditched rear steer to save weight and it carried over only to '96 RT TT. Only the 96 Stealth and '96 and up GT are especially good bc they have OBDII diagnostic port unlike previous years. My 95 was built close to 96 so it has a hybrid OBDII port. Cool. My spyder was the first car to introduce "Homelink" for your garage..which i still cant get to work but can get to light up. lol. They also only made the GT VR4 Spyder for two years 877 total units (95 and 96) which you can only tell apart based on the wheels 17" '95 vs 18" '96. VR4 spyder very rare model and first motorized hardtop since 1950s. Watch the youtube video of how they were made/modified here in in So-Cal at "ASC" after arriving from Japan without a roof! The rear diffuser on the 96 Stealth (and I think 94 and 95) is sweet!!! Same with rear spolier on these particular models. Only 94 models all trims had real glass projector light covers and highly desired by 3S collectors. If you want to upgrade wheels, good luck. I spent 3 months designing wheels/tires for stealth. Partly bc no tire store will touch these cars if no OEM Wheels. Def upgrade to kevlar timing belt and def swap at least the water and oil pump every 5-10 years if not driven hard..and save your old pump! The Spyder is my "weekly" around small town and the Stealth only moves monthly bc of stupid CA exhaust laws. Ive never been stranded in these cars. Everyone loves them old and young. I could write ten more pages but my thumb getting tired. If you have a question just ask and I will try to help. The End
I bought my gen 1 GTO when I was 22. I'm now 39 and it's been broken for the last 10 years. My friend and I have been working on it intermittently since and I'm happy to say it's currently getting the roadworthy certificate and being tuned. It has a newly built forged engine with 19T turbos. This thing is going to be amazing when I get it back in a few weeks!
Been my teenage dream car. Finally got a 93 VR4 with 70k miles. It is not as comfortable as the current cars but does it put a smile on my face when I drive it through the canyons. Amazing cars
Had a 98 3kGT, semi-built with DR650 turbos in the early 2000s... somehow got a P505 code and could NOT fix the damn thing. Replaced intake sensors and took it to multiple 3K specialists and no-one was able to fix it. Could not get it smogged for Cal due to "Check Engine" light on, but can pass the actual sniffer test. 3 yrs later had to let it go cause I could not get a license plate due to not able to smog it. Loved the damn car and nothing like a 5000 rpm clutch dump AWD launch! TLDR - Fuck California!
I’ve had my 94 3000GT for about half a year now and I love it. I haven’t taken it to a shop since I prefer to do my own work and I love that too. I think the best way to one word summarize the car was “Underdog.” It didn’t stay up like the competition did, and that’s the worst part. Ever since I first saw one at a beach just parked, I fell in love and sought after one for 5 years. Now that I have one, it’s great and I love having a car older than me.
Have had my 92 vr4 for 11 years, after 10 grand in building and repairing, all works on it now and it is the perfectly smooth daily. I love my 3k so much, it's going to be my son's first car.
The 3000GT is a good example of a good car with a ton of features...that most/all will eventually break. I'm looking at you, modern cars, with all your fancy tech and electronics.
Some cars had that problem of failure prone tech years before the 3000GT. Cadillac often was the first to install proprietary tech in their cars, and once that tech broke, many people couldn't take it anymore.
I still have my ‘96 that I bought brand new. It’s been broke once, for an oil sending unit. I think all these broke ones are due to multiple owners how don’t give it the attention it deserves. I have taken extra care of mine and it has served me well for two decades. And before you ask, YES, it is still my daily drive.
Picked up a 94 3000gt. SL. For 800.00 running and driving...has the newer headlights ...which is fine with me....the one thing I cannot figure out is HOW THE FUCK TO GET THE DASH LIGHTS TO WORK...any help would be appreciated...yes i know there is a video on you tube but the dudes voice is sooooo fuckin annoying
@@mikethompson11 Well theres 2 thinks the lever that controls the blinkers is the end knob turned where the dash lights are on? Also on the dash between the door and wheel is a wheel which should go up and down for dimness otherwise theres an issue with aftermarket stereos causing issues with lighting
So I've heard if I connect the illumination wire from the back of the radio to the power antenna wire ( the blue one ) that should fix the problem is that right?
I own 2 VR4's a 1991 and a 1995. Both are clean and still in original condition and completely functional. Neither burn any oil. They both have around 120k miles on them. It is very hard to find even one of these anymore that are even close to good condition. I have owned both of these for over 20 years.
@@FitmentIndustries Why were your cars always broke? confused as to why? The only time in over 20 years of daily driving mine that I was broke down on the road was a flat tire. That is it. I have always done preventive maintenance mainly the every 60k miles timing belt, oil pump and water pump change. And I always run Rotella T6 synthetic oil in both and I change the oil once a year which is about 5k miles per year I put on each of them. I also change out the transfer case oil once a year. That way I also keep tabs on if it is leaking. Which I never had a problem with. The trannys work fine in both one is a 6 speed the other a 5 speed. Both still have the original turbos. All the extra electronic functions like adjustable suspension and active exhaust and active aero all still work as new. Power windows and power door locks all work. Both of these cars are mechanically the best cars I have ever owned with the least problems ever. Even my 2011 Outback already has a busted power steering pump. The AWS works like factory new in both cars. The only other issue I have is with the 95, it has blown speakers.
Cory Allen I’m 19 from PA and have always wanted a 3000gt since I was a kid and seeing my best friends dad drive his around and gave me a ride in it one day. Where in PA are you from? I’d like to get some more information if you are still selling it!
Never had the vr4. Had the base model 2wice and 1 sl. I never had any issues. I love the way it handles and how fast it is stock. No limiter. All around great vehicle
I've got a blue 3000 GTO twin turbo in the UK, stunning car and turns heads everywhere I go. So advanced for their age. Only main issue I have is that they run hot and yes my active aero has broke but can fix easily but not got round to it as yet haha.
There is a huge after market support for these cars now. 3SX has almost every part you'll need to mod these cars. Big brake kits, Big turbos, stand alone ecu's, Coilovers from BC, and Tein (I prefer Tein since you can use an EDFC unit on them). Their is even a guy that's making full tubular subframes and control arms for the front and rear that you can buy. Even transmissions that are dogged boxed with sequential shifters. Plus you can build them to make some awesome power. Over a 1000hp+ if done right.
I had a 1998 3000GT in the late 2000s when I was in college.... had the SOHC.... it was the slowest/heaviest car I have ever owned..... but I still have a soft spot for it. I wouldn’t mind getting a VR4 in the future to mess around with.
I loved my VR4. Handled very well, the tall gears made it kill easily with a set of modified 15g turbos. Tuning required a standalone (this was before the "Chrome" ECU) And even 18x10 wheels fit under the fenders with a 0 offset. After my 2nd engine blew due to poor oil circulation I called it quits. The engine bay made the car infuriating to own.
I have a 91 VR4. only mods are Niche wheels,a 1.25" Tein spring drop, short shifter and LED headlights. AWS works, AWD is solid, Active exhaust works but it is hardly noticeable. My front aero doesn't work. I hit a bad pothole and the ECS on the front right broke, I will be upgrading to a GPS adjusted Tein setup when something actually stops functioning and I am forced to replace. I still love the car and drive it almost every day.
I have a 1992 vr4 and I can tell you is that it’s a love hate relationship. If you don’t know how to work on cars you’ll learn with this car simply because most mechanics hate to work on 3000gt’s at least in my experience . I want to sell it one week I want to keep it forever the next.
Brought a 1991 GTO with 83k miles on it. I left school at 17 and saved up all my money to buy the poster car of my dreams. Dreams come real and this dream car for me will never leave me, absolute unit of a machine ❤️
Hey guys I’m 17 and was given a 92 dodge stealth rt as my first car, 2nd gear grinds sometimes, speedometer doesn’t work, stuck in cruise mode, needs a moon roof and many more issues. Only has 51k miles on it though. Do any of y’all think it’d be a worth it to keep and get to fix? I’m not planning on using it as a daily driver by any means just more as a toy when I get a lil older
been enjoying an SL for a year now, got it at a good price with relative low miles for a 20yo car, no big issues with it. If I have an itch for stupid speed, I just jump on my Ninja ZX-14

Japan in the 90s was a wonderland. Anime, video games, cars. We didn't deserve it.
lol
That's what happens when you nuke a country twice...
If there was only some way to replicate that success with another country.
PAKTRA PRODUCTIONS wow....way to go off topic and be completely wrong at the same time. You must be fun at parties.

I'm an original owner of an Evolution and feel your pain. Discussing the car can be terribly frustrating. TH-cam doesn't help.

I actually didn't know that, I knew they weren't dsm, but the stealth was like the Dodge version of it, so thanks for the info. I should've known that, I own a GSX
If you think that’s bad trying owning anything with a rotary engine. Misinformation out the ass, even from current owners.
Id like to get a gto but i have a bunch of cars already. Just no more room. The prices on them are freaking amazing.
Most underrated 90s car it looks like a NSX, ferrari, lambo kind of thing and nobody values them
I wish nobody valued them, then maybe the damn price would drop lol I'd buy another one then
And digital climate control in 1991?! That was insane to me. My 2013 model doesn't even have the same features

I own a 91 vr4 rn, besides being messed up, and needing a lot of work she is worth it
uhhhhhhh i respectfully disagree !
i got a base 93 and within 7 months 3rd gear went out but i still love the thing ugh
I sadly sold my 92 to fix my comamche. Loved the car but i needed something that didn’t constantly have to fix
@@pedromata133 haha or the racetrack
It takes the right kind of person to appreciate them
What the the most common problems you had with it? any preventative maintenance, what to look for when buying one? Im currently deciding on one!
No way in hell you get a VR4 with 4k.
It's so sad that I actually had a broke 3000gt next to my broke eclipse🤣🤣🤣
I have a broke, but running 3000gt as well. atleast the eclipse still works . lol. Soon it will be unbroke. Just need to torque an axle nut once my '91 vr4 stoptech rotors and braided stainless steel brake lines come in. (it had a clutch change and full front suspension re-build and a vr4 big-brake upgrade done to it) its a 94 sl.
Same I got a 96 eagle talon not an eclipse but close enough lmao and the 3k needs valve seals so does the talon
I have an eclipse (gs) maybe I need to find a cheap talon and switch the engine cause I blew mine :/
I'm the 100th like!

Like to know what brand tensioner U used...USE only OEM! thanks

The End
I had a TT stealth liked everything, disliked nothing. Will buy another one
90’s also had great music!
"Sitting next to the eclipse that is also broke that is underneath your ownership"
Well played, subbed.
Fantastic video guys, I'm pretty glad to hear that you know what your talking about. Been there too my man, just sold mine.
I own a '93 3000gt and its been breaking on me ever since the first day I owned it. I carry a complete roadside tool kit in the back just in case lol
I’m curious, what are some of the worst things that have broken? And how much do you spend on it on average every year?
Have had my 92 vr4 for 11 years, after 10 grand in building and repairing, all works on it now and it is the perfectly smooth daily. I love my 3k so much, it's going to be my son's first car.
The 3000GT is a good example of a good car with a ton of features...that most/all will eventually break.
I'm looking at you, modern cars, with all your fancy tech and electronics.
Some cars had that problem of failure prone tech years before the 3000GT. Cadillac often was the first to install proprietary tech in their cars, and once that tech broke, many people couldn't take it anymore.
My dad actually has a 3000gt and it’s a great car, he bought it in 98 and it still has its original scent.
I saw a “lot” with at least 7 of these they are absolutely beautiful cars 👍🏼👍🏼and there were about 4 lancers
This made me miss mine. I want another one. Had the 91. Pop ups... best thing ever.
The car people always forget about when they bring up the NSX, Supra, Skyline, and Rx7.
Facts 🔥
So you want Nissan Se-R spec v and Nissan Altima SE-R next and So you want a G37
Owning a 2000 Mr gt3000 is amazing! Got so many plans to make it beautiful and fast! It's too bad not so many know what these are. Awesome video btw!
There wasn't a year 2000 unless you live in another country where it's titled GTO.
I daily a 3000GT SL that i paid pocket change for. I love it. Id buy another in a heartbeat
@@mikethompson11 shoot me an email if you have trouble. I can send some pics to help zts07galant@gmail.com
So I've heard if I connect the illumination wire from the back of the radio to the power antenna wire ( the blue one ) that should fix the problem is that right?
@@mikethompson11 Im not sure i think something like that
I own 2 VR4's a 1991 and a 1995. Both are clean and still in original condition and completely functional. Neither burn any oil. They both have around 120k miles on them. It is very hard to find even one of these anymore that are even close to good condition. I have owned both of these for over 20 years.
💎
Man I see a pearl one sitting in a collectors driveway . I asked him about it and he said he won't sell it even though it won't run.
@Cory AllenFlorida here, I have a Z already it is enough for me now. But thanks. you should tell Tavarish. He loves these
Cory Allen I’m 19 from PA and have always wanted a 3000gt since I was a kid and seeing my best friends dad drive his around and gave me a ride in it one day. Where in PA are you from? I’d like to get some more information if you are still selling it!
@Cory Allen damn I’m about to buy one, 94 TT. What issues do you think I’ll go through? And is it expensive to maintain?
@Cory Allen how long of a ride would you say?
Never had the vr4. Had the base model 2wice and 1 sl. I never had any issues. I love the way it handles and how fast it is stock. No limiter. All around great vehicle
I've got a blue 3000 GTO twin turbo in the UK, stunning car and turns heads everywhere I go. So advanced for their age. Only main issue I have is that they run hot and yes my active aero has broke but can fix easily but not got round to it as yet haha.
What city in UK and how much is your insurance? I live in London and a bit worried the price will soar.
Rebuilding our stealth tt engine as I type this. Forged everything. Built heads.. Wanting 800whp. Great video with alot of truth.
Never really wanted it just kinda landed in my hands and I fell in love
There is a huge after market support for these cars now. 3SX has almost every part you'll need to mod these cars. Big brake kits, Big turbos, stand alone ecu's, Coilovers from BC, and Tein (I prefer Tein since you can use an EDFC unit on them). Their is even a guy that's making full tubular subframes and control arms for the front and rear that you can buy. Even transmissions that are dogged boxed with sequential shifters. Plus you can build them to make some awesome power. Over a 1000hp+ if done right.
YESSS I’ve had 2 SLs they’re slow but still fun and they sound so good with my flowmaster 😏😏
I had a 1998 3000GT in the late 2000s when I was in college.... had the SOHC.... it was the slowest/heaviest car I have ever owned..... but I still have a soft spot for it. I wouldn’t mind getting a VR4 in the future to mess around with.
Count me in, bought JDM '93 GTO 3 weeks ago.
How has it been? just wondering i might buy one same year for 9.5k CAD
This has quickly become my favorite car TH-cam channel. Subbed , congrats on the success
Thank you for the support! 🙏🏼
**running in the 90s intensifies**
These things look badass in black or red.
I’m either getting a 350z or a vr4, I’ve weighed all the options but performance wise wich is better
@@julianmorales6980 if a vr4 is in good condition it has good acceleration
But is very heavy
Go with a well looked after 350z
I have a 91 VR4. only mods are Niche wheels,a 1.25" Tein spring drop, short shifter and LED headlights. AWS works, AWD is solid, Active exhaust works but it is hardly noticeable. My front aero doesn't work. I hit a bad pothole and the ECS on the front right broke, I will be upgrading to a GPS adjusted Tein setup when something actually stops functioning and I am forced to replace. I still love the car and drive it almost every day.
Everyone has forgotten about the groundbreaking convertible. ☹
I haven't. Always wanted that hardtop spyder version of vr4
a video I have waited for soo long love the content
How could you not mention SNES the 90's........ Literally best console ever
I was just searching for some information about the 3000gt bcs I want to buy one and look at that you released a video about it :D thank you
Same dude, super convenient
I have a 1992 vr4 and I can tell you is that it’s a love hate relationship. If you don’t know how to work on cars you’ll learn with this car simply because most mechanics hate to work on 3000gt’s at least in my experience . I want to sell it one week I want to keep it forever the next.
True
Brought a 1991 GTO with 83k miles on it. I left school at 17 and saved up all my money to buy the poster car of my dreams. Dreams come real and this dream car for me will never leave me, absolute unit of a machine ❤️
Ouu bois we getting close to the so you want a galant vr4 or so you want an is300/altezza ( most underrated car like ever )
So true. The galant vr4s are awesome
"Sitting broke next to the Eclipse that is also Broke..." I about spit my coffee all over my computer! The laugh of experience!
Looking at a 94 3000GT VR4 now as well as a 97 Eclipse GSX. I miss my 97 Talon and 91 Eclipse. Thanks for the video! This is great!
Still waiting for the “so you want an eclipse”
