Paola Victoria Would you prefer Harper next year for a lot more money and the same amount of years? Harper will command a bigger contract yet in reality Stanton has been the more productive player. Just look at the stats. I think I'll take this contract over Harper's.
Psandoval85 i get that he can score a lot of home runs but sometimes that's not what you need. Sometimes you just need a hit to help your team score runs, you need to be a good outfielder when the reality is he's very injury prone and in the end harper has a higher batting average. Don't get me wrong, i'm excited to have him in ny but I just hope he keeps that high playing level for a couple of years cause otherwise we are going to be stuck with a player that doesn't produce and we're still going to have to keep paying him cause no team would want him but here's to hoping for the best!
Paola Victoria Fact is if they didn't make this move they would have surely signed harper next year for way more money. So all you have to do is compare this deal to the potential Harper deal next year. And this deal looks like a bargain compared to that. Harper hasn't been the healthiest player himself either. And yea he had a higher career average by about 15 points, but Stanton has been way more productive offensively in every other category.
Psandoval85 yeah there's no doubt that Harper would have been waay more expensive. Well, I guess we'll put stanton on the DH to try and keep him healthy. After all, we have more than enough outfielders already. We just need a good starting pitcher and we're set and next year maybe Machado.

This just shows how brutal baseball actually is. He was the last hope for baseball. He was the last guy to really transcend the sport. Buf unfortunately baseball is rough and he couldn't keep up with the pace he set. His fall from grace hasnt been pretty. Although he has be pretty productive this season so far. Just crazy to to look back and remember how big of a star this guy was
