i do think that Shoma is been selfish for good reasons. He does not trust Sachiko nor Hanto to see him past his ganute heritage. He could easily give bits of truths, such as her mom being kidnapped for years with him, to both of them and eventually wase the information to them instead have them unprepared. At the same time, Shoma is socially stunted so it does make sense why he would not do anything and wait for things to solve themselves out
