Dolly has said herself that if theres ever a film/series made about her, that she wants Kristen Chenoweth playing her. I don’t think it’s a matter of if, it’s more likely a matter of when. They’ve done films about Whitney, Queen, Elton John, I truly believe one day she will play the role. Might give her her first oscar..?
None of you will believe me but this really happened. I once spent several hours in the back of a car with Kristin Chenoweth. It was 1995. We were all driving up to Connecticut from NYC to the Goodspeed Opera House. She was in their production of Strike up the Band and I was going up to see it because my girlfriend at the time was in the ensemble. She and I talked all the way up there and she was so charming and gracious; I probably talked way too much and she could not have been nicer to the nobody that I was. She was not yet a superstar - it would be another two years before she made her Broadway debut - but it was evident she was going to be. She was new to New York and still getting used to it; she was about as un-New York as it gets, a devout Christian beauty pageant winner from Oklahoma. She took a big leap, dropping out of school to study opera in order to pursue a career in musical theater, and even though she was getting work the jury was still out in 1995 whether she made the right choice. We talked a bit about Mozart, a favorite composer of both of ours. It’s so nice to see her success and achieve happiness in her personal life as well - I can’t think of anyone more deserving of it. Coincidentally, I also knew another woman who went on a few “dates” with Prince. She was a dancer who worked with him in the late 90s at the same time that I was collaborating on a musical project with her in New York. She would be suddenly summoned; a limo would pick her up, take her to the airport, she would be flown first class to Minneapolis, and he would put her up for a few days in a guest room, feed her elaborate meals, and talk about God. I don’t think they ever got physical (except in a performance they did together in a video which got VERY physical.) He wanted to pursue something serious with her while also working with her professionally and after about a year of this she ghosted him. She of course was excited to work with him but she had other things going on and just couldn’t take the weirdness of it all. And another coincidence: I met this woman through the same girlfriend who introduced me to Kristin. Worlds are colliding. And now Kristin’s the only one of us still living in New York. The 90s seem so long ago now.

I think he really loved that story-iirc both he and QuestLove have awesome Prince stories too, but Kristin's takes the cake. I'm curious what that house looks like too.
I just met her today at Angelina college! She came and she was so beautiful I was so nervous a few kids sang for her and she was so funny I'm so glad I got to see her
