Have you tried using surfer special turn 1 instead of ult? It does more damage to a single target and could help get Gladiator down faster. I've been using two fast toons that hit hard, such as SuS and Kang and its been working well thus far. Usually after Kang and SuS basic into even a 4 rs Gladiator is enough to drop him down. Then OML can start gaining speed bar and take over.

Interesting! I might try that. Can’t see that defence at the moment but I’m sure I’ll encounter it again very soon!
