That is the concept of the Japanese bridal colour... white used to be a funeral colour in Japan, and black meant formal festive occasions. Wedding gowns do not have to be white. They can be any colour the bride feels comfortable in. White gowns were started by Queen Victoria..it was never a tradition before her.

It's been a tradition for barely 200 years, and only because she got married around the time tabloid papers became a thing, and white was the most expensive colour of fabric at the time. People before that (and even for a long time after that) used to just wear their Sunday best. If they could afford to get a dress made, they'd often get it done in blue because blue was the colour of purity. (It's why the Virgin Mary was almost always depicted in blue in old art.)

@@LegionIvory Some neurodivergent people aren't able to pick up cues of sarcasm or exaggeration. For myself I know Keith is playing a bit but there's 1 or 2 without a recipe episodes where I genuinely couldn't tell if he was being serious or joking. Also adding credence to Keith being a really good actor

Well, it wasn't a fully fleshed creative idea really. Just belle of the ball, but bell of the ball instead. That was literally it. Definitely fun though. Lauren's doing what she was asked to do, i.e. be a judge. I'm sure none of them are taking it personally.
I loved his idea! I wanted some beauty and the beast for the colors with the bell shape executed differently! It would b fun to see their ideas professionally executed! Zac's flowers underneath were interesting as well. Maybe part 2 b really cool!
