Thank you. I'm a beginner (ewi permit me to use it in headphone without disturbing other persons), and your book and this tutorials are very important to learn and understand
Evan, I'm New to EWI, have the Solo. So much different than my main Instrument, the highland bagpipe. I really appreciate your comment on playing the Ewi fingering. Was gonna try saxophone fingerings which I also play. This is so helpful. Thank you for producing these vids.
Thank you for the lessons, Evan! Its very helpful! I am new here and purched EWI 4000s a week ago. It should arrive in a week. I am very excited and have a lot of questions of cause. I guess my main concern is breathing/blowing. I read some forums where Newbees like Myself complained they would turn blue while blowing. I see the breathing is very different from, say, playing saxophone. Also I watched a video where someone demonstrates his mouthpiece modification. He uses mouthpiece similar to the saxophone MP and turns it into valve regulated. That way, by turning ligature knob he regulates the amount of air pressure. Anyway,. Just wandering where to start from in this respect. Thank you!)
Thank you Sir.. btw that amp is obsolete now. Cheap chinese amp with rechargeable lithium ion battery is the way to go now. Not to mention the wireless bluetooth interface. Although the bluetooth problem can be easily solved with stand alone bluetooth dongle and smartphone power bank.
Exactly as I read this comment, the voice said "please subscribe"... Sure enough, I did. Then it said "also please like...". Let me just do that... Then back to EWI...
That Blackstar amp is great. I've been using one for a couple of years. In defense of the EWI Solo it has some good sounds over and above the 5000. You can also use the Solo wirelessly using one of the many guitar wireless systems which are quite cheap to buy. I'm using the Getaria GWS-8 which works well.....Useful video with good advice on playing technique. Thanks for making it.
Hey! Thanks for your positive feedback and defense of the EWI solo 😎. Using a guitar wireless system is a good tip. Do you need to use a preamp with it while using the EWI Solo?
Great video! I just got the Akai EWI Solo yesterday and man this is not easy! I expected it to be much easier to play, but I am not used to the fingering. Takes some time to get used to the octave rollers. I only played the recorder when I was a child during primary school and newer play any wind instrument after that. I can play basic piano and know a few scales. I really want to add some jazzy sax sounds to my house music, trip-hop, lofi etc. This will take a lot of time to get used to and progress on. I do think it will be rewarding though. I am sick of just finding samples, I want to play them myself and do some impro. Buying a real sax was not an option due to the need to practise at night etc. I think I will train my lungs too! I have never used so much breath, blowing and inhaling like yesterday evening 😄. Subbed your channel btw. 😊
Hey DJ TideWave! I'm glad you liked the video and subbed. ;-) Yes, the EWI is not so easy at first but, as you know, with a little dedicated practice you'll be able to get good control over the instrument in a few short weeks. At some point, I will make a video dealing with the Sound Editor and possible some synth options for more sounds. Peace!
Looks like a great device, but I wonder if there is a way to clean it from the inside manually, or if there is some built-in internal filter to clean the dirt. Otherwise, such devices probably won't last long.
@@EvanTateMusic You can clean the mouthpiece as per instructions that come with the unit. The tube running down the middle transfers spit to the spit hole; the tube is isolated from the internal working of the EWI so the liquid can’t affect the electronics, etc., so I can’t see how dirt would get inside the unit.
Great teacher! I’m new to Ewi ánd plating the clarinets….needs a lot of exiting excercice!
Thank you for this interesting lesson to star up.

Excellent information. Just got an ewi solo and I believe you have what any beginner needs. Thanks ❤🔥❤😉😁
Great video Mr. Tate. The info for this instrument is always welcomed, especially if explained superbly like in this case. Thanks.
Exactly what I was looking for. Esp. getting used to jumping octaves. Thank you. You've earned a new sub.
Many thanks for the kudos and for the sub!
@@EvanTateMusic You're welcome. Have a great day.

Nice videos. I am just starting with the EWI solo and this was very helpful. Is the EWI book a downloadable pdf?
I saw I could buy a hard copy on Amazon. It is being delivered today.

I can’t seem to find a subscribe button! Am I missing something? This is great content!
Many thanks! I hope you found the subscribe button in the meantime. :-)

Having difficulty with the air flow blowing into the mouth piece very restricted. I changed the setting but I may have it set incorrect.

@@EvanTateMusic Pre-amp not needed. I just plug the receiver straight into Blackstar input and works fine with no detectable latency.
To add to this, I use a Lekato wireless system that I have also used with my electric basses. A pre-amp is not needed.

Hi Evan, you have a new fan! I'm very interested in your Ewi Book.
I want to see the index 😉 I miss that on your website!
Will take care of that.

Has anybody have the experience of their EWI "not lasting long"?

Thx for your video. How do we buy your book of EWI? Peter
Hi Peter! Many thanks! You can purchase the ebook version from my website at evantatemusic.com or a physical version of the book on Amazon.
I am looking forward to getting your Book of EVI! Cheers! Peter
Where did you buy the manual book or do you need to order it from Akai
The manual can be downloaded from the Akai professional website.
