Carbide Cap Lamps and Generators lighting the way with Acetylene

In this age of LED lights and smart phones it is easy to forget some of the magic of older technologies, The best example I can think of it the carbide light! Using calcium carbide and water to produce acetylene this amazing chemical reaction lit up the world! Many a mile of cave passage and tons of ore came to light under these lights before they were surpassed by electric ones. While their day may have passed I still like to drag em out and fire them up every now and then.
